Furries are fully customizable organisms or really any intelegance with some sort of vessel. The idea of the furry it's self is very creative and opens many artistic possibilies for living creatures themselves! And they're cute and/or cool!

Fiction is for anything and everything. The backstory of a protogen in your story can be completely different. One can say it is a different universe within the relm of fiction
As a writer, you could make anything about their lore of your story, for example, in a story I started writing a few months ago, the story is completely different, still with few which gained their consciousness, but most hadn’t, also takes place where war still goes on

I wish I had this a year ago when a furry friend of mine played a protogen in one of my D&D Homebrew campaigns I ended up making him a very important character who helped bring technology back to Earth after planet ending war
Oh boy do I love protogens and their lore. So much I couldn't help but think of a side story about them. Some months ago I created an OC called Xaberjam and through time this developed into having one nemesis, Aleeaz the exterminator, who wants to dispose of his life. It was all great. Everything sounded epic in my mind, having a protogen arrive to planet earth, slightly modified to fit the narrative. First contact with Aleeaz managing to land as well. The plot didn't develop further as I'm still "worldbuilding"... Kind of? Because I started to struggle with some obstacles. I care for creative mind's originality and I despise actions which are meant to abuse of someone else's work, so I can't help but think. Primagens are a closed species, and I don't have any intentions of breaking the rules coolkoinu set for their world. Then the struggle extended to the entire lore. My version, that's what I'd call it, would make it slightly different with unclear entities in the place of Primagens (I think it'd make sense cause they technically never get to see them), but I would have to know what they actually are in this parallel version. But again, changing names and appearance wouldn't seem right and it's probably something the original lore creator wouldn't want. I don't know. I also think that, even though protogens are an open species, it might not be right to touch and modify the lore. For example, something very similar is the opinions on deciding to terminate them or spare them, being one faction wanting to let them live how they want while the other one, way more barbaric but more technologically advanced as well, wants them to only to the task they were assigned to, having both factions be assigned to tasks at creation anyway just like the original lore. I'm still deciding if to keep every canon name of stuff like the name of the planet as well. And I don't intend to profit on that of course, because: -why would I mean too, my goal job is completely different; -like I said, I do respect everyone's work and don't feel entitled to "change" or "fix" something in their official and canon version; -I'm extremely unskilled on how to do such a thing. So yeah, just a humble and free fan work. I might wanna post it somewhere sometime but I'm not sure yet. There would be a proper disclaimer anyways. But maybe I'm just stressing out of nothing and shouldn't worry about it. What do you think? (Asking the creator is probably the best thing to do, but it might be too direct)
First time I was introduced to the Protogen species was with reading a Star Trek fan fiction on where the cpt Jean-Luc Picard and it's crew encounters a damage Protogen ship and later on a Borg cube. And yes the fan fic also includes Commander Riker flirting with a Proto.
I'm curious as to how a protogen becomes modular since it is grown and the illustrations depict non-modular protogen offspring in incubation, and how they are made to be modular if not already.
1. when I think about it, furries should be a more common element in sci-fi settings... fusing animal parts with human parts with biotechnology or straight-up full androids sounds like something that would be very common for... almost all purposes, entertainment, urban tribes, business, military, etc (at least in the human setting, in the aliens ones well it depend on the design of the aliens) 2. now that I'm thinking and considering that even in a "peaceful" state they produce it... imagine being the company that originally wanted to just made workers, but now they are citizens but you STILL need to create them... like... from a technological company to a "birth-service"? Idk if that´s a better or worse position but it definitely gives a lot of money xd but is also pretty weird... imagine that having a child was a service that you need to pay for 3. a game surrounding protogens would be... interesting. The war as a setting, protogens with different abilities and roles meaning different possible genres, or skill trees/abilities depending on your limbs, a separate magic system (arcai).... *for some reason my first thought is an action game, Metal-Gear-Rising style*
1: Completely agree; I make Sci-Fi stories and concepts that highlight futuristic technology as well as futuristic BIOLOGY (essentially furries) furries ARE futuristic biology 2: Yes, near the end I was for the Protogen rebelion, but then I also thought "well, we still need something for the manual labor…" 3: I myself have been fantisizing over a combat video game but with furries / much more verieties of combatting creatures than just humans with all their different traits and abilities. That would be awsome I think
@@KuQuack 2. this point make me imagine a story in which the company that created the Protogens at the begigning starts to finance the rebellion, "we get upgrades, money, guns, and propaganda in our favour, in exchange you´ll have full monopoly of almost all of our medical services" it would really fit into the cyberpunk style considering how important the role of companies in politics and war is in this genre
and it fits extremely well if you think about it for just a moment, Protogens gaining sentience is just like how guardians feel waking up after being revived from their first death
I were supposed to explore new places or be an engineer being around driving on railroads... but.. now since I haven't been born again correctly I still try to make them respond and know that I were one of them but they still take me as an fool.. and so on. -Hjalle91

It's never stated in the lore whether the Primagens are the Primagenitors, but since the Primagens were made before the Protogens and they had to be made by someone, I'd have to say they aren't the Primagenitors. Also it's never shown what the Primagenitors look like
