I have worked in the trades since turning 18. I'm 37 now. My Dad taught me as a small kid, this piece of knowledge. It has saved me from being completely physically destroyed and still productive.
Kev could’ve been one of the greatest bookers and promoters ever, but his ego and blind dedication to his buddies got in his way. He absolutely has a brain for the business and anybody who doesn’t think so just hates him for other reasons.
@@TPaineYang There was a loss of fans well before today's style of wrestling. See: The Invasion Angle (2001), which was a story, in a time full of stories. In WWE, there are still stories - just a matter of their quality. I think it's simplification to think that wrestling style alone is the reason for wrestling's post-AE lull. If you're focusing on indies, then yes, of course there would be less storytelling - no contracts = no certainty of a wrestler being around long enough to finish a storyline. Go to NJPW for the best stories and wrestling in the world.
Hes so right about facials and telling a story. I believed wrestling was real longer than I should have because of Shawn Michaels facial expressions and Randy Savage's selling
When I think back, yeah there were a lot of great camera shots in Shawn Michaels matches. "I'm sorry, I love you", "Stay down!", etc. You don't really think about the coordination that has to go into getting all of that, especially for a live event. Instead it just helps you get lost in the moment.
A major part of that comes down on talent. IF we can know the story we're telling in advance, then we can inform crew to know where to be. If I know I have a certain moment in my match that's pertinent to the story, then I better make sure the camera crew and fans have the best way to be able to view so they can understand the story I'm telling.
@@anthonywarren9885 Yeah, he isn't worried about anyone's opinion lol. He has a really great story about a pitcher having "just" one pitch, but nobody can hit it.

He's 1000% right. Today's wrestlers are more athletic and acrobatic. They are way worse at telling a story. Half of them are smiling while getting their ass beat in the ring. It makes no sense. It ruins the belief you are watching a legit battle.
Each move represents a shift in the story, don’t need 1000 moves ,maybe on a ppv you pull out 2-3 new moves or rare moves you use but yea 5 moves is really good ,

The comment about Foley though. When you're 7 feet tall and have the genetics of Kevin Nash you don't have to do much to get noticed or be considered for a top spot. Foley HAD to do those crazy things to stand out because he wasn't gifted physique-wise.
I wish I didn't, but I agree with you... I just wish Foley wouldn't have helped in the popularization of death matches. (I hadn't heard of any of that stuff until Foley was acknowledged with all of it.) But I was young, so I'm sure I would have found it eventually. I feel like his psychology was better than all of the jaw dropping "stunned" moments he had. But he is one of my top 5 favorites, so I accept all of him lmao.

@ninjast4r These marks stay on the same BS. The KLIQ are evil, Cornette is God and Russo is the Devil. Shawn is overrated and can't fight. Silly shit. They don't know anything about what they're talking about. No one is perfect, but Nash is extremely intelligent as far as the business.
