I don't know what paperwork you got with the bike (title, bill of sale, etc.) but I'm curious how you are dealing with the VIN? The VIN is on the frame, usually on the steering head. If you swap frames it won't match your paperwork. How are you handling that?
Yeah, great question. While I did get a clean title for the bike, I swapped the frames. I registered it under the VIN on the donor frame which I was able to get a bill of sale for. Then I registered it through Vermont, since they don't require titles on vehicles older than 15 years. A bit of a process but everything is legal.

A bicycle shop would have probably pulled it for a few bucks or free
I never thought about that, but when I go through this again I'm trying it. I hate pulling races. Great idea.
