It is always a pleasure to see you identify the fault and then explain how to find and diagnose the issues. Please continue the videos and to teach us. Fantastic..
hi richard well done. This is very common fault shorted first mosfet. If you got no 19v after the current sensor. You got 3 options shorted first mosfet, shortes main power rail or something wrong with the charging ic. Also when you have an problem when not charging battery first suspect is the first mosfet or battery. When you have rush limit mosfet p and n channel. Then you will get that problem. This are just tips i give. Keep up the good movies. Also the battery coil will give random votage between 0v and 19v when there is no battery present.
Excellent tutorial Richard…This grey-haired bloke is getting into micro-soldering and these vids of yours are informative and a great review for troubleshooting. Than you. Darrell - 🇨🇦
Well done. Of course there are viewers of all abilities here and I am not the best laptop tech out there either, so I have to work through things logically sometimes.
Awesome Video , have been watching your back catalogue of videos. there is a huge amount of knowledge to be gained by watching your repairs. It's really nice to see another content creator from the canary islands doing the same thing as me on my channel :D ofc i am far from as good as you at the electronics repair but i try my best. Cheers mate
@@RetroUpgrade Well actually I live and work in San Fernando, Maspalomas! email me I'll give you the address of the workshop electronicanaria@outlook.com I subscribed your channel 😉
The first input mosfet has an internal forward biased diode so 20V could pass through the first mosfet too even if it is off and not shorted it can have diode drop that will happen sometimes i've seen it also but Great repair! All the Lenovos I have either got dead SuperI/O or southbridge is short. Nice to see something different for lenovo this time round.
@Super Computing Yeah I did know there was something I wasn't quite understanding about the circuit, because the first mosfet would have to be providing power somehow to the 200K resistor so the mosfets could be turned on by the small mosfets that control the gate voltage. Thanks for your comments 🙂
Really appreciate all of the time and detail that you put into your videos. I enjoy repairing anything I can get my hands on but know very little about the electronic repair. This newer generation doesn't want to learn these skills as so much is just a toss it in the trash and buy something new era.

Another mystery case where “it worked fine”, until ???, and the diagnosis tells a much different story, yeah?
(Something missing from their story).
Lenovo? First check EC for burnholes
@BigMouth BillyThanks for the advice. This one is working now so in this case it wasn't that.
