God said, "MY PEOPLE ARE DESTROYED FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE''. This is why I do what I do today. I don't want Jesus to say to me "I NEVER KNEW YOU". For me, learning to know God is SOOO personable. When I first started my Christian walk, it was so hard to read the bible. It was boring, it was hard to read (small print). I felt like I was just reading words - with no meaning. Later, I found by accident, a giant print bible (from a thrift store) which was a GAME CHANGER. It seemed like the words just jumped out at me. I use to rely on my church and my pastor to feed me. I found that I just wasn't growing as a Christian. So I decide to READ/STUDY/MEDITATE on the bible for myself. I've become creative. Different versions, different font sizes, labeling, cool bible covers, high lite pens, etc. What ever it takes (even a genuine leather bible bag) keeps me EXCITED, INTERESTED and ENGAGED. Hello Jeff, you took the words right out of my mouth.. I am having a hard time reading my Bible, I have so many different translations and I am still lost. I listen to everyone else thinking that I can get the word and follow God’s instructions that way but I want to get to know God for myself.

I have tears in my eyes! God is faithful!!! I was just kicking myself for purchasing yet ANOTHER Bible today actually it just was delivered, The Tony Evans Commentary Bible, Leather. I said my family is going to look at me weird for having soooo many Bibles, and a Bible dictionary, and a separate whole commentary book also by Tony Evans. I was really fighting with myself. And then…this video comes on my feed! What?! That was everything God. Different Bibles suit my different needs. Love all of this! I found my people! ❤
Yes yes yessss!!! I always feel judged when someone sees me with a different bible. True story: my older sister came over this past weekend and said “wow every room I walk in I see a bible” and all I could say was “yup!” I love the Word of God. And I love the different translations, the different study notes, everything. I went through a period where I was going Bible crazy, and I began to be convicted of it. The Lord reminded me to stay away from idolatry, and ever since I have learned to be content with what I have (even when I’m tempted to buy more!) Sometimes a new Bible is necessary, and in the same way sometimes it’s unnecessary. I’ve found a way to find a balance, by giving away my unloved Bibles to the homeless and those in need whenever I find myself buying a new one! This has helped me a lot, along with limiting how many Bible videos I watch 😅😂 I’m so glad that this video has blessed you, God is so good!!! Please don't feel like that, my husband have 13 Bibles and I have 5 from RVL1960, NLT , NIV, NAST ect. We just love it is not a bad thing you are not alone

Girl, I get so convicted of buying things BUT I never get convicted of buying a Bible! I have so many and I love each one for different reasons, different translations, different formats. They ALL are loved, all used at some point of another. I pray that all the notes I write in them get read by my boys, future grandchildren and all those who come afterwards. I want them to know that way before they were, they were loved and wanted and planned by our Heavenly Father!

I absolutely LOVE this comment. It made me feel so seen and understood. I always think about my future children and grandchildren flipping through my bibles and reading my notes. My bible is such a vulnerable place where I pour out prayers as well, so just being able to let me children see that side of me will teach them how to be vulnerable with God as well. It is a way we can be apart of His great plan for those we love and even those who we may never know, if the Bible is donated. It is amazing to think about that and be a part of that. Love those. ❤ My favorite has honestly been the NLT compact Bible. The pink shimmery flower one. Love it. I totally understand the feeling of having pressure writing something in the journaling ones. All my Bibles are currently in storage. I had to buy another one. I purchased the NLT Student Application Bible. The adult one is bigger I think and I have small hands. Plus it’s more expensive. We’re all students of God’s word, so hopefully it’s fine. Fingers crossed.
Don’t ever be ashamed of investing in Gods word haha.I love thrifting old Bibles and see what some people leave inside at the notes they took. I also have different versions,translations,journal,and study Bibles.Stay in Gods word sis!God Bless😊💕🙏🏽
I loveee reading the little notes in used bibles, It feels so personal! And yes I don’t feel bad about it anymore, especially since I have found purpose for each of my Bibles! The blue letter is for colorblind people to recognize it. They don't see the red letter so Humble Lamb is amazing like that and they care for those other publishers don't really consider

I do have a collection & my son also uses. My ESV is my study bible that I add paper or anything pertaining to the Word, notes, highlighter, etc. My NLT I read to my husband during our Bible Study. KJV I take to church & make sermon notes on program which stick in my Bible. When I teach the Word at church I use whatever the Lord let's my topic/scripture break down well. I discovered Good News Bible from a young man 30 years ago. I have told so many people that wanting to understand about adding it to their Study Time. It is a game changer. I need to add another one to my collection. I also have a few parallel bibles too. Enjoy your collection & help others find a Bible version to add to their study time.

@@unholyconfessions I prefer a translation that's easy to read. I liked that one of your bibles had blue lettering for Jesus' words but I'm not fussy. And like single column or journaling, I'd like space to write :)
I'm 71 years old and my sister wants to buy me a new Bible. I've been looking at Amazon for 2 days and the more I see the more confused I am. I would like an NLT with red letter, wide lined margins, center column reference, thicker paper and study notes. I know that Bible doesn't exist but what I won't compromise on is blank space for notes & doodling and red letter. At my age I can just understand the NLT much better. I am not opposed to trying the ESV. I've never been interested in the NIV especially since they came out with the gender-neutral version. I did use the NKJV for years but that Bible is falling apart.
@@paperpuddles I just went on a deep dive for you, and I couldn’t find one either! Its so funny because last night I was emailing a friend telling her that “My perfect Bible doesn’t exist!” 😂 if only we can message Bible publishers directly and have them print off our own Bibles!
I have seen where some creators have crafted their own “perfect Bible”. For instance, if you can find a wide margin NLT, with red letter text. Perhaps you could print off your study notes and glue them in! Kind of the way taped some of those images into my Jesus Bible. I also could tape in some study notes!
I know it sounds like a lot of work (it certainly would be!) Just a thought 😊

I think you would love an NIV journaling Bible or even an NLT journaling Bible. Both are easy to read translations with Jesus’ words highlighted 😊

I just love buying a new Bible!! I have so many in my cart for future .. latest one I was able to buy on sale(thank u Father) is the NLT Spiritual Growth study Bible... Highly recommend... It has caused me to spiritually grow literally.. it comes in pink or a beautiful pearlescent taupe..kinda like light gold sheen. It's single colum. Lots of study portions inside. Lays flat. Not hardcover but that pleather flimsy type cover lol. Idk just go look it up!!! ❤❤❤❤. The spiritual growth Bible (NLT) by Christian art publishers. Oh and the passages with extra info is in tan boxes and the words before each passage is tan...so white n tan aesthetic so I use a coffee colored highlighter and a light tan... And possibly forestry mint green pastel color.. and I have clear sticky notes and ordered some taupe color transparent sticky notes ...because I want the aesthetic of it to be simple n clean n warm inviting... Not lots of bright random highlighter colors like in some of my other Bibles .I keeping with the theme of brown, tan, taupe white cream. Yay ❤❤❤❤

Thanks for the info about the Good News Bible. I have been looking for a bible gift to give to one of a young person in my Sunday class. She doesn’t have one in English but would like one. This was such a wonderful video to watch! I really enjoyed your discussion about how you use your Bibles and all of the decorations. Those tabs on the Good News Bible Youth Edition -- did those come with that Bible, or did you buy them and put them on? That Bible would be good for Adults as well. Some of these Children's Bibles are good for Adults. It is true that reading the Bible in various Translations really helps with Bible Studies (as you've shared with us). I've always done that in addition to reading Commentaries and using other Bible Study Tools. I'm looking forward to watching more of your Videos, and I'm wishing you the best when you start Seminary! ❤

I struggle finding good commentaries because I never know what sources to trust because of course, everyone’s interpretations are different. I haven’t been able to deep dive into any yet, do you have any recommendations for me?

@@unholyconfessions ~ I'm glad you responded. Thanks for telling me about the tabs, they are lovely. As for Commentaries, in the past I've used Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible. In the last few years I've used the Tony Evans Commentary, the Baker Illustrated Bible Background Commentary and the Believer's Bible Commentary. I also have the MacArthur Bible Commentary, but I have not used that one lately. I think I have more, but I can't think of them right now 😊. I'm a Bible Collector 🤗📚 Blessings ♥️

I am using the MacArthur Study Bible - NIV. I love it primarily for the quality of the in-depth notes which include historical context, word meanings and cross references. I highly recommend it.
Thank you for sharing this! I’ve been wanting a solid Study Bible but I’m always so cautious on what commentary to trust. I’m very paranoid when it comes to using study bibles just because I want to be sure nothing sways what I believe or influences me to believe the wrong things 😭 I think my mom uses this one! I might need to take a look at hers and see how I like it!

Hello sis. Greetings from Guyana ❤. This year I started to study the bible for the first time.i am using the bible recap new Testament version which is 92 days. For this I am using the She Reads Truth CSB journaling bible for bible study. It is not my favorite translation but that is all I have. I also use the NJKV version on the YouVersion app for reading but I am planning on buying a NKJV hardcopy bible whenever I can afford it just for reading because I absolutely love the NKJV bible and I think that its the best version. Just my personal opinion.
I’m using bible recap as well! The hardest part is just staying on top of it so I don’t get behind lol I also had been looking at the She Reads Truth bible, it is gorgeous! I just wish they would make it in another translation because NKJV is also my favorite translation. Its close enough to the original text, easy to read, and not too watered down. I looove NKJV (I agree its the best translation). Thank you so much for watching, I’ll be sending prayers and love from the States all the way to Guyana ❤️❤️❤️ God bless you!!

Hey! Honestly, I did it using packing tape. I printed off the picture I wanted, cut it into a bookmark shape and taped the front and back to “laminate” it. It was pretty tricky but it turned out ok

I really try to avoid journaling Bibles altogether now, its almost like ptsd! Feeling the obligation to write on every line began to feel so draining and almost more important than the actual Word on the page! @@unholyconfessions , we all need help keeping our mind on the Word. Just because something is good doesn’t mean it is the best. You have your priorities straight. The Word first - pretty stuff afterwards as time allows.
The NKJV reference bible you love I see in lots of your videos. It's so pretty but the link you put in one of ur videos said it's not available anymore 🤔 I tried to find it then and now but cantttt. Do you see it anywhere? I just went on a deep search for you and you’re absolutely right, its gone!!! I actually almost shed a tear 😭 I found one copy left going for $70 but I honestly don’t even think its worth THAT much. (But if you’d like that link let me know!)
I DID however find that Bible with a very similar cover but without the flowers on it, so basically not as beautiful but still very pretty. Here’s the link for that one:

I’m seriously growing an addiction to buying an addiction to buying bibles. In the last 2 months I have purchased 6 bibles. I’m just so fascinated with the difference features, notes, art, and design of the Bible’s. I have the spiritual growth bible, she reads truth, Life ways women’s bible, one step closer bible, ESV journal the world bible, and the courage for life bible. This infatuation comes from watching UA-cam videos on bible journaling and reviews lol. I may need to delete the app 😂😩 6:42
This is exactly how mine started! UA-cam! 😂 So many different beautiful Bibles to choose from, I was like “why not all of them!?” But when I started resisting the Bible videos, I was able to slow down and get my act right! Lol

one bible i really like although pricey was 3:16 publishing Preacher's Bible it is a wide margin on really good non bleed paper. i like my thompsons chain reference too but its not a margin Bible -------------God bless

@@unholyconfessions it's my 1st time with it and I'm loving it! It's an easier read but a few passages I read next fo other translations just to get a full scope. But it makes it *so* relatable in new ways, if not maybe as technically accurate? It's honestly an absolute favorite! It gives room for notes, is wide ruled for my strong spectacled eyeballs, includes some pretty deco quote pages, briefs on historical context and little encouraging bites.
I'm hoping to get Candace Cameron Bure's for Mothers' Day. I've hinted to my kids... 😆

Hi Tammy! Unfortunately they stopped production of that exact one and I HAVE NO IDEA WHY! The editions they have out now don’t seem nearly as nice, and they changed the color of the paper on the newer ones. This is the second Bible from Thomas Nelson that I have scraped the internet looking for another copy of and its like nonexistent now lol! I’m praying they re-release it or something similar. I’m so sorry! Thank you for watching 😊❤️
