There he is! For high risk you can't beat the maul types, ending fights in just a few swings. For low risk and companions, it's all poles all day. Aspirant's iron-shod quarterstaff and pitchforks are good forever and can grapple whereas the 2h billhook is great for AI. Spears of all kinds are both powerful and safe. Without the armour of higher tiers protecting you against random scrapes, mixing it up on the inside is just asking for trouble.
