Unfortunately Mrs. Saniatan you are missing the point and not addressing the true problem. The driver shpuldnt have been driving at all. His driving record was terrible. New ways to for the government to surveil citizens is not a positive. Please stop advocating for the government to put pressure on all of us and start requesting that prosecutors start enforcing the rule of law when criminals are caught violating.
And the Big winners are the insurance companies!!! Always willing to find a reason to raise your rates

The person driving should be ticketed, not the car and the person insuring the car, (points?). Even if you don't drive, speed or run red lights, you are paying for these services. If you are not sure and stop, you brake and then you get rearended. It's all about revenue. Like on the mainland were the redlight cameras are outlawed, because it causes more accidents and cost the taxpayer (and insurance companies) more money in damages.
This corrupt state is imploding.
How about cracking down on expired safety checks and registrations first? Get those cars off the roads, and maybe improve traffic flow at the same time.
Do the laws apply to the cops too????? See them speeding all over the place. If this thing is going to be run by a privet company, it will only be "for profit", so they will send out tickets to anyone and everyone. Why is it the owner of the vehicle is responsible???? They are not the ones breaking the law. Someone needs to challenge this in court. If the cops are allowed to get away with something like this, they can just charge anyone with anything, even though they had nothing to do with it. Just like arresting people for dui when they have not been drinking.
Now all we need is the sound detectors to pick up the exploding backfiring mufflers or a decent emissions check annually and we're good to go!
LOL Too funny. Anything to take more money out of your pocket and put it in their general fund. The real question is, are they really addressing the real problem? The example given of Yara's mother is bogus because the person would have been speeding no matter what devices were implemented. Please note that the driver in question is not penalized, but the owner of the vehicle. No make sense.
Terrible idea. Never should have had the cams in the first place. Slippery slope.

This is a good law, but everyone drives 5 miles over the speed limit. If the camera can take a good picture of the license plate, how about tagging for safety and registration too? I saw yesterday a vehicle expired tags over 3 years!

The whole reason we’re getting this is because of the haoles. They can’t drive for sh!t. They speed and cut back and forth. Park where they aren’t supposed. Stop on the sides of roads with no stopping. Run red lights, it’s endless…
