R1 EXUP Delete & heat wrapping!!

- Outlining how to delete your EXUP or exhaust servo motor in.. most applications but specifically for the 07-08 Yamaha YZF-R1's.
Greatly improved ride-ability (probably due to having a faulty system initially) and the exhaust note in the upper RPM's is sooo good now too! I show the temperature difference in un-wrapped and wrapped headers and mid pipe as well as some sound clips of the exhaust note (exup delete/ stainless de-cat mid pipe & Yoshimura Carbon muffler W/out the baffles)

Nice rasping sound , love it 👍🏻 . Got the same bike in grey , my exup was goosed as the cables had been severed, so i replaced them , kept exup & its gutsy af , it brakes traction in the dry , pulls so strong 💪 . Thanks for the tutorial, I'm gona wrap my zorsts soon as the heat coming off them in the summers ridiculous, burns my legs when I'm in traffic

And could a titanium wrap work on a titanium exhaust? Assuming you are using fiberglass wrap
Also what’s the amount of wrap that you needed for the job ?

Thanks man! Just a thought of mine: couldnt i just Grind the inner Part of the Ex up off so the Motor turns a shorter part? And the way is Full Open?

How was the low speed drivability with the exup deleted. Ive read mix reviews about deleting it. Gonna do it to my 04 5vy r1....
Any idea if I just pull out the butter fly that goes into the cat and use disc grinder and cut the whole dual butterfly spindle off completely then just put it all back together...any one do that to eliminate butterfly for better flow
Mate, how did you manage the aftermath of wrapping the exhaust in shorts and t-shirt? 😅 I made the mistake of using the same get up and maaaan I itched for two days 😂
I can't find anyone locally that sells stainless steel in plates would you happen to have the size of the plate you used for reference. ex. (4in x 4in) I might just save some time and have it CNC to the correct size. maybe even precut screw holes.
what lenght of that protective band did you use for your wrap?thanks
If i remember correctly, you're not supposed to wrap titanium. It's not like steel or iron.
On a molecular level you are correct! On a real world example with considerable cooling comparative to an engine bay i, and many others, have had no issues with fatigue related fracturing or welds cracking.. so the wrap vs the theory in my experience leans towards the practicality of wrapping the header 👍

where can I buy the exup connecting cable?
Hi CARLS, i have R1 2006 and one of the cables of the EXUP is damaged, is ok if i remove the cables and let the servo motor there to fool the computer, and let the midlle pipe to on ??? It will make problems or i will have errors??
Yoo hey man! Yeah leave the motor but secure the exup flap open or remove it so as to not let it mess up the back pressure willy nilly.
If the 07/08 setup is the same I can post you the cables from mine if you want 'em 🤙
