    I am not sure where the best place to submit questions for your Q&A sessions is, but I just found your channel and have binged watch several of your videos and have a few questions coming from our family of five kids under the age of nine. 1) what do you do with kids that never want to be home not because they don’t like in the environment but they are such social and novelty seeker types. They always want to be out and about the town. The question of the day as always, where can we go today? 2) how do you motivate kids that won’t do their independent work 3) at what age and how do you incorporate extracurricular activities? 4) do you use any kind of online classes? Thank you!

      Hi! Wow, thank you so much for supporting my channel!
      Great questions! I'll jot these down for a future q and a video, but attempt to quickly answer them here.
      1. I think when we had fewer kids this came up more often. I think because our house is so full with older kids who drive, plus younger kids who are busy/loud, etc., even a day at home seems very busy, so our kids don't ask to go out as much as they used to. We still do go out, but don't feel the need for it as much, if that makes sense?
      2. I did a video on this. Here's the link. ua-cam.com/video/xRthCxvlk2E/v-deo.htmlsi=snYWMgnOsUhuLQ2M
      3. We focus on the oldest kids starting extracurriculars first. We take it year by year and work really hard to not be too busy. Family life first!

    I just watched your video of how to homeschool when you have a toddler and I honestly teared up because it was just the encouragement I needed! With a 6, 4, and 2 year old this year has been such a challenge in regards to having a two year old boy who has a lot of energy and excitement for life and wants everyone to play with him instead of doing school. Thank you for your words that it gets easier and this is probably as hard as it gets (because it's hard!) and all the helpful tips! It was just what I needed to hear today! I haven't browsed your videos yet but can I ask what y'all use for homeschool curriculum? I loved to see how organised you all are with the notebooks and such and the kids memorising Scripture. Wondering what you use!

    • @OurLifeHomeschooling
      @OurLifeHomeschooling  6 місяців тому

      Aww, thanks for sharing that! I'm so glad to hear this encouraged you. It does get easier! The early years are foundational. You and your kids are learning everything for the first time. I talk about my curriculum a little in all of the videos, but here's the video I did on everything we use.

      Keep going in the incredible work you are doing with your kids!

    Sheri I started this week with the checklist and it’s been such a breeze. They really do the same things over and over and it makes no sense to keep writing things every week. Thank you for that!
    We went to the movies last Saturday and it showed the Wild Robot movie is coming out soon. We were so excited because we loved this book! We are about to read The Wild Robot Escapes after Johnny Tremaine.

    Our co-op this year also did the periodic table and the human body/anatomy. We went through the My Body Book where the children trace their body and butcher paper, then color and cut out each organ and glue it onto their individual outline.

    Have you always used ambleside? I have an upcoming first grader and I'm trying to figure a path for us. I'm torn between sonlight and ambleside. I think ambleside has much better quality of literature but I've heard it's very dense, heavy and children don't engage or find it interesting and they love sonlight way more. Sonlight definitely appears to have more 'fun' and easier books.

    • @OurLifeHomeschooling
      @OurLifeHomeschooling  7 місяців тому

      Yes, I have always used AO, but it can be overwhelming when you have multiple children. I did a post on how we make it work for our large family. It explains why I use it and why I like it. Here it is. ourlifehomeschooling.com/2023/04/20/ambleside-online-homeschool-curriculum-for-a-large-family/
      Picking your curriculum is one of the hardest parts of the early years. You almost have to try and just see if you like something. I think it's so important that you go with what works best for YOU, not somebody else. I say try the one that you're leaning towards. If you're not happy, you can always change.

    Also years ago with my older half of my children, I had them lay down on the floor on a big sheet of paper and drew an outline of their body. Then we had this little booklet that you could make copies of the heart, lungs kidneys etc. They could color each body part and place it on there life-size model of me 😊 I don't have the little booklet anymore. I had borrowed it from an older homeschool mom so I don't know the name.

      This is part of Veritas Press history songs. We have done their self-paced history classes for several years in a row. We are taking a break this year, (just continuing to review the songs), but probably going to pick it back up next year. They are having their spring sale...$100 off all self-paced courses until March 19th. I can't recommend them enough! It is excellent!
