    • @MarcoCastro
      @MarcoCastro  6 місяців тому +1

      Hey there! Thanks for watching. I did sort it out. To be frank, I just had to sit and learn it. Also I hit up a few colleagues that shoot with Nikon. I shot with it yesterday again but I am using a 24-70mm Sony with adapter and notice that when I zoom, the adapter tends to move just enough to make the camera think there’s not lens. I’m so pleased with the camera that I’m just going to get a 50mm which is a preferred focal range for me. Maybe I do a full on shoot with that kit once I get it.
      But I’m also dying to try a z8. It looks like a mighty beast. Given the conditions of work at and how fast I work, I think that camera may be well suited for me.

    • @SkylerHugh
      @SkylerHugh 6 місяців тому +1

      @@MarcoCastro Glad to hear you got it sorted. Just dealing with new systems can be a challenge in and of itself. It’s a bummer about the the adapter…
      Haha I’ve been eyeing the z8 as well and I’ve been tempted to pull the trigger. Once it becomes more of a necessity I’ll snag one. I can see the appeal for your type of work for sure.

    Hey Marco, I’ve got a similar situation with autofocus on my Zf. I ended up mapping my AE-L button to a custom “AF-area mode + AF-ON” via F2 in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU. I have it set to “Single-point AF”. I'd also recommend the Z8, I bought one and I ended up switching to Nikon from my Sony A7sIII and A7rIV.

    I'm jealous: I don't have awesome Sunshine State beaches for backgrounds, so I have to bokeh my backgrounds and shoot wide open all the time. I have the 70-200 mm Sony GM original, that use a lot for portraits now, but not the 2.0 version. Should I run out an buy the 2.0? What am I missing? (I also don't have a new trendy grey Bronco, just an old Camry with lots of scratches!).

    • @MarcoCastro
      @MarcoCastro  6 місяців тому +1

      I do not take for granted how fortunate I am to live in this beautiful city filled with sun and surrounded by beaches. I don't not one bit. Everything you see is based on years of hard work. As for the lens, I tested the previous version and found that it was not keeping up with my camera. But if you don't shoot as fast as I do, you may be able to do it right. Lastly, I am not a fan of taking that lens to a beach since i primarily use it for jobs and for video work. That said, you you may get away with a cheaper version; say the Tamron 35-150 with gets great reviews. Thank you for watching and I hope I was able to help.

    Hi! I've already watched a few of your videos, this is the coolest so far! Tell me, what were the settings when you shot in the background light, against the sun? Is it manual mode or automatic? What was the exposure measurement?

    • @MarcoCastro
      @MarcoCastro  6 місяців тому +1

      Hey there! Thanks for watching. I believe each photo shown on the video displayed the settings but if i missed one, please let me know the time on the video and I can send you the settings. That said, It's important to know that my settings will change because the light changes on every shoot, even while the shoot. So basing your work on my settings may or may not yield similar results. The important thing is to know when to change settings. As for my style, I shot everything manual. I will only use Aperture priority when shooting on days where there clouds keep covering sun in and out, otherwise manual for me. When shooting against sunlight, try to keep direct light from entering your lens, its the best chance you have at maintaining contrast.

    As you are a pro swimwear photographer I would be interested in what are the rates that companies are willing to pay for a shoot per day or per hour. Competition must be intense there so I was wondering if you could live just from taking pictures of swim wear or fashion in that location.

    @richardbierman9856 6 місяців тому +1

    Why not use a little fill flash?

    • @MarcoCastro
      @MarcoCastro  6 місяців тому +1

      Because I need someone to hold it, and I’m not one to be setting up light stands and posing a model in a single place. I move, a lot. Once I nail my shot, I move.
      Imagine if I had to move the model, and lights? And how about those shots in the water?
      Flash comes out when I can have a human light stand.
      Until then, I rely on cameras dynamic range and knowing how to positing model/clothing in the best ambient light.
      I did another video recently where I show more on how to accomplish this. Check it out.
      Thanks for watching and great question. I hope I answered it for you.
