I like that idea of clamping a straight edge to the crank, to find the pulley level. Simple and effective.
Nice custom brackets
Dave strikes the right balance between talking and doing!
Thank you, that's good to hear.
Great job, love the hole finding hack 👏
Very clever 👍🏻
nicely done sir ! 👍👍👍👍👌👌
Brilliant job Dave. I can't think of anyone who does this type of thing better.
Very kind of you Bob, thank you.
Another job off the list!
You certainly don't let the lack of every detail of the job being known in advance put you off starting! You know you have the skills to deal with whatever problems arise and just crack on with it. Great result, if ever you get bored you could come back to some of those brackets and add some lightness!
Thanks Neil, add lightness, very Colin Chapman 😊
You're making great progress. 👍
Thanks 👍
Video TOP
Hi Dave I did fit the alternator below the exhaust manifold and as a bracket I use the one from a cvh engine which it work perfectly.
Great work again enjoyable hr 👍
Ever heard of engineers blue? Great stuff.
Nice fabrication work Dave
Fantastic metal fab work and helpful to other people in their builds. Saving money too. Look forward to the next one.
I've only just found this channel and I like the old fords and being trying to get a project soon when I can find one which I can afford I must stay I like the simple and easy way you did that I'm going to subscribe and have a look at the old episodes to see what welding and fabrication as that's wat I enjoy watching watching as that's my trade for 25 years 👍
Hi Peter, welcome to the channel. You may need to watch my welding through your fingers 🤣
@@DavesGarageuk just interested in how much the welding you had to do as any ford are normally bad I wish I never sold my MK1 fiesta supersport in 2000s but times have changed and anything ford is silly money now but people will pay it
Great watching Dave.
Cleaver stuff Dave I’ve never have worked out how to Alternize anything like that very interesting video ! aircon in an escort ..now that’s proper progress I like the sound of that …next job automatic
With heated seats and steering wheel and I might order one myself I am getting old and appreciate the modern comforts 🤣 ..great vid ..and the gardens tidy 👍
Thanks, yep, as I'm getting older I too want some comfort
Looking good dave
good job
Brilliant video as always, Aircon in Wales is like having an ice maker in the Artic lol .Looking forward to getting seats in and secure video 👍
🤣 we get some hot days
Great job Dave. Seats are going to look fantastic, really like those. Can’t wait for the next video
Cheers Mick
Looks nice as always! Doesn't the belt move at all when the engine revs a bit? Would be a shame if it fouled the engine.
They do, but usually on a longer part away from pulleys, so it should be ok here. Fix and alter if not..
Coming together very nicely Dave, that Alfa interior will look very luxurious in a Ford Escort and I can see you deciding to fit the air con (as a separate project at a later date). - I wonder if it could take the place of the idler pulley on the serpentine some how?
Thanks, the only room available is lower down, so the idler would need to stay
@@DavesGarageuk yes I suspected the a/c unit would need to be lower but also you might consider if the idler needs to exist at all if the route of the belt itself could still operate just as well running lower down around the a/c pulley, as idler pulleys are generally only there to maximise the area of contact between the belt and the next “driven” pulley. (I believe)..
great video you spoke about an ignition control fro an orion can you supply me with more information as i am thinking of putting 45 on a focus track car instead of running a MEU style system
I believe it's known as known as the "silver edis", there is another one that is red, and both have a vacuum port for advance. Not sure how well it's map will suit my setup, so a bit of an experiment.
Beware, there is a standard edis module that is a flat 10degrees btc and needs an external ecu to control the advance.
Hi Dave have you been to Swansea prison to get your hair cut again😂😂
🤣🤣 it's my by-annual shauning
Hey dave...good goin fella..i used original alt mount with a adj bracket on the w/p.....found a 5pk1200 fitted pukka
Also done away with idler pully
As always looks the part fella, never a disappointment. How long before you have finished my car then Dave ? 😜 😝
Mate Air conditioning 😮
🤣
Did you take the threads out of the nuts you welded to the backing plate for the mount? It was hard to tell in the video because that looked like maybe you had in one shot but not in another. Thinking about the potential for thread damage to the block when tightening bolts if they're still threaded.
A great job as always.
Yep, run then through the drill for clearance
"Fandabidozi"...haven't heard that in a while.
Not since Nicola Sturgeon stepped down 😂😂😂
🤣

Hi Dave, is there any chance you would rent or sell me the escort jig.
Great chanel. Keep up the good work Mr.
Regards Duncan.
I'll be needing it for the Manta, sorry. I've built it so I can adapt it to suit both.
Hi, that makes good sense, I've not done much welding before in fact it's my first proper effort, just wanted to make sure everything was straight. Thanks for getting back to me, much appreciated.
Regards Duncan
👍👍👍👍
