I just love how Mal and Stephen are having a friendly domestic argument in chat. It makes me think I should read the stream chat more often instead of just listening to the audio.

1:02:00 the talk about being a content creator was really good. like jerod, I relate with not being able to get gigs (in this case as an artist, the gig is getting people to notice your art) offline, but online it's an entirely different story. doesn't matter how you start, if you put enough time into it, you'll be able to find your audience. and it also doesn't matter how big or small that is, an audience is an audience.
but they're also right that especially nowadays, while it's easier and more possible to become a content creator, it's also become especially difficult to stand out from hundreds of thousands of other people who want to make stuff. add onto that the need to chase trends and how algorithms reward trend chasing to the point that you need to do that to stand out--it can be pretty discouraging for someone who doesn't want to partake in the trend chasing and just want to do their own thing. but that's where also the most helpful advice for all of this comes into play: approach all of this as a HOBBY first and foremost, not as a business. if you go into content creation with the mindset of "oh, this'll be great to make money with", then you'll be disappointed. unless you have insane luck with going viral in a big way (and honestly, going viral is the last thing anyone as a content creator should go for, because like tom said, it's temporary), it's going to be a lot--and I mean A LOT--of work to make it work for you
also, can't stress this enough, DON'T UNDERCHARGE YOURSELF. anyone who shames you for trying to be properly compensated for your skills and thinks you're asking too much is not worth listening to

Stephen's Strong Food Opinions are always entertaining. It does feel to me like the idea of a sandwich as a desirable meal option, rather than something disappointing you have in a quick lunch break because there's no time for a proper meal, is pretty much only an American (or North American) phenomenon.

My personal favorite way to take the piss out of every cutscene (not to mention one of my favorite shards in the entire game) in "Bloodstained" was the Lili's shard, "Bunnymorphosis." my go-to sandwich is the NY Steamer from Firehouse Subs. Otherwise, I go with ham, salami, pepperoni, lettuce, provolone, mayo, mustard, and Italian dressing all on Italian bread. Not heated.

I’m with Jon on Soulslike combat. I don’t mind the dodge and counter approach, but I want to be able to punish my foes for it like you can in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, any Musou game, Bayonetta, MGR, Wonderful 101, or more recently The Skywalker Saga. Not being able to chain or cancel into different moves to keep laying on the hurt and having to persistently be on the defense just doesn’t cut it for me. If I were to play Elden Ring, I’d probably take the Crendor approach and have all my familiars/summons do all the fighting.
It’s kind of a shame that the combat in Tunic is like that because I’ve heard so many good things about it. The fact that it made a completely sober Tom cry must mean that the story is phenomenal.
Speaking of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, the music and the environments are the best they’ve been in a Kirby game to date. Already got a 100% save (all Target Times beat even Tilt-and-Roll’s Extra Hard) and am currently revisiting stages to set the highest star coin scores and grinding Rare Stones to power up all of the abilities to the max. I love every one of the stages (World 3 is my favorite overall), and the story telling and atmosphere through it all. Combat feels really good and handles a lot of depth perception issues other 3D platformers have with their combat superbly (if it looks like you hit your target, you hit it, even if you didn’t really hit them were you to move the camera around). Mixed feelings about the flavor text being tied to the figurines and not the pause screen, but the flavor text is really good as is the writing, and despite the stigma around gacha systems, the gacha system in this game is extremely generous and makes this the easiest collection to complete in a modern Kirby game. The mission system absolutely blows though, but it’s only around for the main game. Worst part of the game. Should’ve handled it like they did the figurine unlock hints. If you don’t mind minor spoilers, play with a list of the missions on the side for reference. Otherwise, same feelings that I have towards Legends Arceus apply to KatFL: I don’t want this to be the only style of Kirby game moving forward, but if they do continue with 3D Kirby, this is a really solid foundation for that style of gameplay and feels like the next natural step after Blowout Blast and Battle Royale.
On the topic of Tom’s Yoga Pants, I still remember the moment when that sub goal got hit on Tom’s Super Mario Galaxy stream nearly if not verbatim. “God dammit! ProtonJon! Thank you for being the 250th subscriber! Oh joy! Taking…taking the glory for himself!” IIRC, that happened on Good Egg Galaxy as Tom was climbing the tower on the first planet to get to the Launch Star.
If I am at home, my sandwich is whatever sliced meats we have in the fridge (usually Italian in origin), lettuce, whatever sliced cheese we have in the fridge, white or whole wheat bread, and mustard. Maybe dill chips.
If I am getting a sandwich from a sandwich shop, it depends. The four most common ones I’ve had are Subway’s Cold Cut Trio/Combo (mustard, provolone, mayo, lettuce, tomato, dill chips, oil & vinegar, salt & pepper, white/Italian, not toasted), an Italian (close to the Cold Cut order for toppings minus the mayo), Philly Cheese Steak (tomato, lettuce, mayo, toasted, Swiss or provolone, extra meat if possible. No peppers on mine preferably but I will eat them), and a Meatball sub as close to my typical Subway order (White/Italian, provolone, pepperoni, toast it after adding that all on, parmesan, salt & pepper). Love the taste of meatballs in a toasted pepperoni blanket and the way the cheese and bread hold everything together. I do like a good Caprese from Earl of Sandwich at least as well as any kind of Grilled Cheese, but I don’t often ask for anything extra for those orders. Been a while since I had a Pastrami sandwich thinking about it.
Aren’t Mandalorians trained in martial arts, or was it just Jango who used his fists in Bounty Hunter? Also Kyle Katarn and the Gran enemy class in Jedi Academy know how to throw a punch.

Out of curiosity, which Musou games had the dodge and punish option? I know Age of Calamity did because you could that in Breath of the Wild, what its based on. But I do not remember being able to do that in Dynasty Warriors 8, Hyrule Warriors, or Fire Emblem Warriors. I do agree with you on the wanting to be able to punish your foes if you can dodge and counter them

    • @Rexaura888
      @Rexaura888 2 роки тому +2

@@CardScientist Enemy Captains and Commanders in Hyrule Warriors will have at least one attack where they show their Weak Point Gauge briefly. You can also counter some of them and Giant Bosses with your items if they use specific attacks.
There isn’t really a system like that in any other Musou I’m aware of, but at least for Pirate Warriors some enemies have specials they love to spam if you get to aggressive where only a few specific moves or actions can knock them out of it, so they do make you wait things out before you can continue your attack. FEW also doesn’t really have a counter system (it does have the same weak point gauge system as HW and AoC but you only really need to look out for those if you’re at a weapon disadvantage) especially with how the weapon triangle was implemented, but for the final boss, I find that it pays to not be too aggressive even in the Awakening state as on the harder difficulties your health can get torn to shreds if you try to get in while it’s attacking.

As it was asked at 1:51:10 "What happened 9 months ago?"
In the United States, that would have been around the 4 of July. So... I'm assuming alcohol might have been involved. Also, some states would be having a State Fair, so... more alcohol and adrenaline might have happened. Summer vacation, so time off from work *very possible about 30+ years ago*...
We, as adults with mature brains, can figure what happened from there... bananas.

sadly I'm not a big sandwich person. Asking me to go to any food place that is all about sandwiches, even if you tell me I can make my own, I have no ideal of what kind of sandwich I want to consume when it doesn't help that I don't regularly eat stuff under the vegetable food chart.
Asking/advising newcomers to stream/wanting to stream for a living is a very risky thing given if you don't have something to fall back into, then you can't be 100% certain that you can make a living on just streaming as a main source of income. Twitch has a "biased" way of who stays on top vs streamers that can get away with alot of things and never get banned for life even when the evidence is right there. Not to mention the cryptic Algorithm of who becomes famous and who remains a nobody. If you treat Streaming like a business and not as a hobby that you enjoy, then where's the fun.
