This makes me real sad this wasn't some kind of bizarre TV show, maybe on Adult Swim somewhere 'cause they really achieved a whole vibe between the music and the animation.
There was plans to produce one a few years back, but it fell through for some reason.

Why can't it just be a video game
When Klaymen responds to Hoborg, im always shocked by his voice. Its sounds too normal compared to the rest of the characters which i think its really funny. I think it adds to the vibe, honestly.

Props to the editor for the changes on the borders every time something interesting happens. Very charming
uhm i think these are borders done by artists from the community, they just change cause it's a different part.
I wanted to add something to the border since it hadn't been done yet, made the decision to add a single piece of the clay figures after each segment.

When I first saw this game I had a really bad flu, and so I was having a lot of fever dreams and for the longest time, until I saw Vinny play this on stream I thought that's all it was.
This game is a fever dream, possibly mixed with weed and lsd for good measure

I've actually heard this game's soundtrack in several old GMod animations. Never knew where they came from, I just remembered them being really catchy.
I could have sworn I've heard "Triangle Square", the one with a sax as the lead instrument, somewhere before, but I might just be confusing it for the very similar song that was in Fantastic Game.

I played this as a kid and never knew what it was called. Fever dream game
I had no idea what this game was going into this. I could have sworn this title was made in the past five years. But 1996? Holy crap it feels undefinable era-wise, even with claymation.
The only thing that makes it feel dated (aside from the archaic puzzles although that is subjective) is the quality of the photos and cutscenes, compression really did this game dirty

Not the same, but Kubo and the Two Strings is a recent animated film with amazing animation.
Claymation and stop-motion animation in general is an underappreciated art form. I hope people continue to keep it alive.

I love this games style, but something about it makes me feel gross. Like in the same way bad mojo did. Specifically scenes like the weird bug one at the beginning, or the huge green monster. I don't know exactly how to put it except just... Unsettling in a gross way.

Vinny should definitely play Skullmonkeys, which is the direct sequel of this game.

Seconded - Skullmonkeys is every bit as ambitious and has the same outstanding art direction with an even better soundtrack, though in terms of gameplay...whether or not it actually lives up to that ambition is kinda up for debate.
(Personally? I think the actual platformer gameplay is a step back from EWJ2, which it arguably compares to most directly.)

@@Pepperpotater That's actually not the reason for the hall of records, though it does give some insight on the name. When Hoborg made the world the game takes place in, it was originally the "Everhood" as it was made from the Klay of Highest Quality that would never wither to age and would last forever. It's not actually mentioned on the wall, but it can be assumed that once Klogg took over and made it so that the Everhood would never be finished it came to be known as the Neverhood instead.
The wall itself is actually almost literally like a bible for the universe the game takes place in. It starts all the way at the creation and is narrated by a Jesus-equivalent. God gave him seven crowns with part of his power to do with as he saw fit, and he gave them to seven of his creations, Hoborg being only the sixth (Willie and Bil were made by the fifth, Ottoborg, who is only seen in paintings and statues in the game). The others that were given crowns made an absurd number of creations. The universe above and below the Neverhood deep within the void is full of countless things. One chapter of the wall goes deep into the Skullmonkeys, which are the topic of the sequel to the Neverhood, Skullmonkeys. Most of the chapters go into incredibly fine detail on inconsequential characters that never appear in any way, but it's interesting that their stories exist at all.

This was the first PC game I ever played aside from Mouse, and... damn did it leave an impact.
I was born in 1996 and this has to be one of the first games i remember playing as a young child. What a horrific terrifying game this was to me back then and I gave up on the game getting stuck on one of the puzzles i do remember so it was nice to watch you finish it.
Dear lord I remember walking down that entire hallway the first time I played the hame. It was a maddening experience that I wasn't sure would actually end.

This is one of my childhood favorite games, and seeing Vinny get to the bridge, knowing how much fun he was having with it all inspired me to go back to it and finally complete it. It's a shame that even now, it hasn't been picked up for GOG, but the good news is it is readily available on the internets, and with a bit of ScummVM, it works perfectly on modern systems. I implore anyone who is into weird and kooky games like Hypnospace Outlaw or Hylics, go check this game out.
Oh, and go play Armikrog if you really wanna play more of it and you don't care about the quality.
