  • In this episode of 5 Minute, Dr. Svoboda talks about cultivating equanimity from the perspective of Indian spiritual thought, including a passage from the Bhagavad Gita in which Krishna suggests we should cultivate a balanced perspective toward the saint, the dog and the eater of dogs. He also talks about how to apply this wisdom to our lives.
    Dr. Robert Svoboda is the first Westerner ever to graduate from a college of Ayurveda and be licensed to practice Ayurveda in India. During and after his formal Ayurvedic training he was tutored in Ayurveda, Yoga, Jyotish, Tantra and other forms of classical Indian lore by his mentor, the Aghori Vimalananda. He is the author of over a dozen books and has served as Adjunct Faculty at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, NM, and at Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA.

      If you brush your teeth well, chew food mindfully, and keep good oral hygiene (2nd house in Jyotish corresponds with money, fixed assets, luxuries, good food, and in physiology, face and teeth), it is linked to the 6th house (of daily grind, work, discipline, enemies, and in physiology, the gut) and 10th house (name, fame, status, out-house, jungle- in older times, physiologically, the knees; in the day, 10th house is 9am-10am time) as the Artha trikone, and they all get charged. Now, 6th house is opposite to the 12th house (house of sleep, dreams, loss of conscious), therefore it will give you good sleep.
      In other words, if you chew your food well(2H), you will have more energy in your system, digested by the gut (6H), and you will have more energy, as a result your career with flourish (10H). Working hard during the day, will make you sleepy at night. Therefore, your sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems (6-12 axis) will be well rested and functional..
      Maybe you can look into the oral and gut microbiome videos of Dr Svoboda, and take action accordingly...(another remedy)..

    What is the difference between equanimity and equality?

    • @DrRobertSvoboda
      @DrRobertSvoboda  3 роки тому +1

      equality = the state of being neither superior nor inferior, greater nor less, better nor worse, stronger nor weaker, etc., with regard to the thing or things compared.
      equanimity = Evenness of mind; that calm temper or firmness of mind which is not easily elated or depressed; patience; calmness; composure
      someone in a state of equanimity looks on all creation as if every part of it is equal to every other part, nothing better or worse, etc.

    Pranam🙏, when we try to practice समता ... There are chances that we might not know when the runanubandh with a particular person is over.....i am at the lowest level of spirituality may be that is the reason iam unable to identify as to when my runas are over with someone and when i need to move on...or i just have to sit ideal nd the universe will do it for me. I know iam confusing all, but iam confused equally... Anyways nice video🙏🙏Namaskar

      Namaste! 🙏 In the case of rannubandana and prarabdha, we all are on the passenger seat of the bus actually driven by Prakriti. Any attempt to plan the course of rannubandana is futile. We stop where the bus stops. Once your stop comes you need to get down. You have got no choice. Which part of journey one likes and one dislikes is based on perspectives. This is the reason why all Avadhootas work with perspectives mainly.
      Panchamaha Yajna (Deva, rishi, pitru, booths, nara) are the means to reach ones goals. A yogi lifts even a finger for the sake of Yajna alone as Yajnas are purifying. This too without being bound to the Yajnas.
      It is intriguing on what Janaka realised beyound Ashtavakra gita, what Shri Tottapuri ji realised from Shri Ramakrishnaji and what Shri Uddavji realised from Radhaji. Brahman (universal consciousness) is with Bhava and hence devotion is supreme!
      We all have the same Brahman(universal consciousness) within and hence are actually at the same level of spirituality. Just that we realise when time comes. 🙏

    Dr. Svoboda, I admire you more than perhaps anything else in this world (because you’re a great scholar) but this time I suspect your thesis is not perfect. Krishna describes Equanimity as the characteristic of a Realised spirit and hence such a person can practice Equanimity effortlessly and that too almost all the time. Equanimity is an effect (or resultant) and not really a cause and hence this concept (of Equanimity) is of limited help to a spirit which isn’t self-realised.

    • @DrRobertSvoboda
      @DrRobertSvoboda  4 роки тому +3

      Indeed, equanimity is a fundamental characteristic of a Realised spirit which permits such a person to practice Equanimity effortlessly almost all the time.
      But although Equanimity is an effect of the Realization cause, the attempt to practice Equanimity can also produce desired effects, in the same way as the attempt to practice anything can lead to perfection in that thing
      Even if one cannot display Equanimity perfectly at all times, it is of great help to one's spirit and one's relations with other humans (and animals) to display Equanimity as often as possible

      Yash Ji Mishra! #Namaste! #Namaskar! With great respect and due apologies to you, I think you are hair splitting and being hyper technical about the word EQUANIMITY and Dr Robert Ji Svoboda’s commentary on it. In my humble opinion, what all #Lord #Krishna preached #Arjuna in the #BhagavadGita is that one has to cultivate and achieve the quality of #STHITHAPRAGNA/#STHITHAPRAJNA which is #EQUANIMITY/#EQUIPOISE. To put it in other words, #LordKrishna advocated that one has to be EQUANIMOUS/EQUIPOISED. Unless one practices EQUANIMITY/EQUIPOISE or tries to be EQUANIMOUS/EQUIPOISED, how does one #achieve the quality of EQUANIMITY/EQUIPOISE? Lord #Buddha has also preached that one ought to practice EQUANIMITY and it is an essential #practice in #Buddhism. It is all a play of words i.e. #NOUN and #VERB in which you are caught up. I am not pontificating and what all I stated is my understanding of EQUANIMITY. #Happy #Janmastami #HappyJanmastami !!!
