Shelby Dennis There is a horse here in North Carolina that is for sale and if she doesn’t get sold soon she will be killed. She is owned by these people who don’t want to have anything to do with her or any other horses. They are selling three other horses but they won’t be killed if they aren’t sold. She is trained but can use a bit of touch ups. Please contact me if you want to know more.
I rescued a yearling from a kill pen in Louisiana. Fortunately she bonded with me very quickly. She hasnt bit or kicked but shes quite nervous about around strangers. One step at a time. It's a long road but worth every step.
The progress he has made is so amazing and impressive. Your patience and understanding for Simon's behavior is really commendable. He's on his way to becoming a great horse.
I always adored horses since I was a little girl. I never thought I would ever own one but at age 51 a call came to me about a appy mini horse mare that needed rescue, I am a poultry farmer but I do have the space and the means to bring a mini here, just zero experience, that was last December. In June she gave us a surprise filly. I absolutely love working with them and should another equine need me, you can bet they can come here. A mini Donkey needed me so he came here to. I found it awesome that when I got my first horse, we both were a little scared of each other and it took time to both be comfortable with each other. We both learned at the same time. Now she is my best friend. Rescuing is definitely the way to go. I have zero regrets.
I totally understand!!! I would give up EVERY THING to able to do that !!!! See. I love it. It’s never to late for your dreams ! Hers happened. Is mine next or coming ? I’m 53 and also love horses !!!!
I absolutely agree 💯 % nothing better than gentalling a horse yourself, rewarding doesn't even cover the felling you get when they start trusting you and giving their own rewards for a job well done. Horses are truly therapeutic 💜
Thank-you so much for your patient, constructive, productive efforts: Compassionate steward of animal- kind and teacher by exemplary example that you are. Kudos to your mom for well-done parenting. Blessings, always.
Great way to train!!! Don't force them out of their comfort zone. Give treats when they do go out of their comfort zone even when it's just for a second. This is the kind and intelligent way to train. Train with kindness. I love how you have rescued these horses too! Keep up the good and kind work.
You're doing a great job with Simon, Shelby Dennis. With how he was at the beginning until now, the bond you've created with your mothers help, is fantastic!! And it's only been just over 2 months, I can't wait to see how he turns out!! Keep your head up, keep smiling, you're doing entreat job!!
you have done amazing job with him. kinda makes me tear up because in some level i understand simon's fears. i've been riding for over 10 years so this makes me extremely happy 💖 horses are beautiful animals.
My heart can take to watch these kind of videos, even though they are so important... I just wanted to say THANK YOU for what you’re doing to Earths animals. Thank you for what you’re doing for them. I hope with all my heart that animal abuse will be gone, forever. That no animal will get hurt. Once again, Thank you. Take care.
You guys are angels. This restores my faith in humanity, more people should be like you. Taking in a horse and nurturing it the way you did, with no force but love, takes a lot of patience and you guys are doing an amazing job.
Well done Shelby and to your wonderful horses they are v lucky to have a Mummy like you 😁 I have an ex racehorse my pride & joy. Love Sheiona over here in Ireland
Vanessa Reese I’m English and don’t know what barrle racing is. Cpuld you explain please. Well done for such a wonderful rescue is there any chance of a photo or two?
@@christinecronje4704 it’s literally what it says. Racing around barrels in a figure eight. Right ? To make the best time against someone else. Usually with quarter horses. Correct ? I hope that helps alittle
Wow 2 months already?! Shelby, your work is absolutely amazing! You give so much positivity to the equestrian community and greatly benefit horse’s lives! Thank you Shelby for being a great example for the rest of us!
Absolutely love this video. Your truly have blessed to have the facilities and the ability to care for these animals. Good for you girl, keep up the good work. Thank you for sharing.
You have done a splendid job with Simon. I didn’t get to see his face head on before but now I see how stunning his face markings are. He’s so cute and handsome it breaks my heart he was at auction. Good on you!
Shelby, you are so smart and level-headed. Your mind works quick and quietly, which shows when you work with your horses. You are also focused, which is so important when working with any horse. Your patient and calm nature puts other trainers to shame. Well, let's just say, other people who think they know it all. You have a wonderful grasp of how each horse has its own personality and you deal with them accordingly. I would love to ride with you someday.
Good, no, amazing job with Simon, Shelby! The patients you show with Simon is very impressive! Simon seems to be in a much better place than when you first got him! You are an amazing trainer, also your progress with Rue is just amazing!
I am only 11 and I have been riding since before I could walk. I now Barrel Race and it's extremely fun. The horse I run is a horse that my aunt rescued from a slaughter house. When we got him he look horrible. We started giving him supplements in his grain and now he is absolutely gorgeous. So far we have won $130 but I'm running him this Tuesday in Arizona.
Congratulations on your wins! And it's awesome you saved him. I'm glad he's doing better now that he is in your care. Thanks for your comment -Shelby's moderator
NO EYE CONTACT! Alot if people don't realize that with a horse like this, eye contact is very threatening. Many animals are like this. You've done fantastic with this little horse!! Good job, did it the right way!👍🏻💕🐎 My horse does "eye contact" right back at me, he's never been hit or abused. He is so trusting, rather a silly, goofball type. This is nothing short of miraculous! You and your mum should be so proud of yourselves... and Simon!! How did you manage to wean him from the friend he was rescued with??
I adopted my horse, I believe he was 8 at the time. It was hard work, but I was able to start leading him and grooming him. Luckily, he wasn’t afraid of other horses or people. He became great friends with my Arabian. Now I have both of them happy and healthy! (my Arabian name is peanut and my “rescued horse” is jelly.)
Can't wait to see his continued progression 💖my boy was from the auction ...he was an unhandled ,sort of feral ungelded yearling.....with lots of patience and some ups and downs he quickly became my best friend and I would never trade him for anything 💖💖🐎
Simon, Simon, Simon, what a handsome boy you are. Thank GOD you were adopted by this wonderful angel. I wish that all the horses could be rescued. God Bless you all. Can I buy a t-shirt with you on it ???
