    Howdy guys always good content and a laugh, a TD 42 is tried and tested mule, why not try a try something else like a 4JJJ, the price must have been good for all of that, Patrola Parts are the way to go 😉

      Yeah, we literally had a week to get it before 10 days on Yorke Peninsula.
      The 4JJ1 motor keeps popping. What’s the go. Why are they so good? 4cyl actually better than the 6?

    My rd is a big slug especially with 35s going to rainbow and Frasier couldn’t do proper 110 tends to over heat
    Love 4.2 but still run issues on over heating my next conversion is 6bt

    • @nickunw
      @nickunw Рік тому +3

      Not sure why people say the TD42 overheats. I’m running 450nm and it flys. At 100km, towing the boat in 28c heat, it runs at 90c.
      Totally stock cooling system. Few stock stock bits really help: air damn under the car, rubber inner guards, stock water pump, stock radiator and she’s good to go.

    • @happymanasfksubaru2846
      @happymanasfksubaru2846 Рік тому +1

      @@happymanasfksubaru2846 yeh man, that’s it. Heard the airdam under the front and the rubber inner guards make a difference too. So I’m running both of them now. I can sit on 110kph and be in the 80 degrees

    • @nickunw
      @nickunw Рік тому

      @@willmcc05 yeah but with the 4j, you still have to get it engineered don't you? TD42, as long as that model patrol came with a 4.2 then update engine numbers and cya later.

    Hi guys, just purchased a td42 converted rd28. Did you guys have any issues with the engine light staying on after the conversion? Cheers

    • @nickunw
      @nickunw Рік тому

      haha yeah... not the greatest solution. But a little bit of black electrical tape over it has "fixed" it for me.
      The ECU is looking for a tonne of sensors that are no longer there. Hense the engine light. Propper way would be to pull the ECU out too but that might start to play with AC controls etc.

    What wires did you have to change or does all plug in ?

    • @nickunw
      @nickunw Рік тому

      It was actually pretty easy. The TD42 wires required are glowplug relay, timing sensor for taco, use the RD28 temp sensors which fit the TD42 block and the fuel stop solenoid. That's pretty much it. Are you going to give it a go?
