You are loved, that’s a piece of this complex perfection, this music we’re all drawn too. I hear in the peace a yearning, a burning realization of how tragic life can be, all the sharp pain of the heart, the dreams, the dashed plans, all handed over to the light. To a searing light of return. Or redemption, of timelessness. The searing perfection, its bright heat replacing all that we think is broken, all that is I fact just separated from this deeper source. At 47, I’m now returning to love as the cure for fear, the cure for anger, the cure for isolation. I hear that and more in this music. God it’s perfect.
Ron, I' could not agree with you more. I just watched this movie again I've seen it many times), and I wish there were more made like it. The ending was truly a masterpiece. The melody played during it has always stuck with me, so I just looked it up. To my surprise, it is a Vivaldi work; last few years, I have become quite a fan of his. Many kudos to those that put this movie together.
This vintage Russian (who else with a choir like that!!!) recording from Melodiya was remixed with electronic music c effects. Try and listen to the Negri version on Philips CD as the original 18th century score has a power and driving force all of its own. Having said that this music adds to the spell binding close of the film which I believe wowed the judges at the Cannes Film Festival. Thanks for uploading. The other great Railroad movie is Emperorr of the North with Lee Marvin and Ernest Borgnine.
a masterpiece of runaway movie, while the stakes wherent that high, its impactful, that at its most the ending... ... ... they really dont make em like they used to....
This film is from 1985. If you listen to some of Jones' music from Angel Heart (1987) and Mississippi Burning (1988) there is a very similar vibe ...with or without saxophone/vocal .... it's gorgeous, moody, ambient, tragic ..... If anyone can describe these pieces more eloquently than me then I would be happy to read them 🙂
Like some indelible stamp, this music is imprinted in my brain....as is the final scene in this incredible film, Vought's best.. it's about freedom bought at a terrible price; but freedom nonetheless. Vought lost out to William Hurt for Best Actor Oscar.....nothing against Hurt but the Oscar was Vought's, plain and simple. Great line: The 'little bitty spot' monologue........Manny to Buck: " You listening to me!! Pay attention to what I'm sayin' m......f......!!"
I thought you was my friend! I thought we was partners. Shiet, you know, you're worse than Rankin when the truth comes out. At least he's up front with his bulls**t. You was a hero! You was a hero to all of us.
In the end, Manny has a second thought about the two "couple" in the second locomotive, he manages to uncouple the first locomotive from the rest of the train, whilst his "Partner" screams and shouts, (MANNY!! SHUT IT DOWN!! THATS ALL YOU GOTTA DO!! MANNY!!) But Manny, having been in prison for a long time, doesn't wish to go back, and if the police wont let him be free, then he will die to earn his freedom, while taking the Warden of Stonehaven with him. The ending is very ironic in my view, this movie is an older version of the 2010 movie "Unstoppable", but as many have seen the movie I'm sure, its a "closed ending" movie, with the train in this case 777 and 767, Dash-9`s being stopped by the SD40-2 1206, and thus having a happy ending, whilst this blast from the past is a "open ending" with Manny, the GP38-2 and the Warden of Stonehaven Maximum Security Prison, speeding into the snow and fog, you hear nothing apart from the ambient music, but inside you KNOW that the train derailed, killing all three in the process. After watching this movie the whole way through, this movie treats the train like an animal, which if you didnt notice is exactly what the 2010 Unstoppable movie did, But after seeing its dramatic, sad, quite, and rather quick ending, it makes me believe that the train GP38-2 is still there, as if it was a real incident. When you think about it, the locomotive, and 2 men, would`ve been preserved by the cold conditions, making it merely a creepy as well as logical movie. In all a great movie, I dont understand why the movie is so underrated nowadays but never-the-nun-the-less it is still a great movie, and one to remember for all time! "No man too fierce, but knows a touch of pity and therefore am no beast" Richard III - William Shakespeare.
@@robertchapman2174 I'm glad you brought up this question as if you have watched the movie which I am not denying, the 3rd person is in fact a women named "Sara" she was a engineer on the train before it was a part in this movie, she was taking a nap when the train slammed through the caboose of Eastbound 12 or 1605, together they all attempt to slow down the train enough for Manny and Buck to get off the train and go on foot. By doing this they needed to bust the electrical cables between the locomotives in order for them to be shut down one at a time, all goes well until they arrive at the second locomotive, in this case it is a F7A streamliner the same one featured in "SilverStreaker". If in this movie you are referring to the Warden AKA Rankin, he boards the train right near the end, both Manny and Rankin die in the end, whilst saving Buck and Sara in the process. Thank-you for asking this question, Have a good day.

So pain is something we live within our veins ......win or loose .....what is the difference?
When Jon Voight character says that line it breaks my heart till this day
as a furry, i know the pain of being hated, and yet, this movie shows that everyone struggles with life from time to time. it is a great movie t ease my constant sadness towards life
You are loved, that’s a piece of this complex perfection, this music we’re all drawn too.
“No beast so fierce but knows some touch of pity, but I know none, therefore am no beast.” -King Richard III, William Shakespeare (1564-1616).
One of the best movie ending scores of all time, up there with Collateral (2004) and District 9 (2009).
:'(... goodbye Manny

One must count on oneself.
Omg!😢 this is beautiful!
Great movie
3:43 this part is very sad sounding not gonna lie
a masterpiece of runaway movie, while the stakes wherent that high, its impactful, that at its most the ending...

...
they really dont make em like they used to....
This film is from 1985. If you listen to some of Jones' music from Angel Heart (1987) and Mississippi Burning (1988) there is a very similar vibe ...with or without saxophone/vocal .... it's gorgeous, moody, ambient, tragic ..... If anyone can describe these pieces more eloquently than me then I would be happy to read them 🙂
amazing thats oll . Amazing,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AMAZING.
I wish this sound track was on Apple Music
Travis Powell I know right ! it’s not available anywhere 😐
@@michaelprice6776 Have you checked Amazon?
hell yes, i would love it on Apple music
Just download it off here
Na minha opinião,a melhor atuação de John Voight, o filme é um épico inesquecível,único, incomparável.A trilha sonora é igualmente insuperável
Jon *Voight not Vought.
The drama!
Super movie!!! Super J Voight !!! Super Eric Roberts
They don’t make movies like this anymore
a masterpiece beautyfull
When tulip mania dies down, all that remains are pretty flowers.
what are you referring to?
I like to think manny jumped at last minute and got away and lived a long life in the mountains
I would like to think so too, but I also think he went out with peace, on his own accord.
"No man too fierce, but knows a touch of pity and therefore am no beast"
Richard III - William Shakespeare.
where'd you get a third person? i thought there were two in that GP35/GP40-2
@@Viper-CT she shouldn't have been sleeping, if so, she should have been doing it in the front lol therefore she can hit the emergency stop button and shut it down for good.
@@robertchapman2174 Agreed, but in this movie, as the original writer made it, he made it so that she was sitting in the second locomotive, I suggest watching the movie for yourself, I found a free version on UA-cam itself free for public use, only downside, there are nagging subtitles in Arabic.

Best movie of course it's not so popular WHY IS THAT!!
Mabey because it’s a low budget movie with only one famous actor but, but it still should be pretty famous like the movie duel cuz it’s not the actors that matters it’s (actually the story) then the actors, but story first.
Just watched this great movie over on Odysee.

It’s Vivaldi “Et in terra pax” ..Trevor jones made some arrangements
madmoiselle007 hi, and sorry fore the late reply I didn’t saw you until I come back here just now, anyway ya I thought it was Vivaldi something but, it sed on the end credits it was called Gloria, so wired anyway thanks fore answering.
I dunno. Possibly Manny climbed on top of the engine for a chance of being thrown free and surviving. 🤔
