  • From a 1960 television special that reunited many of the big bands and singers from the 1940's, here are Vaughn Monroe and his orchestra with The Moonmaids vocal group performing one of Vaughn's biggest hits, There I've Said It Again. 1950's television host, Ronald Reagan introduces Vaughn, who also leads his band in a few bars of his theme song, Racing with the Moon. Reagan was regular host of General Electric Theater, and had guested in 1958 on NBC-TV's The Gisele MacKenzie Show, where he joined his hostess in a couple duets. When Reagan's television spotlight grew dim, he found work elsewhere. In the 1960's Vaughn left RCA Victor records, where he also served as pitchman for many of their products, and went on to re-record many of his hits in stereo for Dot Records, updated his sound with an LP of 'stomp' material, and recorded a couple albums of sacred music, along with headlining major night clubs and concert venues. By the time Vaughn hit the age of 62, he, sadly, left us after a brief illness.

He was such a great singer-every song he sang was terrific. It is too bad that many of the modern singers do not have the talent that he had (along with Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, et al).
