Better is subjective with respect to the competition rules, whatever you liked best is better! Semi contact (ITF types) rules are arguably more entertaining and easy on the eye, but the full contact (Olympic, WT) has the advantage that the top end competitors are miles ahead in terms of physical development and skills. That has nothing to do with Olympic rules events being a 'better' ruleset, but simply there's orders of magnitude more money involved globally because of the Olympic status, which is why there are relatively huge number of full time professional Olympic rules fighters, with funding for the best professional conditioning and nutrition support, along with highly competitive ranking and grand Prix circuit with prize money that's easy for fans to follow. No reason not to watch and enjoy both 🙂
this is the best Sparring I've seen in a long long time. The Russian guy's counter attacks are so fast and precise... Damn. And it's not like nowadays that they just throw side kicks all the time, this guy does a lot of spinning kicks, superb.
I am from the future but good news, spinning and tornado kicks are now making a rapid comeback after a short era of pointless side kickings in ITF sparring 😊
this is some of the best sparring i have seen. i just got my black belt recently and this level of ability is something i will devote everything to achieve
Man, those kicks and the footwork. Not a fan of the low guard myself, but I get it. The long range distancing for kicks makes it viable. The punching skills could be sharpened up a bit, but hey, no one's perfect.
well, gorgeous tornado from the russian guy. and the tecnhique is very accurate! I love this fight! despite the fact the koreans are always on the top, this neighbour of mine just overcame him... fantastic! :)
The Olympic competition is fought under WTF rules this is fought under ITF rules, the 2 governing bodies of taekwando have different conditions and scoring rules.
Question (I do karate) but in ITF taekwondo do they also have pads surronding there fore am and shins or just hand and foot. And also are punches to the head allowed.
Only foot & hands are compulsory. Shin pads are optional and no one wears forearm guards as they are WTF. Punches to the head are allowed in ITF but not Olympic WTF
+Mr 09Gutek not at national level and rarely at black belt even at small tournaments. If it is required that is a local thing for your area. It goes against the idea of having control of your technique.
They do have a guard... but their arent up in the traditional boxing fashion..one hand needs to be down to guard against kicks... also hands that are tight a la some boxers inhibit kicking. So the guard is like a loose half shell guard similar to the guard that Mayweather uses.
The Korean fighter was reaching too much into his kicks, much less power/penetration. He should have closed down the Russian with punches, once he timed past, the Russians one trick pony kick. Would have been a messier but better fight. ITF is way better than the absolute impractical and useless mess the South Koreans made with WTF rules, but ITF TKD needs to move to the ring/the open floor format leave it stuck with low guard hit and run. Thing to remember is, you cannot easily execute spectacular high kicks on trained fighters, there is a lot of anticipation/jamming and footwork that stops that, but in the ring you can close down an opponent, stun with body/head punches/obscure vision and then followup with knockout head kicks. Hit and run tactics, are used here because it's a points system, 3 points for a head shot/2 for hand etc. These TKD fighters are super flexible and lightning fast, but like all rules based competition, it's limited, what technique you actually get to see. Best format is MMA, close to the street, bar eye gouging/groin shots/back of head/eye attacks, the real dog eat dog martial arts from feudal times.
1:37 is pretty damn awesome
+++++++++++++++
ITF is better than wtf from what I see if some professional could confirm
More opinion than objective fact, but I prefer ITF for various reasons.
ITF sparring is way more entertaining, to both play and watch.

ITF is the original style of TeakwonDo

Side kicks can be easily countered

Unfortunately, no. I moved cities and had to stop, because there is no practice here.

que gran nivel, no me canso de ver esta pelea! siempre se aprende algo nuevo
Why is this more dynamic than the Olympic sparring match? Please I really want to know.
The Olympic competition is fought under WTF rules this is fought under ITF rules, the 2 governing bodies of taekwando have different conditions and scoring rules.
Use of punching..changes things..you know..note they arent doing that weird grabbing thing that Olympic tkd people do,
Because..punching to the head..lead leg kicking..no hogu...no belly to belly clinching..etc
Ri chol nam?

I see thanks I was wondering about those differences for awhile now.
Absolutely outstanding job from red. Mayweather in TKD!
3:01 what's that tornado ????
Nice tornado at 1:14
it's a 360 turning Kick mate. tornado is kickboxing
its not a tornado kick but they use that in taekwondo as well
A 360 turning kick is also often referred to as a tornado kick
is amazing the concentration of the russian guy after of giving that kick, never out of the game plan.
¿No se penaliza la falta de iniciativa? El Ruso no inició nunca un ataque se limitó a contraatacar.
muy buena pelea exelente
I just love to watch it . Russian man you preety awesome man .

which branch of ITF is this one?

why do they have no head guard, I do ITF TKD and a head guard is MANDATORY

Didn't know that thanks but at all the tournaments iv e been everyone needs all guards except chest
Евгений шустро работал быстро ноги бросал двигался ,уклонялся
Nice tornado kick, PAK!! , Seeing a bird in 2 seconds..

hermoso tornado kick en 1:13
I dont understand why they have no guard!
they do have guard, but not in the typical boxing-guard way

***** Oh ofcourse, the North Korean definitely learned WTF Taekwondo in NORTH KOREA.
You are an idiot.
*****
Nope..thats how ITF people spar...
Their guards are lower at a distance . when you start throwing punches or get close range then you typically bring your hands up. It conserves energy
