    Wow! We were along the North Shore 3-4 weeks ago - what a crazy difference!

      For sure! The lake has been very calm this summer with mostly completely flat waters. Has been nice but I definitely love when it gets like this too!

    0:55 The force of the wave blasted a chunk of rock off of the cliff face.

      Yeah pretty wild to see! My buddy captured an even bigger chunk getting broken off that day too. The shore takes a beating in those storms.

      Thanks Max! It was a challenge filming in that wind, you can definitely notice some shake on the second half shots zoomed in more with the telephoto

    Following from Instagram. Love the long distance shot over the water where you can watch each individual wave build and come in. In the ocean, it is usually a pattern of 7 waves, with the pattern building up to the 7th. Is it similar on the Great Lakes? I can sit and watch that pattern for hours. Even on a day I'm not getting in it. Would love to see a long form steady video! Thanks

      Thank you so much! I love watching these waves when the lake gets like this. Here’s its most sets of three, dubbed the three sisters.

    John! What did you use to film this? your Canon or phone? Great job of editing! I see Shovel Point near the end of the video. :-) did you get wet??

    • @Keefography
      @Keefography  2 роки тому

      Hey Ron! This was all shot on my Canon EOS R which held up nicely in those conditions. I had plenty of layers on but was starting to get wetted out towards the end of the day!

      @@Keefography I long for the day I can spend time with you again. Hopefully, there will be a Homegrown this year! And I am healthy enough to be there.

    do these sort of storms persist throughout the winter? im trying to get up there to film this same thing but its march. I just hope i havent missed the opportunity

      Not so much due to ice forming on the lake. The best window for big waves (at least for us here on the North Shore of MN) is typically November & December.

    Why was it shot in black&white, just kidding!
