Very helpful video! Thank you. I'm going to use some of those ideas. I am taking university French classes to acquire a solid basis of French grammar. But I find the textbook ("Horizons" published by Cengage) lacking in many ways, so I use a lot of on-line resources, like "French Learning Hub"! Modern language textbooks have very specific paths and methods for teaching which don't always fit me. The university has a "french café" once a week where students can meet and talk with native French speakers. It's great! During summer break, I'm using DuoLingo, re-reading my textbook, reading other French learning books, reading french stories, using Berlitz flash cards, and listening to "Little Talk in Slow French" and ""Radio France." Yard/library sales are a great source for French language books. I have set a summer goal of drastically improving my listening comprehension as that is the skill I am most disappointed in for myself. While I'm enjoying DuoLingo, I find it easy to get caught up in it's game-ification and forget that learning French is my goal - not winning points, badges, etc. But I like that nearly all the lessons include spoken audio - the "See it, Hear it, Say it, Write it" principle really works! Lately, I am trying something new. I use Google Translate to transcribe my spoken French and I repeat until I say it right. I use DuoLingo lessons and my French books as source material. I think that's working quite well and my spoken French is much, much better. (As evidence, my tongue is sore!) I'm not embarrassed to speak bad French to my iPhone like I am sometimes to actual, knowledgeable people, even though they are always kind and helpful. Being overly self-conscious is the bane of language learning (and dancing)!

Great video! I do a lot of what you do, but I need to read and write more. I’ve never used tandem, but will try. Good info on the new “R” sound… where in the old music of Edith Piaf. Rolling her Rs like Spanish
I think reading has helped me the most with my French - it improves everything: vocabulary, grammar, spelling, writing etc. Tandem and HelloTalk (a very similar app to Tandem) are amazing places where you can practice writing and speaking

do you think duolingo is a good app for french? est-ce que tu penses duolingo est bonne pour français? (first time doing this and i hope you correct me on this because the part after duolingo feels wierd)
I've used Duolingo and I think it's good for vocabulary but I use Pimsler now and it has given me much better listening comprehension and forces me to speak. I am on lesson 146 or 150 so I need to find another method to improve. I also listen to the podcast Little Talk in Slow French and now I am putting it at 1.25 speed.

Yes Duolingo is a good app, im using it daily to learn english and if you play like 20-30min a day you will see the results
ive used duolingo for a while and in my honest opinion. no, you can learn french much faster by using other methods. :)
