For those of you who may not know, Pets Plus is located in Minnesota and so is Nutrisource! Nutrisource is made here in Northern Minnesota about two hours from us.
My staff and I actually have had the chance to tour the plant and it was exciting to see some of our favorite pet foods get made! The most impressive part about the entire tour was how clean they kept their facility.
You can tell a lot about a company by how clean they keep their operation. I have no doubt in my mind that you could safely eat off their floor, and that says a LOT about their pet food.
Since 1964, KLN (Originally Tuffy’s Pet Foods), the parent company of Nutrisource has been apart of the local communities using locally grown products whenever possible to make some of the best pet food you can find.
They have three facilities, two in Perham that make kibble and treats as well as one in Delano, Minnesota that produces treats. Nutrisource is also adding a wet food facility that should be starting in 2022.
Nutrisource is hands-on with so much of what they make, keeping it all made in their facilities as much as they can. This helps Nutrisource maintain tight quality control over every single bag of their food.
A big part of Nutrisource’s reputation comes from their stringent testing process. As pet parents, we all want what is best for our fur babies from when they’re puppies all the way to adulthood.
Nutrisource is a pet food company that seems to FULLY understand the importance of this, and they continue to show dedication when it comes to producing pet products with long term health benefits.
Now that you know a little bit about the company itself, lets talk about their product lines and what makes them special!
First up is the flagship line of Nutrisource, which is their self titled line “Nutrisource”!
Nutrisource is made for both dogs and cats and encompasses over 35 dry recipes both with grain in and grain out as well as many treats and cans. I love that they just about a kibble for everything!
They have unique recipes for puppies, all life stages, large breeds, senior, weight management, and performance foods for those super active dog that need a bit more protein and fat!
Obviously this can be a bit overwhelming, especially if you’re new to pet ownership or if you’re trying to find a new diet for your pup. If you aren’t quite sure what your dog might like, please comment below or stop in to our store! We’ve got 30 years of experience helping pet owners and we would love to help you as well.
Not a single one of these formulas will have corn, wheat, soy, by-products, artificial coloring, or animal by-products. Each formula will also have a focus towards gut health, stool smell, skin and coat as well as brain function which Nutrisource calls their Good4Life system.
I often mention to customers that it’s the details that take a food from a good food to a great food and Nutrisource hits that detail out of the park. There is honestly so much variety, your dog can rotate between so many proteins from beef and chicken to quail and trout.
Nutrisource cans feed super well and are a great addition to your pets diet as well! They often mimic their bagged formulas but also add some extra flavor too. Nutrisource chicken & rice and lamb & rice are our two most popular cans BY FAR.
While we could talk all day about their foods, Nutrisource also has amazing treats! For years their soft treats have been a must for new dog owners or even the old dogs we try to teach new tricks. My dogs go nuts for these and they’re low calorie and soft. From puppies to even old dogs, it’s a reward for everyone involved!
Nutrisource also has quite a variety of cat food, and we’ve actually got a second video that will come out soon that goes into greater detail on it. Believe me when I say that it’s one of our top selling cat foods in the store for good reason.

The Large Breed Puppy has made quite the difference in our German Shepherd pup, he was on Diamond Naturals, getting progressively itchier and pooping EVERYWHERE all the time. NutriSource has dialed all that down, and he just seems... Like a happier pup, excellent food
I tried the sample bag at my local mom and pop Pet Shop and I was very, very impressed with the product. Including my little buddy 😊

I have been feeding Nutrisource to my dogs since 2007. Never had any issues. Our Boxer is now 13 1/2, which is good for that breed.

Great video! I am thinking of switching to nutrisource adult dog or adult dog large breed kibble. I have a dog at or just under 60 lbs and she is a pit bull and boxer mix about 3.5 yrs old who is fairly active. Would you recommend the regular or large breed adult food? She is on taste of the wild now
Can you tell me which nutri source would be the best low fat for a diabetic dog please?
Would you consider Nutrisource to be as good as orijen ?
Good day! Nutrisource and Orijen both are wonderful foods and have their advantages. The Element is going to be closer in meat inclusion to the Orijen while the regular Nutrisource would have meat inclusion. With that being said, Nutrisource is very meat dense compared to many of the foods on the market as well! We have worked with Orijen and Nutrisource for years and both really deliver, but you may feed less with Orijen compared to Nutrisource due to the density. Honestly, both choices will deliver and you will have a happy and healthy dog. Thank you for such a great question! -Chris
