For twice the price of a replacement visor you can get a set of goggles with 2-4 times the clarity and probably 10% of the distortion and almost none of the reflection you get off the inside of your shield. Also, the off road world appears to know that gray (smoked) is a horrible color for seeing details in shadows. Some of us live in warm climates where that extra airflow is greatly appreciated - advantage goggles. Pissed off bee or hornet - advantage shield. Thanks for your work, I'm a bit of a fan.
Yes, me too. I was just literally choosing between visor and goggles and thanks to this video I will go with the visor. Thank you to this video, cheers.
Gooooogles are great off-road riding behind another motorcycle, but the goooogles are more a problem in any other situation. Goooogles is a great accessory, good gooogles! Love the goooogles! Get the goooogles!!! Googles
Very informative. I'm buying the one with visor but will ensure that I can attach a goggles to it in d future for some offroad trips. Thanks a bunch! Ride safe Sir!
So a big part of this vid is the fogging up. IF you do any riding offroad (I do both), once you hit trails and you start really working the bike and the track, you will sweat and fog up the visor. This is very annoying. Goggles dont fog up and with an open helmet you get much better cooling and airflow. Thats the difference.
I ride with a dual-sport helmet (without a visor) and with protector glasses from Tamrex.ee safety center. I have ones with clear lens and others are tinted for a sunny day. I so love this setup for a city riding. Highway riding is a different story ofc.
Excellent video again. You just reminded me why I stopped using googles years ago. Peripheral vision. In the late 1980's when I first started riding, I used to have a 3/4 Bell 500 helmet and goggles. Then I switched over to a visor and have used it ever since. Nowadays I have become very interested in riding offroad and was thinking about getting a dual sport helmet with a pair of goggles but I think I'll stay with the helmet and visor instead.
Good points but the main focus point of our peripheral vision is only on the center. Everything else will still be blurred and unnoticed. The goggles will reduce peripheral but only like 5%. Not really 20.
MX goggles are the only way to keep fine dust/sand out of your eyes, when riding in such environments. Shields won't. Glasses won't either (even the kind with gaskets around your eyes) This is why dirt riders wear MX goggles exclusively and dirt helmets are designed around them. Airflow is nice, sure, but dust is the main reason. For any other purpose, I agree that they aren't ideal. Even off-road, I don't use MX goggles if I don't need them (trail riding alone in the boonies, damp ground, etc). In those cases I use safety glasses instead. IMO, when using a shield, it's a *very* good idea to wear glasses inside your helmet (if you don't wear prescription glasses, get safety glasses). This way you always have eye protection regardless of whether you're using the shield and/or sun shade. "Flying Eyes" are the best I've found, I can wear them all day without any hot-spots or headaches. If you are going to use goggles, I highly recommend Quick Straps. They're about $20 and make goggles WAY more convenient. Just make sure your helmet's shell is compatible with the mounting pads; my LS2 Adventure, for instance, is not.
It depends on what goggles, yours have very small angle I see but you can get a wide angle goggles. But anyhow they not suitable for cold weather, but I live in Laos so it's not a problem for me 😁
I just rode for the first time with goggles (street) and was curious why people wear it. It was not a better experience. I'll try it off road next time, but back to visor on the street. Thanks for the confirmation.
New driver here ..just picked up my first snowmobile. I love it, but I'm indecisive about this exact question ..which do you think would be more ideal for out in the trails during winter weather?
Hi, thanks for all the information! I'm looking for a helmet with the possibility to use both, what kinda model is this one? (link doesn't seem to work)
I am happy that kept me from allowing our 13 year old daughter to get a cross helmet with goggles. Yes, she looked cool with it. But sitting behind her dad or me, it would have been more boring (and dangerous) for her, because she could see less. Myself, I am a happy visor user. Due to me wearing glasses, using goggles is a bit difficult anyways. Always have to pay attention to not drop them.
hello i ride a long time with googles off and on road but when its raining its realy wrong my face have an a million bullets hihihi from the rain and im agree with you for the off road ride so better with them

googles
I stopped watching your video at 2:00 minutes cos that is all the information I need to NOT ride with goggles on the street. Thank you good sir.
good info. Was thinking about getting a goggle for the streets, I guess not anymore. thanks for making the video!
Don't, it is dangerous!
conceptcs goggles block yours side vision for sure.
Yes, me too. I was just literally choosing between visor and goggles and thanks to this video I will go with the visor. Thank you to this video, cheers.
Great info i was looking for! Thanks 🙏
Glad it was helpful!
No need to choose. Both are ok, depending the weather and place that you are riding.
Great big clock background sound at the end of the video!
Like your dedication in the video to make people understand with all the views and chart drawings.. happy riding
Excellent video - that is exactly what I found when trying goggles.. better ventilation but more restricted vision
Thank you very much for watching! Ride safe!
You make a great point.
More people should hear this.
Thank you!
Excellent comparison! Many thanks, friend.
Glad it was helpful!
One of the most sensible and informative videos I've found to date. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
This video provides amazing advice for picking goggles vs a visor. Thank you very much.
Glad it was helpful!
Good point about the goggles...I use them a lot in the summer but they definitely restrict your peripheral vision . Steve
"Peripheral vision" this is the phrase I was looking for. Sorry for my English!

Very informative. I'm buying the one with visor but will ensure that I can attach a goggles to it in d future for some offroad trips. Thanks a bunch! Ride safe Sir!

This setup works well for me up to about 80kmh. So it's ideal for street riding what I do the most.

I think that is is 20%, but even 5% are enough to miss a car and have an accident. Don't you think?
I have pinlock goggles, and i want to keep thewind /ventillation out of the goggles, how does one do that?

Understand.
Very good explanation. Thank you
Any time!
Good points. Also, I believe if you want to vlog and set a mic inside the mx helmet, there will be a lot of wind coming in vs the dual sport.
True!
This video is very helpful to me....thank you for telling the differences
You are welcome anytime!
I just rode for the first time with goggles (street) and was curious why people wear it. It was not a better experience. I'll try it off road next time, but back to visor on the street. Thanks for the confirmation.

I prefer goggles 1 million%!
I never liked visors because the distance from my face makes it difficult to see things sometimes
Ok
