    JROD turning around 102.5 MPH from Miller to dead center was an elite moment yesterday. Third fastest pitch taken yard in the Statcast era.

    I think the Snell/Montgomery situation will cause agents to change how they approach the offseason. The expected stats for both of them were much worse than their end-of-the-year numbers last season. As much as people like to talk about “collusion” or whatever, I think that was the main reason those guys were waiting around so long. They wanted to be paid like top-5 pitchers in the league when the numbers just didn’t show that being the case.

      It will change ever agent except the one that needs to change...he will still think it was a fluke situation that he could change.

    Regarding Justyn-Henry Malloy, I actually learned a while ago he grew up in the same town/borough I did, though he did not attend the local HS like me. On top of that, I had been unknowingly following his GF on one of my IG accounts. Huge congrats to him on making it to the show and starting it in one of the best ways possible. I wish him nothing but the best in his big league career.

    I wouldn't say the White Sox couldn't possibly push this streak further. People forget that only three years ago Baltimore lost 19 in a row in their 110 loss season. These White Sox look a lot worse and are definitely more demoralized than the 2021 Orioles.

    Kind of like how there is a deadline in soccer to sign players before the Summer transfer window closes, I feel like there should be something similar, but I think that it should end March 1st. At minimum, it gives the players 4 months (from end of World Series) to weigh the contract offers they have, and to pick one. For those players who are on non-postseason teams, or who exited in the WCS or DS, it gives them even more time. Pitchers and catchers have to report around Valentine’s Day, so I think March 1st is perfect to set a, must sign with a team before this date kind of thing. It helps both the team and player. The team will know what they have going into the first game of the season, and the player will be able to train at a high level, and get ready and fit for when the season starts

    People can blame spring training all they want, and whine about analytics nerds all they want. But the analytics clearly predicted pretty severe regression for both Snell and Montgomery... maybe not to THIS extent but acting like it's just spring training is ridiculous. Snell had absurdly unsustainable babip and Montgomery just flat out had mediocre peripherals across the board.

    No offense to Trevor, and I know ballplayers work their asses off.
    Most of us fans have zero pity for Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery. Both turned down substantially larger offers in the greedy hopes of finding one idiot owner who would meet Scott Boras' demands.
    It works a lot of the time. It didn't in these instances. Both these people will still see exponentially more money this year than most hard-working people will see in their lifetimes.
    The amount of money floating around and the COST TO FANS/VIEWERS does take some degree of fun out of the game.

    Snell is a mediocre pitcher at best. Take away the only good year he ever had, 2018 I believe, and he's not even .500 career. He averages just over 5 IP per start, and i mean JUST. How was he ever considered a top flight starter? I dont get it.

    Snell and Montgomery effed themselves over trying to rack up value but in the end they just sabotaged them in the season. Montgomery is more annoying since hes just a little bit above average and just cashed up on the world series moment. Most of these players have insane egos, like you’re not Ohtani. 🤷🏻‍♀️ And it’s embarrassing the response he has to his failures, players need to stop being so greedy.

    • @davidsigura9286
      @davidsigura9286 4 місяці тому +1

      I don’t blame any player for trying to extract as much from their employer they believe they can. Wouldn’t you rather call the billionaire owners greedy for refusing to foster competitive rosters? That said, I believe these specific cases are examples of the players’ agent misunderstanding these players values in this market, and that’s what hurt the players the most.

    • @babychococat123
      @babychococat123 4 місяці тому +1

      @@zachmoney716 Who does the agent work for? Their client? Right? The clients, if smart, should have the rights to say “Hey, person that gets a share of my money, I don’t think this is correct/preferable for me.” Why does no one think players can be accountable for their actions anymore. Anyways, I do agree that Boras is messing up the market.

    Oh cry me a river about how dozens of millions isn’t enough reward to sit on the il or post a 7 era. I must just not “understand” these things the way you, in your infinite wisdom, do.
    News flash, winning a cy young after years of crap doesn’t make you an ace, and similar story with Montgomery. There is a huge gap between snell and Corbin burnes. There was nothing to suggest last year was a turnaround for snell’s career, it was worse than his 18 year and it’s not like 18 was a sign of what came after.
    I know snell has crazy peak years, but his other years are so much worse that I would way rather have a guy that is consistently top 10 and even 20 over snell with his 2 awards and a bunch of shit years.

      They just swept a team that came in 36-23 with one of the best offenses in all of baseball and gave up 2 runs in 3 games plus an extra inning that included the Manfred Runner. Whether you want to claim strength of schedule or not is up to you, but their pitching is absolutely dominant. They aren’t going to struggle against teams better than .500 when their pitching will keep them in nearly every single game no matter who they play.
