Most of our steam locomotives live on small heritage railways around the country. They occasionally visit the main line, but very rarely. A Steam Special is a very rare occurrence!!
One of my last jobs was to be Train Janitor behind the S160 locomotive that visited the Epping Ongar railway a few years ago. It was a wonderful experience!!
The USA S160 was a most exciting locomotive to clear up the carriages behind!! The smoke was thick and heavy and the sounds were just like those in this video.
@@Madonsteamrailways the Hudson name in the title refers to the wheel arrangement of the locomotives. Hudson is the name given to steam locomotives with a 4-6-4 wheel arrangement.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful video. You have shown us in England the sound and style of railroads over there!! It was most enjoyable!!

R 711's whistle sounds very menacing! Nice video mate
it sounds cute
We never had an event called Steamrail, but we’re in England and have very few steam locomotives on the standard railway/railroad!!
Over here in England, heritage railways are limited to a maximum speed of 25 mph!! I used to be a porter on the Epping Ongar Railway in Essex.
Might I ask exactly where this video was taken? It’s beautiful scenery and wonderful locomotives!!
@@Madonsteamrailways All clips are captured on the Bairnsdale line, also know as the Gippsland line. Travels out to eastern Victoria.
Hudson River is Canada, isn’t it? No wonder the scenery is so beautiful in such a rugged sort of way!!

The first locomotive I saw looked like an S160!! Am I right?
