That version has been the 3rd version of the same song and Qantas has made it the same ad. I still have a soft spot on the original one years ago with the choir of kids singing but shot in different locations around Australia. Every time I see and hear the song done from Qantas gives you that warm fuzzy feeling of our great southern land.

Suzi and Travis, come and visit us in Australia! You're always welcome! ❤️. We love you guys too. As Aussie born and raised (and grew up singing in choirs), this makes me tear up. It's such a special song for us. Whenever I've heard it playing in public someone is always singing 🙂
This should be our nat anthem. It sends tingles down my spine everytime i hear it. My daughter was in this choir, The Australian Youth Choir. When qantas put out the first ad using this, we missed on the pick, but happy to be associated to the choir back then.
Our current Federal Treasurer definitely wants it to be made our anthem, I can assure you. He told my choir that a few years ago. We always sing the song at the citizenship ceremony in his electorate every year on Australia Day.
I Still Call Australia Home was written by the fabulous Peter Allen. He wrote this as a love song to his home land. Then Qantas used it for their commercial.
"I didn't know he sings." Well friend here's a fun fact for you... Hugh starred in the musical "The Boy from Oz" on Broadway in 2003. He won a Tony award for it the following year. It's about the life of Peter Allen, the guy who wrote this song you're reacting to so to appear in this commercial singing the same song was sort of full circle for him.
Guys TY for reacting to our fabulous airline QANTAS's commercial, not only a fantastic airline to fly with but the safest airline on the planet..they have never had a crash. It is a beautiful advert and showcases so many beautiful locations from our stunning outback and yes that is real to the beautiful coastlines the famous pink lakes and cities. Glad you enjoyed it so much as to me it still ranks as one of the loveliest commercials I have had the delight to see on one of our planes when arriving home. Keep Safe Keep Strong 🦘🦘🦘🦘🎵🎵🎶🎶
Yes travel to and from Australia takes a long time... partly because of where we are in the world and partly because Australia itself is so huge. If you fly from Melbourne to Tokyo for example more than half of the flight you are still flying over Australia. And Yes we love our (everything is trying to Murder you) country.
Yes Hugh Jackman is a triple threat. He acts, sings and can dance. He was the main star of Les Miserables . Kylie Minogue is a singer but she started out as a child actor, and later acted in tv shows before hitting it big internationally as a pop star...she is massive in the UK.
When Oprah came to Australia she had Hugh Jackman, Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman, Olivia Newton-John and Russell Crowe sing this with a choir, often one of the verses is sung in an Aboriginal language at the start of the song. It's so beautiful.
Suzie and Travis, I think the reason Aussies have taken a liking to you two are that you are genuine and not here just to get subs, also you say what you think with not much of a filter, and we like that.
Hugh Jackman is well known for singing. He sings in musicals, e.g. Les Miserable and "the Boy From Oz" where he played Peter Allen (incidentally the guy who released this song back in the '70s)
Just found out last night that my sister-in-law wants to visit us here in Australia next December for her 90th birthday. That’s 22-24 flying hours. Aussies call it the tyranny of distance but a huge % of us are World travellers because most of us have extended overseas families either directly or, like me, through marriage to a migrant.
Australia is nearly 24 hours of flying from London and almost that long from New York. About 12 hours from Tokyo and 14 hours from Dubai. So for us it is always a long trip when we want to go to the world's central hubs. Playing this song after a very long flight, flying over the Sydney Harbour Bridge or western suburbs of Melbourne, is special to us; especially those of us who can't sleep well on planes and are zonked coming in to land. Thank you for this great video!
This was made in the last 3 years. Artists were Kylie, Troy Sivan, Hugh, Ash, and I think the last was Adam Goodes, who used to play AFL. Yes you said the name correctly. Yes Hugh was in The Greatest Showman. He started out as a daytime tv actor, went to theatres, then to movies. There is a better advert made by Qantas from about 2000s, which does all the landscape scenery of Australia with the song aswell. This mainly focussed on recognized people.
QANTAS has been using this song in its advertisements since 1987. I actually prefer the version that shows more of our landscape, as this is what sets us apart from the rest of the world.
Yes, Wolverine sings! This song was first written and performed by Peter Allen, and Hugh Jackman played him in the stage show "The Boy from Oz" This song finishes the show. QANTAS adopted the song many years ago for their advertising, and it brings tears to my eyes when I hear it. The Australian childrens choir sing so beautifully. Check out the previous versions.
I was in Sri Lanka when the 2004 Tsunami hit and after 3 months of working there i flew back home. I had quite the moment as this song came on as we were landing and still tear up with a combination of joy and sorrow as i remember those terrible days and wonderful homecoming. Thanks Peter for writing this song, and to QANTAS for playing it as we come back to this lucky country we call home.
This is at least the 3rd ad of similar Qantas advert campaigns...more than 3 though, I'm sure. It was first done in 1987, then in 1998 they brought in the Qantas choir. A really great & popular campaign of ads. This last one really hit, especially with the nanna seeing her grandchild for the first time because of Covid. ✌️❤️🇦🇺
OMG i am in sydney myself it has been yrs since i have seen this ad and the first time ever brought tears to my eye's all i could think off was how people were much nicer and looked after everyone back then now i am 44 this year i thought i never see that ad again thank you guys for doing this video
I seen an older version of this ad in a movie theatre about 15yrs ago. I'd been away from Australia for 3yrs at that time, & the ad had me in tears missing home. 2weeks later I was back in Sydney
I believe the first time Peter Allen performed this song, was at a Royal Charity Concert in 1980 at the Sydney Opera House before the Queen and Prince Philip. Also on stage that night was Olivia Newton John singing Don't Cry For Me Argentina and John Farnham debuting his version of Help, which you have already reacted to.
As an Australian I am always bought tears and overwhelming emotional at our awesome country … we are so blessed ❤ and this ad epitomises being an aussie
A wonderful song first used by National Panasonic Australia. Peter appeared in the 90sec TV commercial. Shot in Australia and USA. He would appear at company functions including Xmas party. He was contracted for approx 8 years starting in 1980.
This song was written by the late Peter Allen, who was one of the first Aussie entertainers to have commercial success in America. QANTAS adopted it as their theme song, and it was incredibly successful.
1985: I was a member of the Australian Rosny Children’s Choir - we did a 21 day tour of New Zealand & on the day that we were due to fly home, our plane broke down- the director made the choice, rather than have 50 kids aged between 8-18 return to Australia on separate flights, that we would stay overnight at a hotel & fly home a day late - when we arrived back in Australia & got through customs, Mrs Filby had us all stand there and sing this in the middle of the airport- very emotional all around - I often wonder if this was the inspiration for the QANTAS ad!
I gotta tell ya, I've never seen so many videos talking about the cultural differences between America and Australia by ex pat Americans now living in Australia in the last 12 months. My first trip to the UK and QANTAS played "Man from Snowy River" on the way over.... geez, thanks guys...I was a blubbering mess. When we boarded to come home, the Chief Stewardess got on the p.a. Strong accent.I was done like a dinner. I told her it was so lovely to hear her voice just then. As if seeing the big red tail through the terminal window wasn't enough...
I love going overseas and meeting different cultures and beautiful people, but it always feels so good when the wheels hit the tarmac and im home again. Im blessed to be born in Australia.
There are numerous versions of this ad over the years. Each one better than the last. This one was released after covid so it was especially emotional.
My ancestors turned up here on the First Fleet. My grandfather was a lighthorseman who fought in WW1. I've travelled the world and always thought about going back home.
The song is a lot older than its association with Qantas. It was a hit song in Australia. Peter Allen wrote it while playing Las Vegas. He spent a lot of time touring US, Europe, and Asia, and his career meant he was always a long way from home. He had many famous songs, eve3n had an Oscar for one, but his best work was his songs about home.
All the celebrities and choir are exquisite, iconic song/ad, representing life, land people. QANTAS stands for Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services which was born in a small place called Longreach in the red outback of Queensland, go figure, one of the safest airlines in the world. A special mention to a first nations AFL player Adam Goodes at Bondi Swimming sea pool. I think this song is so special because so many Aussies relate to the unique images and song, and plus we love to travel (in general).
I came home on QF2 (for non-Aussies, that's the QANTAS flight from London to Sydney) in March this year. I boarded in Singapore and don't recall this playing post landing but then I was veerrryy jet lagged at that point. And yes, the sound at the intro is real - it's a didgeridoo. It produces a very haunting sound.
If you two want to know what it's really like being an American living in Australia then look at some of the Kinda Australian posts she tells it like it really is with all the pros and cons. I hope you two enjoy all her posts.
The original version of this ad from about 20 years ago just had the childrens choirs singing at exotic locations around the world. It was probably the best commercial to ever be produced by Australia. This version came out after the Covid border restrictions lifted to emphasise Qantas reconnecting the country to the world
Yes, had to admit it I shed a tear whilst watching this! We are a patriotic bunch but low key with it! Thx guys, loved this, greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
Great Southern Land by Icehouse is one of the most awesome Australian anthems and if you want to see how amazing our country is then definitely one to watch.
After working overseas for 2 years, my final flight out of the Philippines was on a Qantas flight and cried when I landed back in Sydney. I'm now 62yo but it was completely overwhelming to see Sydney from the air and know that I was finally home.
It always brings me to tears, as does The Seekers' "I am Australian", Eric Bogle's "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda", and the incredible "I Was Only 19". We don't recite the Oath of Allegiance, nor do we place a hand over our hearts for the National Anthem, but never underestimate the love we have for our country!

I, an Aussie and yea I tear up when I see this. I’m so glad they did a redo of the original ad like this but kept similarities. Brilliant.
I still call Australia home, was the song Austraian Peter Allan sang and wrote as he lived in America at the time😊
I believe the first time Peter Allen performed this song, was at a Royal Charity Concert in 1980 at the Sydney Opera House before the Queen and Prince Philip.
……when onboard a QF jet, which was/is constantly, & this song plays, I’ve always a hanky at the ready………never fails to tug………
A wonderful song first used by National Panasonic Australia. Peter appeared in the 90sec TV commercial. Shot in Australia and USA.
He would appear at company functions including Xmas party. He was contracted for approx 8 years starting in 1980.
I moved to Australia from England 50 years ago and I love this country so much. This song gives me goosebumps.
We love you Suzie and Travis.
Wolverine's initial public role was as a musical theatre actor. Hollywood were nervous about whether they should hire him as Wolverine!
Australia, Greatest little Country on earth, No Risk😎😎😎
I don't know about little, have you been to the desert
Have you reacted to I Am Australian by The Seekers yet? If not I highly recommend.
Absolutely!
You guys are honorary Aussies it would be awesome and such an amazing honor if you lived here 💙
If you came here you wouldn’t want to leave. I love this big island and love you too. ❤
I love going overseas and meeting different cultures and beautiful people, but it always feels so good when the wheels hit the tarmac and im home again. Im blessed to be born in Australia.
There are numerous versions of this ad over the years. Each one better than the last. This one was released after covid so it was especially emotional.
Coming home, I always tear up when they play this
My ancestors turned up here on the First Fleet.
Plus Ellie Cole paraolympic swimmer ..😊

That was one of the best ads of all time! 🐨 🇦🇺
Indeed, they still play it; pre-takeoff and post-landing 💕
It’s a lovely little moment
I came home on QF2 (for non-Aussies, that's the QANTAS flight from London to Sydney) in March this year. I boarded in Singapore and don't recall this playing post landing but then I was veerrryy jet lagged at that point.
And yes, the sound at the intro is real - it's a didgeridoo. It produces a very haunting sound.
Every time i see this tears in the eyes. Hi from down under.
If you two want to know what it's really like being an American living in Australia then look at some of the Kinda Australian posts she tells it like it really is with all the pros and cons. I hope you two enjoy all her posts.
IF ONLY A PROMOTER COULD SPONSOR THE BAND ON A TOUR OF AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺 WINK WINK 😉
Always brings me to tears!
One of the greatest commercials ever made IMHO.
Yes Wolverine is a broadway type actor . He can sing and dance and cut you to ribbons at the same time. 😂
Brilliant reaction! My favourite reaction couple!
After working overseas for 2 years, my final flight out of the Philippines was on a Qantas flight and cried when I landed back in Sydney. I'm now 62yo but it was completely overwhelming to see Sydney from the air and know that I was finally home.
love my country Australia..you guys rock xx
With all said and done.. Thankfully we are situated where we are.
Doesn't matter where you are born or where you come from.. Australia = Home.
