A video capture of the disassembly is excellent for troubleshooting and repairing several problems. Great idea. Very helpful.

I've found running 1 or 2 cycles with vinegar dissolves the minerals. (No need to open up the appliance.) Going forward, when you're done brewing, blow off the residual water/steam thru the brew channel, not the milk-steaming channel (the manual states blow off pressure thru the milk-steam channel, but this section is less prone to clogging since the pressure is higher, IMO. It's good to wipe off the milk film from the milk-steamer, if you are meticulous enough). Make sure to remove the espresso grinds holder (with the unit pressurized, with valve in the off position) then place the carafe under the appliance, and turn valve to "brew" and catch the water-steam in the carafe. The appliance should run trouble free from now-on :) You can run a quick blast of steam thru the milk-steamer, but most residual steam should be used on the espresso-section.

It sounds like you've got a good amount of experience using this machine, I've been digging for a tutorial video but there's doesn't seem to be one for this model. I picked mine up from a thrift shop awhile ago, but I've never used an espresso machine at home before, so it was a little terrifying. I looked up the manual online but I find following along with a video a lot easier for me. Any help would be much appreciated if you could!

Although my espresso maker is a Sensio C15 it is literally the same. Mine would no longer power up as shown by the neon bulb not responding, although I checked for continuity on the power wires, thermostat and heater. To remove the knob, without breaking it, first remove the base using a small Torx security bit for the 3 screws that hold it down. Once done shine a light inside deep inside toward the knob and you'll see a small rectangular hole with a white plastic detent. Using a long narrow metallic stick, press that detent down to release the knob's latch, while pulling out the knob from outside. Once the knob is out, you can then undo the 4 screws inside. They hold the top cover and this will expose a tiny lever switch that the knob actuates while rotating. You can then check that it closes properly using a continuity tester and some sharp probes... I think the rest is trivial. Cheers and happy fixing! (Thanks BTW!)

My Morphy Richards was clogged despite everything else working so I took it apart and the outlet was clogged solid with coffee grinds.
    All working now.Good times :^D
Don't know if it's a good idea drinking all this coffee at 10:30pm though....

I have a Krup 993. Looks just like the one you are taking apart. But the top on mine is screwed on from underneath and I couldn't figure out how to open it from underneath, there were no screws on the bottom. So I broke the top off without damaging anything except the screw posts. The problem with mine was that the turn knob to activate the microswitch wasn't making contact. Just had to push the knob in further. Put it back together and it works fine now. Maybe you could show how to access the screws that release the top. Thanks

those arent water deposits, the cheap metal they used when building these deteriorates over time, and flakes off into the espresso. i have a Type 963 that was built in the 80's or early 90's , and it looked like i was panning for gold when i rinsed out the boiler. amazon has some great brushes which can fit in my krups which has an even smaller opening, they are great because you can push it into the boiler, and really scrub out the flakes of metal

This really looks like mine. I thought also that my thermal switch was broken and ordered a couple online but not sure what is the temperature as I cannot read from the old. Anyone could tell me? I got 175°C but might be too much? So far it boils but I am scared it wouldn't open the circuit on a really high temperature.
Thanks a lot for the video in any case!

Did you know if the top cap (first piece you remove) have any security system?, because mine broke a center and have a hole in a middle with a rubber piece (broke) with a spring, I'm wondering if sealing can resolve it, what do you think?, thank you

    • @vanstromi7810

You have to remove the bottom of it first. Then use a flashlight to look deep inside the machine toward the control lever and there will be a small square hole with a small rectangular white release button. This button is only visible with the lever set to off. Then use a long flathead screwdriver to pop/push the release button while simultaneously gently pulling on the lever. It took a few tries and I felt like I had to press the release button pretty hard. When it did release the lever came right out easily and wasn’t broken.
