I was luck to met her at world of wheels maybe a year before she passed. She was so sweet. A fun was in a wheelchair and couldn't get on stage. She went down and met him. She gave him a big hug. When it was my true to meet her. I didn't think she would take her time and talk to me. Like so many like me. She was my first love. She took my by the hand and talked to me for about five minutes. She was a caring and so sweet. Beautiful inside and out.
Mary Ann was the best ever... I felt that Ginger was a bit jealous of her because the fans adored her a bit more. Her sweetness and her innocent look about her made her the best actress for the part and she was my favorite character 💗
Of all the celebrities that died due to Co-Vid, to me, Dawn Wells was the hardest to take! Even though she was 82, her timeless beauty never seemed to diminish! My friend met her and Rusell Johnson (Professor) at a celebrity fair in the 1990's & said that both were cordial & friendly! She will be sorely missed! R.I.P. Dawn (All the guys my age were in love with you!)
Great video! Tons of interesting information about her that was new to me. It was also great to hear that she was able to live out the final years of her life in comfort. ❤️
Medicine's loss was acting's gain. I had a lot of physical therapy while growing up because of being born with ataxic cerebral palsy and physical and occupational therapists do great jobs.
I loved Dawn. She was so pure. MaryAnn was my favorite actress on Gillian's Island also. And that comment about how she looked in 2021 well I bet you don't look like you did in your younger years either. What a stupid comment. I thought she was beautiful.
Mary Ann was my favorite character. I almost had that name when I was about seven. My middle name is Ann. One of my grandmother's name was Ann. My other grandmother's name was Mary. When I was about seven my parents asked me if I wanted to change my first name to Mary so I could have both their names but I declined. I just didn't feel like an Mary. Sometimes now I wish I had changed my name. Not because I feel more like a Mary now, but because it would pay homage to both my grandmothers.
Marianne seemed like a genuine character that she played she was mostly likley the same way has her character that is why she did so well in.the role she play
I always loved Dawn Wells and her performance as Mary Ann. She was my first love growing up. Come to think of it, who wouldn't want to love her? I always thought that Tina Louise AKA: Ginger was a Bimbo. Dawn on the other hand was a special person and she worked very hard to make her character Mary Ann as brilliant as she was.
I always thought Mary Ann was much more attractive than Ginger. I knew Ms. Wells passed but did not know it was from COVID! A friend of mine for almost forty years had COVID, recovered, caught it again and passed away four days after telling me he caught it again.
Mary Ann...Ginger always gave me the feeling that she would pick her career over the man she loved whereas Mary Ann would have given everything up for her love. Between the two characters Mary Ann would win for me because she would be loyal from start to finish.
Ginger was the kind of girl you date for a while and have fun with, but Mary Ann is the kind of girl you bring home to Mom and introduce her as your future wife.
Mary and of course excuse the errors I’m using speech to text I got to meet Dawn Wells And she was very gracious and took me to dinner and spend time with me I have multiple disabilities and illnesses and it was really nice to have her think of me enough to take me out like that she was a really special lady
I fell dawn wells was great for gilligans island. I felt she was great for the show and feel she was the best actor for the show. I’m glad she got help from her fans from gillians island to keep her going later in life when she needed it.
MeTV shows three straight hours of Gilligan's Island every sunday afternoon. I record these "three hour tours" and watch throughout the week. I always liked Mary Ann. (I like short ladies). I was born in 1961 and love recording the old shows on MeTV.. They just started showing the Addams Family a month or so ago and it's on daily in the afternoon. One show weekdays. MeTV shows Svengoolie and sci-fi saturday nights with shows like Buck Rogers, Star Trek, Lost in Space and others for like seven hours sat nite sunday morning.
Dawn was never really pigeon-holed. she used the character of Mary Ann as a stepping stone to other venues. one of her roles was a role in The Owl and the Pussycat where she played a hooker, believe it or not. She had many other roles where she played characters that were not quite in the Mary Ann tradition. She was more versatile than most people give her credit for. I was proud to be one of the contributors to her GoFundMe fund.
I have always loved Maryann than Ginger. Maryann was more real. I met Ms Wells in 2016 at a convention in Lakeland Florida. I got her autographed and took a picture of her with me.
Some how I think she would have been more productive to humanity by becoming a physician But she lives I some many ppl memories maybe that’s just as productive We do need more women like her
I had heard that she died at the Motion Picture And Television Home in the Valley. That is often where industry professionals end up when they don't have a lot of money. It is however, a very nice place. I had also read that things went downhill for her when she suffered a fall several years before her death. I took this to mean a hip fracture--a common accident among older people. It's very sad; she had a number of small business ventures (started with real estate she inherited from close friend Natalie Schaeffer) but they went bust in the crash of a decade back. Dawn Wells was awfully sweet.
I always thought Dawn had the most beautiful skin. I guess you could call it Olive. She was a very pretty lady and I used to think that she would marry her co star Bob Denver. But he was happily married to Dreama.
Raquel Welch wasn't what they were looking for,ya think? They would have had 2 Gingers. Mary Ann was always my answer too Ginger or Maryann but Mr Howell was always my favorite character followed by The Skipper.
Wow, amazing what trifle someone will use to make another Dawn Wells video out of just to post something on UA-cam. Dawn's cat, Shadow, used to bite her all the time also. Maybe make a video out of that, too?
I wonder how she hurt her knee? She was my favorite character on Gilligans. Ginger was phony and mousy but Mary-Ann was down to earth and I thought prettier. All of the actors did a great job, though
She will always be an indelible part of my life. It was always Maryanne over Ginger but to be fair, it was hard to pit two beautiful woman against each other. Tina Louise was always the glamorous movie star to me, on and off screen. Ultimately unattainable and perpetually beautiful. Maryanne was more representative of the women I've known in my life, honest, hard working, pretty and confident. Dawn Wells was always the girl, Tina Louise, the woman.
Of course, any of the cast bios would be great. I've seen a few already, they all offer something new. Cast bios from other popular TV shows of the 60s and 70s as well.
And BTW, I've seen her in a few things on TV and I remember thinking, "oh, that's Marianne from Gilligan's island" and in the next breath, "she can really act, she's like a chameleon!"
I heard 2008 she lost a lot of money due to the recession and back in the day you was just glad to be working your agent never dreamed of syndication no royalty checks in the mail. Sad sad
Enjoy your channel, but please no more Gilligans Island stories. How about some of the other many classic shows from televisions past days,. Most just as great and deserving of some acknowledgment also ?.
I always wanted Marianne and ginger, not Marianne or ginger !!! Truth is I loved Gilligan Island and I loved Thurston Howell the third and lovey, the show's growing up in the sixties were so stupid but how could you forget them like the adams family or the ministers etc.
My choice would be Ginger. When she was young, Tina Louise was incredible, she just didn't age well. Dawn Wells had a big nose, and she would have much better looking with a nose job. Of course everyone was looking at her legs.
I think there is no such thing as type casting just producers and directors who won't give a actor a chance too try something new or they were black listed

Nice to see these tributes to such a kind and good person! We will miss and remember her forever!
Ginger was a fling, but Mary Ann was the one you took home to mom and married.
So true
Dawn wells was my favorite on the show
*LOVED Mary ANN, but I Hated the Show!!!*
Mary Ann always & forever! Absolutely beautiful inside and out! Godspeed Dawn Wells! Thank you for being so sweet!

One of the most instantly likable actresses ever . They could not have chosen better .
Even as she age, she never lost her amazing charm. So age so amazingly gracefully.
She was always humble.
She had a heart of gold.
I met her once, she was playing Annie in Annie Get Your Gun at a dinner theatre. She truly was a gracious and nice lady.
I loved Mary Ann and the Professor. They are still the reason I watch the show to this day. I liked all of the others as well.
She was great person and always remember as Mary Ann. God bless her.
Mary Ann, my favorite ❤ yes
Mary Ann was my favorite character. Her kindness, humility, and down to earth personality combined to make her great. 😀
Although Gilligan usually took center stage Mary Ann was always my favorite castaway. RIP Dawn Wells.
Maryann was my favorite on Gilligan's Island. I enjoyed the role she played on the show.
"Why couldn't Dawn Wells have lived FOREVER?"

Mary Ann was always my favorite. She was beautiful, sweet, innocent and practical, not to mention those iconic short shorts and beautiful legs.
Just admit it. She was a hottie. Nothing wrong with that.
Marianne seemed like a genuine character that she played she was mostly likley the same way has her character that is why she did so well in.the role she play

In response to the perennial question: "Ginger or Mary Ann?" Who wouldn't pick Mary Ann?
I would pick mary ann every day of the week and twice on sunday mary ann was the girl next door while ginger was kind of a bimbo to put it mildly
I was always team Mary-Anne.
I was always partial to mrs. Howell lol
Definitely Mary Ann over Ginger for me, and it's not even close. Dawn truly had a sweet, down-to-earth demeanor both onscreen and off.
even in her 80s she was still pretty unreal
I had a huge crush on her as a kid!
Sorry to hear your gone Maryann 😥
Maryann your beauty outshines ginger by far

She should have been a regular on the show asa member of the Forrester family.
Maryann by far !
I'm just sorry I never got to meet her.

Mary Ann. If I remember correctly there have been numerous Mary Ann, Ginger, polls among men, and the "girl next door," Mary Ann, always wins.
Ginger and mary Ann are fictional characters.

Dawn Wells was America's sweetheart. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Mary Ann was that typical girl next door type, that you fall in love with and pine over.
When I was a kid , the question always was , who's hottest , Barbara Eden or Elizabeth Montgomery . To me it has always been Dawn Wells.
No doubt MARY ANN! 💙
Mary ann all the way
R.I.P and thanks
I love that show
She also made an appearance on the TV show "Roseanne", during their Gilligan's Isle episode.
She also made appearances on the love boat and fantasy island 🏝️.
And she was looking just as hot. Timeless beauty. She never lost her Maryann looks.

She was married to a talent agent named Larry Rosen from 1962-1967.
The producer of Gillian Island the right one that play Mary Ann Dawn Wells was perfit
Mart Ann hands down!!
