VARROX®-Vaporizer - for the evaporation of oxalic acid dihydrate

For a successful winter treatment of broodless colonies, the oxalic acid dihydrate (VARROXAL) is evaporated with the VARROX® evaporator. The winter bees are treated with oxalic acid vapors at around 5 °C for a minimal disturbance of the winter cluster. This results in an oxalic acid vapor that covers the bees and hive surfaces with a very fine film of oxalic acid crystals. These fine crystals are well tolerated by the bees, but have a deadly effect on Varroa.
