Funny to think that Green Lantern flopped, but on the other hand Aquaman becomes the highest grossing DC comic movie (not adjust to inflation), the hero who was for decades the butt of jokes has a billion dollar franchise while green lantern doesn’t have one.

@@brandonlyon730 Well to be fair Green Lantern came out in 2011 and Aquaman came out in 2018 which means they practically had the formula for success and the character did star in a movie before he receive his own movie so It's not fair to compared the two.

@@DHworldwide185 Good point, but it still funny we are in now in a world where the superhero that has been mocked for years is now has the highest grossing DC superhero movies of all time.
Apparently Green Lantern was suppose to be the original gateway movie to DC’s cinematic universe like Ironman was with the MCU, but due to it flopping that was scrapped in favor of Man of Steel being the new one. It would’ve been an interesting what if had the universe stuck around and what other movies would have to fit in it.

I think if they make a Green Lantern game, they should go with the Jedi: Fallen Order route and just make a completely original character specifically for that game. Either that, or just make them a silent protagonist that you, the player make as an avatar. I would prefer the first option immensely as far as storytelling goes, but the player-created option has the benefit of you potentially being able to have your character be a part of the Red Lanterns, or the Violent Lanterns, heck, make them a Black Lantern if you feel like it.
As cool as it would be to be able to play as a White Lantern, I really do think they should just make their own character from the ground up. It removes the whole “Green Lantern should be more powerful than this” problem because you could just say “oh, this particular Lantern isn’t nearly as powerful as John Stewart or Hal Jordan. That’s why you’ve never heard of him until this game!” Just like what they did with Cal Kestis.

First off thanks for doing this one. Next: I have given this a fair bit of thought but I will streamline to not make this comment an essay
The game has to be RPG Style
    1. Willpower = XP
GL’s don’t just start out with god level willpower. It’s cultivated through battle experience and overcoming personal fears so a combination of XP and narrative elements build up willpower over time and that directly affects how strong constructs are (damage, protection, raw strength etc.) so say after you train with Kilowog you get a bunch of XP and your willpower levels up accordingly. Then after facing a man hunter or sinestro in the story it goes up even more
    2. Constructs
The devs should ask in the beginning stages for fan input on what constructs people would make if they were GL’s and create thousands of constructs for the sake of it and classify them by application (Blunt object, sharp, protective, push, pull, blinding effects, whatever comes up). Then offer players the ability to customize load outs from the categories. Over time players can work up to more special constructs like finishers (I have a control scheme for this but that’s for another comment).
    3. Characters get a skill tree so players can make their GLs how they want to play them. Also should have skills like Ring efficiency so players can upgrade how long their rings last before they need a charge. Construct strength- when you hit certain XP/ Willpower levels this can be increased. Flight ability like speed and agility. Focus ability- constructs are stronger because your ability to focus is better and they are easier to create. Stuff like that
    4. It should be a Green Lantern Corps game that allows for us to play as different earth lanterns in the first game and build up their skill trees
    5. Should mostly take place in space
These are just a few ideas. Would be interested to see your thoughts

  • @torontodough2755
    @torontodough2755 3 роки тому +2

There should be a menu/GUI where theres construct creator/generator looking like simplified 3D modeler where you can create the 3D constructs and its type and characteristics (soft, hard, pointy, rough, shield, etc) Then depending on the complexity of the contruct, will power is required (will power will be like stamina in this case which depletes and regens) also button/or key combination can be added as well to cast it. This remain true to character since its limited to his/her imagination and is interpreted by whats included or created in the construct creator.
From development side, the biggest challenge is the construct creator and the types of objects and the actions these objects can. Example would be if the player creates a contruct with type of "weapon" and under weapons there should be subtypes like "melee" or "range", and under "melee" there should be subtypes like damage type "bludgeoning", "slashing", etc, which is called type hierarchy. For actions, it can be a simple as "energy projectile", "summonable energy", "equipabble", etc.

If anyone remembers from the comics. Green Lantern weakens from the color yellow. I would implement yellow obstacles or yellow bad guy aliens to weaken his powers. That can lead him to a sudden death mode where he can die. I would also implement the use of a creative system where pre-game. You draw out his weapons freehand. And either use a rotational system to select weapons, or use a menu to select weapons for a certain button. For instance A is standard move set while B is a Power move. R is a shield which you can't hold indefinitely and it deteriorates over time like in Super Smash Bros because the baddies are yellow. L is a Chain Grab (where you can make chains, lassos, etc to grab baddies). Maybe there can also be a button used for shooting beams at people. Anywho, depending upon what you draw determines the hit value of the lantern ring attack to the baddies. So, perhaps you run into a baddie to battle. Screen shifts to you drawing your choice weapons.(let's say 5 for Standard, Power, Defense, Chain Grab, & Shoot). The Baddies are yellow so you have weakened health and the more of them appear on screen, the weaker your health, so you have to take them out fast and efficiently. The weapons you create in your creative mode can then be stored in a grid selection system after you draw them and can later be used for obstacles or challenges in the game. As you confront new and more challenging yellow Space Creatures you will need to change your creative skills or you won't have the HP to defeat stronger baddies. That's where your creative skills come in to draw new shapes or designs to defeat the yellow bad guys. You have to learn what shapes and designs give you a bigger HP or what combinations of your 5 Lantern Energy Moves (Standrad, Power, Defense, Grab, & Shoot) do the most damage. Kind of think of it as RPG, Battle Royal Style with Puzzles. Maybe there's an HP gage each of the baddies, so you can see if you're taking him out, and he can take you out with Yellow Energy, weakening you. I think in this case an RPG style would work best, but it would be neat to implement a battle royal style, but that could fail with how repetitive it can get if not implemented creatively like Arkham Asylem. Anyway, when you have more powerful objects you drew in your arsenal you'll see the baddies gage decrease faster. I'm kinda thinking like a Sonic Adventure 2 Battle Chao Karate Kinda Gage. BUT! On some case scenarios (to keep you on your toes) the baddies can get energy from a source making it harder to beat them. Perhaps your goal, in some cases, is to keep them away from the source and you can have the choice to implement your block shield infront of it to keep the baddie from devouring it or use your "chain grab" move which restrains the baddie for a temporary time. Well! There you have it! There's a lot of possibilities!

I know I'm super late to this, but as a Green Lantern fan myself, I wanted to give my input. I think a great Green Lantern game would be as you called it, a space cop game. My idea is that it would be a story-based game where you go from planet to planet stopping various villains. Each planet would have it's own small story, each with its own final boss, and the last planet would be a bigger threat, like Parallax, revealing that all the villains from the previous planets did what they did in order to serve Parallax with the hopes of becoming a Yellow Lantern. There wouldn't really be much movement in space, you would just fast travel from planet to planet, and there could be side quests on each planet to make it more open-world. As for combat, there would be a select collection of constructs that you could choose from, from slashers to heavy weapons to projectiles. This would work because the player would be able to customize their moveset to make it more personalized. While people's imaginations are vast, I feel like most ideas would fall into categories, like those slashers and projectiles I mentioned before. If they did it right, it would please fans and likely rebuild the reputation of this amazing hero.

    Simple route:
You are a basic Green Lantern.
You come from a backwoods sector with very limited tech. So your character is dumb as a brick but has great potential.
You train on OA, you at first have basic missions learning mobility skills i.e. flying and learning skills that help with mobility, then you move into combat; learn basic attacks then into melee weapons, once you level up you get access to Constructs.
You limit the player initially by giving them low ring Energy Capacity, as you lvl up you get more capacity (multiple powers draining your ring, greater efficiency (abilities drain less of your ring), and greater willpower (more health and damage).
The goal is to do Bounty Hunt missions where you can take on foes who you defeat much like Megaman style you learn to mimic the weapons and tactics of your opponents: some are combat related others or environmental gating (learn to hack computer systems, learn dead languages to communicate, learn to make Boomtubes to travel great distances to high level sectors).
Green Lantern game would be fairly easy to make but it would require a lot of time and care to make a game that isn't trash. And so far no developer can get that kind of financing to make this unless WB or someone with the IP rights helps facilitate it like Insomniac'a Spider-Man game.

Considering constructions, they could let you build (plan) them ahead or have save point where you do this and categorise them such as
weapon: melee - sword, hammer; ranged - gun, bow
mount: land - car, horse; aquatic - boat, giant fish( why not right?); air - plane, wings, giant celestial dragon
    object: liquid, solid, gas
Everything can be pre-decided for each category ( its speed, damage, weight, size ) and you just have to define and build it with pre-made parts or like block or something

For Green Lantern, I'd think a cross between Outer Worlds, Garry's Mod, and Arkham City would do nicely.
Green Lantern HAS to be a planet hopping game in order to work at all. It just does, especially if it's a solo run. It would be necessary to lock him into a mission-based narrative just to keep the story focused. Regarding constructs, I think it'd be an opportunity to open up to the modding community and allow a workshop option where players can design their own, maybe even share them across the network. The potential there is enormous, but it also enforces a limit to physical objects and their particular functions, so it can have limits while feeling limitless.

    Lantern Corps
    Souls like rpg game
Open world game with multiple bosses and a multi-player function. Collect special abilities from bosses or side quest, or even collect the materials to create your own special powers.
Character creation allows you to choose your beginning Corp (this does not stop you from changing or becoming hybrid but that will effect the type of ending you get)
Green Lantern- your vigor and endurance are at its best, giving you the will to fight on.
Red Lantern- your resistance and strength are beastly, allowing you to destroy foes with ease.
Yellow Lantern- your mind and attunement are immense, leaving no power unknown.
Orange Lantern- your endurance and attunement are unbound, granting quick stealing.
Pink Lantern- your mind and health are large, allowing you to support others.
Blue Lantern- your stats are equal but creates an even playing field.
    Two main endings:
White Lantern- to save the universe from collapsing on itself from the great Lantern war, become the white Lantern to settle the war and save the universe under a great council.
Black Lantern- become the black Lantern to consume the universe and rule with an iron fist, creating the power to enter other universes.

An idea for a green lantern game:
You can create an object in a sort of 3D maker in the game created by the developer. But there is a limit on the amount of objects you can have at a time, so you can only use a certain amount of objects you made for combat. Plus there is a limit explained by limited will power on the lantern so you can’t really just make a mountain for example. So maybe (not a green lantern person so sorry if it can’t) your ring becomes damaged and as you heal it up you can more object slots. I’m sure you can find some other plot point if that doesn’t work.

The issue is this is still limiting due to model limitations and what attributes your allowed to give it. It's better then the pre created limited constructs don't get me wrong but the only ture way to get pure personalized constructs is by diving into the code itself. And most players don't wanna go through that just to be able to fire a single attack

Let the player make their desired constructs in a sort of 'meditation' mode , where they expend -skill points- will power making them.
The constructs can have certain parameters defining them, like surface area , volume, thickness, density, power input(as willpower)/output etc.
The parameters and hence the constructs will be restricted by the player's willpower , and players will be forced to increase/decrease certain parameters to get out of situations.

I believe a good way to go about this is to (think about a xbox/ps controller) make the buttons that are not letters/symbols the arrows, into weapons. Like think melee, ranged, defensive something like that. You unlock weapons as you go and you get to pick what weapon you want to assign to that button. For example, I want my melee weapon to be my sword so I assign it to my melee button. There can also be opportunities where it almost becomes a puzzle game basically Scribblenauts but without that kind of style. It gives the player the imagination without giving it too much space. For the story, I think it would be cool to have him sort of go place to place on missions. Maybe like 1 mission per planet and have a set of planets.

    My idea:
Drawn to life but, there is a single ring power bar in the customization menu(not related to the in game bar). You can create the shape and size of your attack but it is limited by the customization ring bar(CRB). You can also adjust the animation(as in how it comes out of the ring) and the direction of impact. You can also choose whether it is a melee weapon(lets you create swords like the rebellion or yamato), projectile(make it tiny as pea or big as a plane), laser(star wars), shield(so the are covered by the green or whatever colour serves as a barrier) or grab(you create the shape of the noose, it can be a hand or a rope). Then you decide the damage, so a good way to even out the damage calculation, the melee does a base 50 attack, laser and projectile does a base 70 attack(but has a chance of missing the target depending on its size) but you can increase the damage value by using the remaining CRB( example; a small pea size projectile takes only a little CRB there for the remaining CRB can be invested in damage, so it can go from a base of 70 to lets say 150 but there is a high risk of missing the target cause area of coverage is small. There is also a level limit that prevents users form making a bullet with 180 attack at low experience even if they have enough CRB. The player gains experience and levels up, the size of the CRB also increases with it and the player also unlocks the ability to craft bullets with 250 hit damage but gradually) as for the shield it works pretty much on same principle for the area covered but the base defence is 50 and you can use the same CRB(if you have not invested all in attack) to increase the defence to a 100 or more as the character levels up. Now for the grab, after you decide the shape you decide the strength, number(upto 5,consumes CRB) , duration and length weaker thugs can be held down at base values but for villains like Idk Darkside you have to make it stronger by investing from CRB, you also get to pick the duration of the hold by investing CRB, you can hold the enemy and deal damage by taking off with them and hitting them against the buildings or slamming them on to the ground. You can have 2 slots at the start of the game and as you level up the slots increase up to a 10 and you can assign left and right to circle back and forth between the powers on the basis of how often you use them and to make things interesting you can use the Left trigger to select any random power that is not currently in use from the wepons wheel and the right trigger can bring forth any one of the powers you created out of 1000 from the custom menu. Initially the player will have a hard time effectively managing the CRB and barely doing enough damage but as the level increases and the player becomes lets say becomes one with the ring by using it more the CRB increases and you become too powerful but new stronger enemies show up who would do clever tactics to avoid your attack or bypass your guard(like teleport to an area where the shield is weak and shoot a laser). The game should come with a few powers that the developers themselves have customized so that it will encourage the players to experiment with the CRB and use their imagination to create attacks better than what the developers intended, there should also be a online community where you can upload your custom designs and it can be used by busy people who don't have the time to experiment. Over the course you should preferably gain new rings or new characters and they come with unique powers preferably not customizable, their purpose is just to demonstrate the possibilities the player has.......I guess thats about all btw thanks for taking the time to read this :) Oh another thing I forgot to mention was a cool down timer for the projectiles about 5 sec or so just to make sure the player doesn't spam it but they can decrease the delay by investing from CRB basically the player has to be really creative in making attacks(You can have an ultra 1 hit KO projectile attack but at cost of decreased cool down, increased accuracy) ....its sorta relates to the idea of the superhero I guess...you know making do with what you got by using imagination, getting creative....it would make us one with the hero......Well yea thats all....Please let me know of you liked it and if you dislike it feel free to point out the cons :)

I limited the Scribblenauts/lego game type of ordeal
You can make your own constructions like you can make characters in Scribblenauts, where it has stamp level and stuff like that and how you can add things on it from different objects. But like lego, you're limited to what things they can do.
And to balance it out a bit more you have a batter output, so the more things your construction can do the more battery power you need to use it.
You can hold a max of 6 constructions you've made, kinda like Pokemon to where you can catch as much as you want but only have 6 in one team.
And the combat could be like a mixture of Batman Arkham with the counters but fluidness of spiderman.
What I mean by that is you can move as much as you want pretty fast but strategically like Batman
Maybe you can have it to where you have different fights like web of shadows (Floor, sky, and walls) and it interchanges pretty often
Free roam can be lil fallen order where you go to different planets but instead of it being a level it's a whole thing like dragon ball z kakarot
And you have side missions, challenges, races, and main story and they give you are a certain amount of XP, and maybe that plays into go construction make to where you spend XP to make them stronger and to buy more objects to customize them

I think he should use the ring as much as possible. Like he could make a shield, a sword, a spear, an axe, a hammer, a massive gauntlet, a rope to throw them around, guns (mainly automatic), or even bombs! So I think they should add a lot (and I mean a lot) of options to combat.

Green lanterns will need certain standard powers. The lantern armor, flight, etc. I'm not enough of a GL fan to know everything like this. But THEN you need to have the player creativity be involved. For this I recommend a weapon/gizmo builder. Yup. Separate from the game you have a "lab" to design your GL toys between missions. You have different types of pixels: Deflection, Damage, Reach, Remote control, shooting, etc. You give the GL stats that say how many of these pixels can be used in a given construct. You can also have stats for how many constructs can be memorized at once,, for how powerful each pixel might be and maybe a cost reduction sort of thing. Each construct would need to use up some ring power. And the power needed, obviously, based on the pixels in the construct. This would all be a LOT easier in 2D. But that's something the devs would have to wrestle with. Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts" did this well, even if the game, over all, had issues.

I would be thinking that the best take on a Green lantern game would be one about Hal being recruited as a green lantern covering the story in cinematics. Then the game would deliver the basic controls while training Hal to become a lantern. Maybe the basic abilities would be flight to move from place to place and during specific missions: shield, energy push for close combat, gun for long range attack with limited energy as the ring discharges or something. Then the levels would build by taking Hal into missions at different planets while unlocking more ring weapons and secret button combinations for things like a tech armour with highly discharges the ring, missiles, grabbing enemies with the rig, etc. And it all starts leaving clues for Hal to figure out that Sinestro is doing the yellow lantern ring which would lead to a final showdown where instead of ring energy now it’s actual damage that Hal takes as he fights with Sinestro so that you could use all the abilities of the game with no restriction. And on the shorter missions it would be something like having to fight enemy aliens as you collect power ups for the ring so that you can fight at the end with an alien boss while in some cases you are accompanied with other lanterns and in other missions you are by your own. Some missions could be more of using what you already have to figure out creative solutions to defeating enemies rather than just a direct combat.

It should be like an RPG, where you start as a newbie and go on quests to different planets or sectors, have combos that have different constructs in them, and you unlock skills based on how you want to play, free roam and everything

The green lantern movie really did do a lot more damage than a lot of people know. Around the time that the movie came out, I don’t know if anyone remembers but Cartoon Network actually premiered an animated series that was completely unconnected to the movie called Green Lantern: The animated series. It was phenomenal, the series went deep into the lore of the emotional spectrum minus a few. The red lanterns felt like a real threat and then also the anti-monitor in the second season. It only ran for 1 season but only bc of the damn movie. The show had to survive on toy sales like the majority of animated shows do but after the complete tanking of the movie at the box office, stores saw any sort of green lantern merchandise as financial poison. This along with the fact that the CG animation while looking sleek and dynamic was not cheap. Hopefully it being on DC universe’s streaming app will hopefully mean it gets picked up again much like Young justice did.

One way i think i can be done is if you limit not the players powers but the character themselves. Green Lanterns constructs are based on their personality and understanding. Fighter jets, guns, etc... so allowing the player to decide from a list of preset backgrounds and personality traits for their lantern character can then unlock branches of available constructs. Mixing and matching to give that customization feeling.

Easy, you make it a beat'em up spectacle fighter and then add whatever extra outside of combat mechanics you want, you have your light, heavy, ranged, grapple, whatever, attack buttons-
And every time you press them, they spawn a random, pre-created and animated weapon/attack, and you pretty much just do combos and watch as you press the ranged button and your character randomly throws out a train at someone's face-
You might not be able to do whatever the player can think of, but you damn sure can do whatever the character and devs can think of-
And of course, whether or not it comes out good comes down to the typical three things: effort, time, and money-
You could have just basic attacks for every button input, and just feel like you're playing a generic beat'em up, or you could have a handful of buttons that summon something new every time you press them and make it feel like you're actually experiencing the chaotic power that a green lantern possesses-
Make it a spectacle fighter of the highest caliber with adventure, mystery and free roaming in between the fights, it'll sell itself as long as you make the story good and put in effort-

TL;DW: Because the reason why people want to play a Green Lantern game is the ability to create anything to bash enemies up with, the ways to build such a game have not been thought up yet. Scribblenauts is probably the closest, but that won't work for the superhero. My suggestion would be to make a system reminiscent of Zelda Breath of the Wild, where the game lets you attack situations in any way you want, with heaps and heaps of different powers you can unlock and combine together. That would be fun probably

I'd like to play as a brand new green lantern. Have the first level be powerless, then have you find the ring and get a limited power limited by a "willpower meter" as the story goes on your willpower grows and you learn more abilities. For the final boss battle you have a scene where you realize your full abilities and lose the power meter allowing you all of your abilities.

Instead of playing as one of the established Earth lanterns, why not an original character who’s newly recruited? Hal, John, Kyle etc can still appear in the story but you play as someone new to the Corps and the franchise. It explores an alien race and the tutorial could be Kilowog doing a training drill. To add some interactivity your backstory can be adjusted across the game by decisions you make regarding memories recalled or actions taken at certain points, make the character your own. This can inform the kind of constructs you can ustilise. The ring charge can be a consistent ticking clock element, meaning you have to find somewhere you can summon your power battery to recharge before you hit 0%. Maybe as the charge goes down certain features can be used less and less, like the universal translator aspect gets less reliable or you can’t fly so fast.
The whole backstory thing could be used for different endings, encouraging further play throughs to where and how you influence it, and difficulty modes could be tied into the ring charge, with Critical Mode only having a max charge of 24 minutes of play time, referencing how the rings used to run on 24 hour charges. Saving can be done by charging with the power battery, kind of like reporting in your progress.

I think the best way to do a green lantern game is to make is to make a hybrid platformer open world, where you follow a story that involves out main character but the film power of the green lantern is treated like the force. So that with every mission or everytime you level up, up your will power increases. The constructs, can be the physical powers, given each player the ability to play as they see fit. Idk if you played Jedi Outcast: Jedi Knight 2, but basically like that kind of power design and skill progression. Let's say on the 1st mission as a green lantern your constructs are giant fist, throw, mini gun, and shield, every time you use one, your will power will go down but when your not using it, it gradually returns. So let's say at the beginning your max will power is like 100 but by the in of the game your will power is 1000, and you have more constructs like multi throw, mech suit, fighter jet, extra fighters, bubble shield, energy beam, energy slam etc.

Use the spore/sandbox builder method for the constructs. This would allow any player to make constructs that allow players to use their imagination to solve in game problems. Players would be able to save their constructs to variable names and be able to select them at any time. This would allow for creative problem solving and the actual power of imagination to shine through. I suppose a lot of emphasis would be placed into problem solving. Like for example say there were a random event where a civilian were trapped under rubble. Players could either make a Crane to move it, create a jack to lift it. An exosuit to lift it. Stuff like that. Granted the physics of the game would have to be “off the charts”. But this is just an idea. Maybe someone can turn it into cohesive thought.

when people think about Green Lantern games, they think "why cant I do this thing I thought of?" but that's the thing, if you're playing a canonical green lantern, you're not the one that would have to think of it, the character would, after all, Guy Gardner's weapons are mostly sports equipment, you wouldnt expect him to draw an axe from his ring and hack enemies up, you'd expect him to draw a baseball bat and go for a home run, he wouldnt just bubble up for defense, he'd make a football padding armor set, he's not the sharpest tool in the shed, he's not the biggest thinker, but he can get the job done, but you wouldnt expect him to try to collapse a rockslide onto his opponents intentionally, basically, it'd play like a sly game, each lantern has a personality of their own, each with unique equipment and skills that let them complete their own missions in their own way, some missions could be completed by any lantern with multiple methods by which to complete it, allowing for different lanterns to go through different ways,
Perhaps you could even give the player the ability to play other lantern cores, giving access to extra unique characters like Dextar who can do things like hide out for spy missions or access tiny tunnels that the normal players cant reach,

A good way to make a green lantern game that captures the over the top abilities the lanterns have is to make it the type of game where you mow down waves of enemies with massive attacks, and possibly making it multiplayer, with each player being able to be a member of a different corps with different specialties (eg. blue lanterns are support, red lanterns are straight DPS)

For a cool Superman game concept you could have a mid 20s Superman who’s still pretty naive and desiring to know more about his identity and who he was before earth. Zod could come to earth and tell Clark all about his home world Krypton and how he, with the help of Clark, can bring it back. But as Clark/Cal continues the veil begins to fall from his eyes and he sees what Zod is really up to and ultimately defeats him, shattering the last piece of his kryptonian identity.

I think for Green Lantern, a game for him would be a sandbox like Minecraft.
We've seen a lot of mods for the Minecraft that adds so many things and still works.
Maybe willpower will be like an energy bar, you can use it to create various constructs the game provides, each doing different things, kinda like crafting in Minecraft, then some of the items can be put in a hotbar to make switching more convenient.
Being a sandbox game, maybe somehow it can connect player input into the creating of constructs, so each player can use their imagination to make unique constructs somehow.
Also maybe even make it like KOTOR where your actions can effect your alignment, maybe if you do one thing you get a different ring or something

Maybe for a Green Lantern game, have a section where you can build your own weapon. Like if you want to build a weapon for a battle, you can go into that section and build your custom weapon. As well as have already made weapons to use. So that there is less of a limitation to the imagination to the wielder/player.

I could see a Green Lantern game in a Prototype game style. In Prototype 1 & 2, you play as a superhuman only limited by his powerful mutations. You kill enemies to get biomass, which can be spent on passive buffs, active abilities, and mutation abilities. The weapons are things like a giant extendable whip-like arm blade, a giant greatsword-like blade, oversized heavy fists, and claws to name a few. The game is largely story driven, but in an open world with many side goals in free roam. Here's how I'd implement it into a Green Lantern style, granted that my knowledge on the extent of the power is very limited:
You start out as a blank slate, maybe it's you're first time with the ring. Most likely you have an experience system, but you'd have specific locations that need a specific ability, or just give you inspiration for a new power. Just like in Prototype, you'd have several categories of abilities: weapon constructs, utility constructs, and passive/upgrade constructs. Weapon constructs seem self explanatory, until you factor in ranged weaponry. For this I'd add a "willpower" resource: for melee, it supercharges your weapon, maybe perfect deflection with a longsword type, an explosion effect to blunt weapons, things like that. For ranged, it simply serves as ammo. Willpower regenerates when depleted, but does so slowly if you are moving and/or in combat. For utility, this depends on what Green Lantern is doing in the game. Maybe you need to unlock something, so you need to use a key-forming utility. This would also be in the flight category, but you'd likely unlock that at the begining/ Upgrades would be your standard health increase and other general improvements category. To keep things interesting, I'd create two or three solutions to some, if not all problems in and out of the story. Something like finding a locked door, where you could form a key, cut a hole through the door with a laser, or break through the wall next to it with a heavy blunt construct.
For space travel, I'd use a zone system. Each planet has several zones to travel to, but you need to go to space first. Space serves mostly as a connection zone, but you can free roam. I'd probably have it set up like this: Planetary zones connect to local space, which connects to deep space. Local space can send you to it's respective planet's zones or to deep space. From deep space, you can travel to the local space of all planets/space stations. The next factor is world size. If you want a free roam area, you'd nee to either limit the amount of planets (excluding hypothetical DLC), or make it more something like Warframe, with one big free roam and several smaller mission nodes. One implementation I could see done is having planets use mostly cities and bases with one free roam per world, and space stations, if included, are linked spaces. The stations could use hangar bays for local space fast travel, and elevators for ground fast travel. They'd be mostly small locations, with some bigger medium locations.
Combat would be a dynamic system. On the ground, it works just like every other game with mixed melee/ranged combat. If you fly around, ground units will seek out ranged weapons (turrets, gun lockers, maybe even improvised ranged weapons. If you use a shield, they'll try to destroy it or outsmart you (if they're not stupid, that is). The point would be to prevent you from going, "Hey, I like this weapon and/or ability. I don't even need my other constructs!"
Well, that's my pitch for the main elements of a Green Lantern game. If you got this far, thanks for reading!

For gameplay/combat I’m thinking of an approach similar to Xenoverse 2 (though I don’t love that game) where you create your own character and at the end of the character creation you choose a main coach based off of the earth lanterns. Choosing a certain coach will award you specific constructs you can make at the start of the game, these starting constructs will probably be 2 or 3 of the type of constructs that Lantern is known for. After that the leveling system will play almost like D&D where you can choose to either increase the power of an existing construct or learn a new construct from one of the various other renowned lanterns you’ll meet on your journey.
Doing this puts limits on the PC while making sure it’s logical as a rookie Lantern might not have the most creative or inventive uses for a ring.
The game can play out like an RPG similar to Assassin’s Creed: Origins, in that game you played as essentially a Egyptian Sheriff so you had many side missions of helping civilians, in this case it’d be on a cosmic scale, but the character also has a very personal story going to server as the main campaign.
EDIT: or you can make story more open like AC: Oddessy where you can choose to do good or bad things and the culmination of the major decisions you make might have you change lantern corps at the beginning and you can have all Lantern Corps possible to end up in.

Possibly it would be an rpg or something of the sorts where you could have up to 5-6 planets like fallen order, yet traversal would be manual like you fly to them. You start out with a few basic long range and melee weapons(swords, bows, guns etc.) and shield abilities. Maybe you would work your way up the ranks of the glc and progressively get more interesting weapons,( miniguns, rpg, comically large hammers) and it almost works in a shadow of war esque way where you have to work to take back a run down sector with huge battles against corrupt world rulers.possibly some detective work and side missions with other dc villains and catching them and some light exploring. Something else I thought would be badass is being able to pick which lantern Corp you could be in (with an exception of life and death). I would love to see the combat of a rage lantern to the degree of an Arkham game. This vid came out so long ago but idc I thought my ideas was kinda cool lmao.

the way i always imagined an ideal green lantern game would be that there's sorta like a built-in 3d modelling software, extremely basic and without stuff like textures, but something like that, combined with maybe some kind of community content option where you can use constructs uploaded by other people, sorta like something from robocraft or besiege
the issue with this obviously being that a whole 3d engine would be mega hard to make, as well as the inevitable insurgence of people who would just use it to make inappropriate constructs
its definitely not a perfect solution, but i think its probably the best that we're gonna get for this kinda concept lol
