Awesome video! I did almost exactly what you did, except i sectioned out the top of the square tube and grafted in half of a 1.5" pvc pipe rather than use a spacer block for the propane line, so my square tube is flush with the frame, but the propane line passes "through" it. Think of an upside down tunnel.
Great idea. I'll most likely need to mount mine under the back bumper (on a sprinter van rv) because the outfitter put fibreglass cowling on the sides so access is very limited. But the concept should work well. Thanks for posting this.
Like the rain gutter use. We use one to support sewer hose at cg's to protect our hose front weed trimmers, angled down for connections with 'surplus' length secured up under rv held in place by bungie cord.
Hello, thank you for sharing this tip. I am going to use it on my rv. I am curious about the aluminum setup you have on your truck tailgate. Would you mind sharing information about it. What it is and where you purchased it. You were sitting on it also used it as a work table when you cut the angle piece. Thank you.
That is called the Z-Bench. As far as I know it is no longer being produced. I have moved this from one truck to another 3x. It is a great product and very well made. Thanks for watching.
Long term, has the middle started to sag at all? I did a fence post on the bumper of my last travel trailer, but my new one has a rack in the way. It was also on top, so it wasn’t ever going to sag. This looks like a good location, but I’m curious about middle support. It’s all light, maybe I don’t need anything???
No sag on this. That fence post is really strong lengthwise, I could stand on it. The weight of the sewer hose is nothing for this. Works great. Thanks for watching.
Like your cotterpin and springs. When you do these videos can you include the details of the brands, sizes of springs and cotterpins? I was able to stop the video to see the springs you bought but I see that pack has 2 sizes. I assume you used the 5/32 X 2-1/2 X .020 springs from that pack. I was unable to see what size cotterpins you used? I did hear you say you used SS cotterpins.
I used the larger springs, the cotter pins are 1.5in long, I dont rememberthe stem size, but they dont need to be large as not much shear pull from the springs. Thanks for watching.
Nice job!! Ideally, you'd have 1/4" per foot of run in your pipe to insure that water/waste that gets into the storage pipe will run out. Best solution I have seen yet for cap closure is to glue 1/2" steel rod sections into the corners (proud), then glue vinyl sheet inside the cap and use the flat surfaces to glue neodymium magnets in the cap corners (spaced away to allow pipe to seat fully. The magnets (KJ Magnetics) can be chosen in 1/2" diameter and whatever thickness will give you the clamping strength you need with 4 magnets. This way, you make both caps easily removable to swab the pipe out if necessary. Then add the vinyl/aluminum gutter section as a slide-out for the hose, AND it can ALSO double as a slope support when in use IF you make the end braces properly...
Couple of thoughts: Vinyl fencing materials can be ordered in black Longer springs for the cap would had reached your mounting bolts, elimination snag points on the interior
Awesome idea and awesome video!! Less than $50 but so is the valterra extendable sewer hose carrier...did you look into those and decide this way was better for some reason?
No, I didnt look into any to buy recently. I've made this mod several times over the years and this is a good project I can do in a day. Thanks for watching.
I am brand new to the RV world and so appreciative for guys like you who take the time to share your handiwork with others.

Great idea with the pins & springs. Keeps the cap from getting lost, quick and easy access.
Excellent video man!
Talk about real reality TV.
Great idea. I will be adding two of these. One for the hose and one for my fishing rods. Thanks Tony
Thats a great idea. Thanks for watching.

What a great mod, and timely. I was scratching my head about the end cap. Your spring loaded cap is great

Found something similar at tractor supply

Any issues with cotter pins puncturing hose or getting big the way?
Where you get the tailgate bench ? Too cool.
It's called the Z bench. No longer available, but mine is for sale now. $100, in ohio currently.

@@redroofretriever thanks, I am doing 3 of these on our trailer. I will be installing them tomorrow.
Nice job!!

Thanks, I'm doing this! Why not drill holes in the bottom to let any moisture out?
I did that, great suggestion. Thanks for watching.

Looks like black posts are only available in 5' or 7' lengths...
Thanks for sharing! Doing some research on doing this to our trailer as well
Great job.

@@redroofretriever on your sewer hose compartment video, what size springs and cotterpins did you use?
Thanks
Dave
Great job! How long were those hanger bolts?
I think they were 7" long.
I like the bench you have on the tailgate where did you get that?
It's called the Z-Bench. I dont think it is available these days. I've moved it to its 3rd truck, dont want to lose it, it's that good.
yes its looks like it comes in handy
Nice !!!!!!!!👑
👏 good job 👍
