23. Trailer Sailer (Compac 16). Need new Jib Cleats.

- Had very good but unpredictable winds this day. Gusts were causing my jib sheets to come out of the cleats. I need to replace them or look into a barber-hauling system to ease the angle between the jib and the cleat.

Thanks for the inspirational videos. I got my 16 Mk1 back from Hutchins ( they restored her for me) and have been sailing her in Biscayne Bay now for a few weeks. Best little boat ever!!! I get good ideas from watching your vids please keep sharing.

Jib sheets outside the stays maybe?
@@robertdaly9870 I used to run them outside. I may try it again next time to see if that makes a difference. Thanks
@@SailingrumrunnerII I agree, I think the jib sheet is getting extra strain from being pulled up against the stay and then dislodging.

Is your main roller reefed? Do you roll up the sail to store it?
@@paullambert5341 yes, some 16s have a roller reefing function built into the boom making it pretty easy to do and undo. I do not roll it to store. I just flake the main and use ties to secure to boom.
