I like to think that Megamind says things weirdly because he has reader's syndrome: when a person knows a lot of words but doesn't know how to say them properly because they have only ever read them in books and never heard people say them out loud.
Yeah. I mean, wasn't he in prison for his whole life? He never interacted much with other people, nevertheless learning to properly read
I have this in real life and was embarassed when I first when to university, and I didn't pick up on this watching this movie lol
Is that what it's called? LMAO, now I finally have something I can tell people when I say words weird. Probably my worst example of this is with names from Greek Mythology XD. It's po-psy-din not po-see-don

I think I totally have this... Spanish is my first language and I know English for reading a lot so I pronounce a lot of words really funny
I imagine that a lot of people who learned another language by themselves are like this
Notice how Metroman is good at basically everything, but then he discovers a passion for music the ONE thing he actually sucks at meaning that, unlike with everything else, he has room to improve and grow
I didn't think of that
The one thing he actually have to earn for himself.
It just shows that even the most gifted ppl in this world aren't always happy with their surroundings and I love that this movie showed that.

The reason why the space dad disguise voice sounded a bit like an old time mafia boss was because of the 1978 Superman movie. In that movie, Marlon Brando (who played the mafia boss Vito Corleone in the original Godfather movie), played Superman’s space/biological dad, Jor-El. And given that Metroman is basically a satire of Superman and Tighten was intended to be the next Metroman, having Megamind pretend to be his Jor-El/godfather, was kinda a funny reference for fans of the original Superman movie.

Nice little detail: when fake Metro Man is revealed to be megamind, the baby that previously cried when he saw him three separate times, actually stops himself from crying the last time.
Metroman has a point. We can’t be doing the same routine in our daily lives. We can do whatever we want what makes us happy.
Not to mention, he knew Megamind had it in him to be a hero... he knew him as a kid back when he tried to be good, remember! The only reason he never became one before is because Metroman was always overshadowing him, so he gave up and decided to be a villain instead.
Metroman decided, basically, to let Megamind take over and have his turn as a hero because he knew that's what Megamind REALLY wanted.
@@GuukanKitsune It's nice that, as kids, they were both shaped because of their surroundings and what people expected. Maybe as a kid, Metro Man wasn't the best to Megamind - after all, he was rewarded for his behavior. But as an adult, he reflects on it, and he ends up believing deeply in Megamind later. Probably more than just about anyone.
I like that Metro Man had his own arc.

Fun Fact: If you rewatch the movie at the part where MegaMind says "FIRE!" 11:21 in that scene at 0.25x speed you can see MetroMan disappear for a fraction of a second cuz that's when he was in flash-time reflecting about wanting to be a hero.

You've never heard someone say "Heroes aren't born, they're made" You need to watch more superhero genre. That quote is up there with "Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them." And "Where there are Villains there will be Heroes. Just wait, they will come."
I personally like when the bad guy calls him hero and he says "i'm not a hero, i'm X". X being a guy, a fighter, a pain in the neck, a wrench in the cogs, i just don't like you.

Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them is a quote from Night at the Museum. That is not a superhero movie.
@@jacksondavies3595 First of all, how dare you insinuate that Night at the Museum isn't a superhero movie, and second of all, it's a line from Shakespeare that people quote the shit out of that Night at the Museum used alongside a lot of other movies, TV shows and books. I said that it's up there with "Heroes aren't born, they're made" as a quote that's well known if you watch a lot of superhero genre because it's a Trope that is used in most cases when a character is thrust into the heart of the action or given power and responsibility they don't think they can handle as a way of spurring them on or inspiring them to rise to the occasion. In the Superhero genre that happens a lot. And third, Teddy says "Some men are born great. Others have greatness thrust upon them." to Larry not "Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them." which makes it paraphrasing of the actual Shakespeare quote and a moot point.

Prison director looks like J K Simmons (Jameson from Spider-Man). He is voiced by him.
He also voiced Kai in Kung Fu Panda 3
And Tenzin from LOK and Ford from Gravity Falls.
And Cave Johnson from Portal 2
I love when they find out that Metroman is alive, and he grabs the guitar. He is in frame the entire time, but he just used his speed to grab it, so it looks like he never moved
My favorite line in this movie has to be "Chicks don't like bouncy houses." 'They like clowns" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Literally everything Megamind does is a big brain move and I love it

Megamind deserves all the love Despicable Me got
Never watched Megamind until a few months ago. I thought it was going to be an average movie, and it amazed me how GOOD it actually was, and incredibly underrated, when its one of the best animated movies i've seen.
For me, top 3 is Shrek 2, followed by Shrek 1, and Megamind. So sad more people dont watch it thinking its just "bad guy turns good"
Yeah, this movie had the misfortune of being made after Sharktale and released at the same time as Despicable Me, making most people overlook it as just another genre parody.
Luckily tho, nowadays, it has a pretty big following so there is some justice there
I disagree. Shrek is better than Shrek 2.
There aren't bad premises, there are premises that are badly executed. It is a "bad guy turns good" story, but it's everything else that makes the whole concept shine even brighter. The characters act with reasonable motivations, and Hal turning into a villain makes complete sense, he never was a good guy, and the moment he got powers and was unstoppable he was able to show what he was capable of. As the saying goes, power doesn't corrupt, it reveals who you are.
I'd also recommend rise of the guardians
I’ve watched this about a million times years ago, but just now I noticed how when the world was ending, Megamind’s dad was just like, “aNd hErE iS yOuR bInKiE!”
"Heroes are not born, they are made" is the catchphrase on the DvD case of the first Iron Man movie. And Metromans origin story is literally Supermans. Its hilarious.

Also, I was confused by the "Space Dad" voice slurring too, until I realized it was a double reference to the actor Marlon Brando who not only played Superman's father in the original Superman movie but also played the mafia Godfather in the trilogy of the same name.
If you slow it down you can actually see metro man behind them in the observatory for a couple frames
That was an amazing easter egg, you initially see Metroman vanish for a frame or two on the giant display, too, and we dismiss that initially as just a quirk of Megamind's giant holographic projectors

@@mena94x3 If you open "Stats for Nerds" and look at the "Mystery Text" line, its usually between around s:4 t:682 and t:683, use the period and comma keys on the keyboard to move forward or backwards by individual frames, you notice Metroman fade out briefly as if light is only now realizing that the guy is supposed to be elsewhere before he suddenly returns. To the eye when watching in realtime he appears to flicker and given Megamind's tech thus far you assume its just a quirk of the holo-displays. It was quite the nice easter egg :P

One of my favorite DreamWorks movies and the movie that got me into classic rock. This is the movie that deserves a sequel.

It's a gem alright, but it's not underrated (anymore) and people should stop saying that
They were “nemesis” but it wasn’t like normal heroes and villains that despised each other. They only did it because they felt it was their only option and megamind obviously didn’t do these things out of malice
I remember not liking Hal when i was a kid, he make me feel unconfortable, now i grow up and understand why

What you need to know about power is that it doesn't necessarily corrupt you, but it definitely reveals yourself.
Hal was always a creep, he just suddenly got the power to... not be worried for the consequences.
Exactly, I loved this movie for showing a whiny "nice guy" waiting to get his complimentary reciprocated feelings and showing his true colours by how he reacts to non consequences.
I found it very cathartic and I've known so many people like that.

The slurring is in reference to Marlon Brando who played Superman's father in the Christopher Reeve movie, which they're parodying. And the voice is mimicking how Brando spoke in the Godfather.

This movie created me and my siblings childhood,it is amazing! AND omg im so excited for you to see Moana,its the best animated Disney film in my opinion and has the most beautiful soundtrack,it gave me goosebumps.

one thing that I think was fascinating. The Way Megamind pronounced words wasn't indicative of low intelligence or a lack of grammar, that is a phenomenon that occurs when someone has only really read certain words and not processed how they are normally pronounced, instead speaking the word how it is spelled. This occurs a lot with people that read books a lot, you will find that more esoteric words tend to be pronounced wrong as well.
Yessss Moana is one of my favorite Disney movies and probably has my favorite soundtrack ever I'm so excited!

The problem with Hal is he thought that being a superhero means he would automatically get Roxanne.....also he was a creepy nasty person from.the begining just pretending to be nice.
The saddest part about that is that Hal probably got that way because someone did that to him before or his parents taught him that that behavior was the way to go. Simping is a class that requires a teacher but even then, some people just get too dense to see it eventually.
It’s so amazing that you’ve done Megamind and enjoyed it!! Next step : Lego Movie 😌 I think it’s more recognized than Megamind considering it was Oscar nominated (and should have won best animated picture in my opinion) but I believe that its still very much under appreciated !

Big hero 6 is a good animated movie
Wolfwalkers?? It just swept the Annie awards and people are arguing that it should beat soul at the academy’s this year
Megamind came out around the same time as Despicable Me where it had a similar plot. But many ppl at the time assumed Megamind was a ripoff of Despicable Me. Therefore, this movie didn't get the recognition it deserved. But to this very day, it remains my favorite.
You should watch the movie Soul or Wreck-It Ralph. Also love the content! I am so glad you did this gem of a movie.

Also fun fact: the chango watch doesn't change your eyes. Bernards eyes are brown but megamind bernards eyes are green, and likewise the wardens eyes are blue but minion warden has brown eyes
And roxanne's costume changes color slowly thru the movie. It starts red, then when she's dating bernard it's purple, and at the end it's blue showing that she is with megamind

This was a great movie to grow up with: good story, great twist on turning the villain into the hero, and showing how the so-called hero can let great power go straight to his head.
And btw, still miffed off that Hal blew the secret of their not being any such thing as the Queen of England. 😡
