Yes.
I believe without our injuries we would be challenging this season.
Me too
Don't disagree but 4 other teams could also say that
@@toddr1546that's irrelevant though, we're talking about specifically villa
The answer is clearly yes. What we absolutely must do is stick with this manager, even if we have seasons where we finish lower.
Breaking the back on commercial revenue is going to be the key to enabling us to sign top players and pay competetive wages. The biggest challenge there is achieving that revenue whilst keeping the character of the club. With unai though, we can clearly perform above our level but it needs to be ensured that's sustainable.
With 115 charges against city and liverpool changing managers we will be battling against arsenal hopefully
165 plus offsides has been Masterful & we are working towards really some excellent footie all over the pitch.
Title Winners 24/25 season⚽️👍
UP THE MIGHTY VILLA🦁💪👊👍
I think with Unai and Monchi at the wheel “without ffp” we would have done it next season, I honestly do believe we would of filled every potential weaker link, that’s why when ffp was introduced there should have been steps taken to create a level playing field because at present we (and Newcastle) are not able to spend as the top clubs did freely in yesteryears, and subsequently are unable to challenge for the title (anytime soon anyway), I think we’ll get there, just going to take a little longer UTV
If we can remain at this level and win a cup or two the coming years I will be more than pleased.
Football is so hard predict and hours is spent trying to do so. Villa’s next aim is to be more consistent and become relentless in getting through games and winning them. Some cup wins along the way will build the winning mentality that is essential for any title ambitions UTV
Some might not agree but without all the injuries this season, we'd have another 10-15 points more and challenging for the title. Not impossible
On Arsenal, to Dan's point about if we didn't have significant injuries we would be closer to the top - Arsenal have only missed Partey and Timber for any significant period this season (and they bought Jorginho and Rice to cover/replace Partey, and Ben White has been sensational at RB in place of Timber). So, looking at Klopp being gone, Pep leaving and it opens up for Arsenal - I think it opens up for any of the top 6 teams assuming you don't have significant injuries. Same for Newcastle as us. Too many serious, long term injuries. Arguably Spurs too. Difference is we have Unai + backroom team
Villa back in the day were a consitent top 6 club challenging occasionally for the title..that"s where i see Villa...talking about injuries is irrelevant all teams have them..squad is simply not good enough to win title as it stands and it will be 3-5 years away for the club to be consistent enough year in and out to truly challenge
Can we? Yes.
Will we? Probably not.
Angry by your title? We all know that big chunk of silver belong to us,The Greatest Football Club there ever was! Villa Forever!
The answer is yes, within the next 2yrs....my prediction, take it or leave it
I have high hopes we can improve year on year and finish anywhere from 1st to 5th consistently. With the provoso that Mr Emery stays with us. In my honest opinion he is virtually unique as a coach! UTV!!
Yes we can we can do it it open up for everybody now
Not with the new spending rules, the fact that we voted against them means we was planning on doing some serious damage this summer
A bit controversial but our next step is to increase our revenue streams to enable us to compete regularly. I don't see it happening at Villa Park, we need a new stadium to compete in the mid to long term especially with FFP.
Not possible right now or in the near future, to much is unknowable in terms who we can keep and sign what happens to the teams above us and below, arsenal have been good enough to win in the past two seasons and Liverpool mostly for a long time now and both are much better in terms of quality and depth aswell as financially, we might get closer next season if united and Chelsea still haven't gotten their acts together and Liverpool have a poor season after klop but then we still have city and that has been a bridge to far for any team in 6 out of the last 7 seasons. I'll still dream though UTV.
Well, if you had had a podcast 3 years ago entitled "Can Aston Villa play in the Champions League one day?" It would seem fanciful. You never know do you. One thing is for certain if we do win the Premier Peague one day, that will be one hell of a ride
Utd finished 2nd on 74 points not too long ago
We can do it, why not? Leicester did it. We have an elite manager, and with a fit squad and 3 or 4 signings we'll be right up there
can see villa competing i believe we will get an FA cup and europa cup in the next 3 yrs the league would be nice
we'd have a chance with Torres mings and konsa at cb i am not saying it would work its just it could , we would be solid with Kamara mings and konsa in the side but better with torres playing and i dont see any of then as good full backs now , i'd say we should try it pre season , of course one of the 3 could step into midfield or mings bomb on as a full back then back in cb when we loose possession, against spurs the 3rd cb was cutting out passing lanes so they need to go somewhere random and i think that means mings pushing up in the lb spot and left and the lb in a 10 sort... do people think thats feasible ?
It's all about building the consistency, Leicester came out of nowhere to win the league but that wasn't through steady progress or heavy investment, it was a remarkable season they shown how hard team work pays off, but doing that again and again proved too much as their making their way back up from the Championship.
Blackburn also fall into that similar category, but everyone else who has won the league has shown consistency and been around the conversation year in year out, utd consistently there battling Arsenal, Chelsea v utd, City battling Liverpool over the most recent seasons, eventually they'll fall off same way utd arsenal did, and it could be us battling Spurs or West Ham in that top 3 fight for the title one day, nobody would have imagined City would be top team having done the treble around the era of time utd achieved that, they didn't do it over night, it took them many years to get to that status, but historically they never shown any glimpses of it, money has played its obvious part in their success, but we have our own model to build upon and Emery has slowly built up a level of consistency where we are still looking to improve, I don't think we're too far away from being in a huge title chasing cycle of few years if we continue on the upward path we're on.
I think there's a likelihood that Liverpool will drop off when Klopp leaves. The same goes for Manchester City when Guardiola leaves.
It's dependent on if the likes of Spurs, Chelsea, Manchester Utd still have drop offs.
I can't see if happening to be honest, but I'm enjoying things while they last.
I really hope we can with Unai Emery as our manager the sky's the limit. UTV
Be nice, think our highest in prem was 2nd so first would be awesome, need to inprove current team tho
I wouldn't be surprised if we are in the race next season, it can only get better than this season with all our injuries. I'll be putting on a cheeky £20 bet
Would be amazing. 1 FA cup in my lifetime would be good.
With Unai as manager they will need to have a team of aliens play Villa because no one on this planet will be good enough ONE DAY
Poddymoor never looked better. Can we actually win the title? The answer is yes. UTV
Without getting too carried away... var cost us 2 points against sheffield... 2 points against wolves first time round.. officiating also gave utd the first goal in the 2nd game so theres at least 5 points.. so were not a million miles away at all
When you consider the stupid points we dropped against teams we should have beaten, plus the lack of players we’ve had due to injury, then I would definitely say yes! And I’m not daydreaming with that comment!
Yes & yes, maybe yes, again! 3 titles, Champions league & a couple of F.A. cups! Unai it makes sense! 😜😁😁
Don’t forget Ming getting injured
Can but it will take some time to increase commercial revenue, build bigger stadium and get more international fans. Then we can get better players.
Unless we do Leicester city 😅
If arsenal can’t then we can, we’ve got
Super Unai Emery UTV
Why was John's chair so wobbly 😅
It’s broken and I’m not sitting in it anymore 😂
All (ah there's the rub) it takes to win the Premier League: gobs of money, smart folks making good decisions with the money and .. of course.. a bit of luck. So sure, it could happen.
Of course they could
Most def ….
2 to 3 seasons time
I’m not sure why you guys think this is controversial.
Obviously we can win it, we weren’t far off this season.
I was expecting a lot more “deluded, who are these cocky idiots” etc
@@ClaretBluePod no I think you’re right in that we’ve caught up to these teams who were well ahead of us.
Also disagree with John that you need to build for years. Arsenal finished outside top 4 for 5 years before last season when they competed, Leicester won the prem after a relegation battle, it took Man City 3 years to compete, Liverpool under Klopp did it after 1 season.
Emery will expect to compete for the title
Not this season though
We need a limit on what clubs can spend say £100 million a season 😮they that would give all clubs a chance , otherwise it’s Man City over n over 🙄
100 million? That's what the average player is worth atm
@@AmyRose91 maybe get £100 million for Watkins no other player at villa would be priced at £100 million, and if we had a limit prices would fall making it better for us all
I'm 24 so I've seen us win nothing.
Very hopeful that this will change by the end of this season but even if we do win the Conference League - I would absolutely love for Villa to win the FA Cup.
