    Great video and comparison. Vary detailed. And unlike others I appreciate the demonstration of how flimsy the import kits are. I almost bought one....extremely glad I saw this first.

    When I get the money I'll be purchasing from you for sure. I'll be honest Everyone up here in Wisconsin seems to run beaver tail or go devil. I can tell your product can handle more abuse and has a lot of R&D put into the design. Good product! Keep it up.

    backwater mud motors are the best on the market, best looking, longest lasting, unit there is. I bought a 13 hp v-twin unit and love the performance and quality. the guys at backwater provide unmatched service.

    A shorter shaft also means more torque from the engine to the prop too. If you're trying to get through a bunch of vegetation, that is important that you have plenty of torque.

    Have sps with 200 Honda good reliable rig. Is backwater better? Maybe would love to see side by side comparison on same boat with same power head. To get backwater to Canada would be about 3 times price of sps. Think this video of comparing worst mud motor to most expensive is just stupid. If backwater is so good compare to sps!

Tranche, my father said it will fit on both tranche, I told him it wouldn’t work and he said it will. Will you send some thing to tell him what will fit the 20in tranche. Comparing all import kits to the Backwater is not really fair. You should name the import kit you are showing. Thai companies CLP and SPS both make good products meant for simplicity of repair in a very poor part of the world. I have seen the SPS and CLP kits and they are very nice and feature most of the items the Backwater show here. The Thai and Vietnamese have been using these since around the 1950s so let's not dicount their products just cause it's not Merican Made.

    The motor he compares to is not a motor for weeds and mud. It is a motor for transportation. He should have at least compared it to an sps or cks kit. No doubt though the backwater is a great kit.

      If you can't afford the Backwater kit, then you can't afford it and will have to go with the import. This video shows the weak points in the import's design and might let you spend the extra time and money to correct them....where they can be corrected....before they strand you out in the marsh. You've heard the old "pay me now or pay me later" saw?? Well, that's surely applicable here.

    SPS Swamp Runner,.. the originator
    Get the original from day one and have no regrets,..
    So funny to see domestic manufacturers copy/ clone the SPS then take stabs at the original design,..
    No one makes a tougher no nonsense longtail than SPS,.. and SPS is a fraction of the price.
    I'll take the SPS, you guys can all have your "improved" varieties.
    How many of the Backwater kits are running around southeast Asia?,.. can you name even one example? Mmmmmm i wonder why?

    You have a better kit. You are in a tough market trying to compete with a Chinese price on a product that is low cost driven to start with. I thought the prop in the rocks was stupid. If you take a mower and run over a brick you'll need a blade. People running rocks run pitch forks. Yours will tear up just like the aluminum if you act stupid. There is a market for both kits. You don't make your light shine brighter by putting someone else's out. Good luck, but that's poor marketing.

    • @BackwaterProductions
      @BackwaterProductions  6 років тому +5

      David, we appreciate the comment and agree one shouldn't tear others down just to make themselves look better. That is not why we made this video. Inexpensive kits do have their place, but lots of people don't realize how much difference there is between them and what we build.
      Yes, nothing is indestructible, and we don't recommend running rocks if you can help it. However, we do want to show people in the market for a motor that they can expect significantly better durability and performance from our units so they can make an informed decision about which way to go. Thank you for your sincere input and have a great weekend.

    Hello. I understand you design is classified as a "Mud Motor" I do not know if you read comments any more. last comment here was 3 yrs ago. But I just saw this video and liked it. What is called a "Thai Longtail" is not a Mud Motor. Only water over 3 meters deep and no obstacles. I agree you found the worse copy of a Thai longtail kit ever made to show the flaws. TRUTH HERE OK -- Thailand did not Invent the LONG TAIL --Chinese Invented the LONG TAIL . Research that if you wish. I have no engineering degree -- But I Engineer and Build many things that never excisted in the the Agricultural Arena. Including Aquaculture and Flooded rice fields. Your backwater products are durable and handle tough conditions. I make that point know. But in your comparison and Telling the GREAT POINTS OF BACKWATERS DESIGN YOU DONT EVEN REALIZE YOU ARE ADMITTING YOUR HYDRAULIC -HYDRODYNAMIC DESIGN IS TOTALLY FLAWED- But you compare FLAWED Design to Cheaper FLAWED Design. YOU STATE THE GREAT STRENGHT AND ADJUSTABILITY OF YOUR are you ready ? CAVITATION PLATE !! Almost all humans dont know what Cavitation is. CAVITATION IS VERY BAD IN HYDRODYNAMICS HYDRAULICS AND AERODYNAMICS !! - Yes AIR IS A FLUID ! IT CONTAINS MOISTURE -WATER-Its called Humidity ! That being said and true--Any hydrodynamic propulsion system design that requires a ANTI CAVITATION PLATE (tell the truth what your design is. Its to Stop Cavitation Correct? Not make it !! NAME IT CORRECTLY PLEASE !! ANTI CAVITATION PLATE !!!!! Big difference. Your Design REQUIRES AN ANTI CAVITATION PLATE SURROUNDING PART OF THE WATER FLOW AROUND THE PROPELLER TO REDUCE CAVITATION-CAVITATION IS BAD !! You are Truthfully stating your design needs a CAvitation Plate to work correctly !! ADMITTING YOUR FINAL DRIVE HAS CAVITATION PROBLEMS THAT YOU ATTEMT TO REDUCE USING A CAVITATION PLATE !! IF YOUR ENGINEERING AND DESIGN OF YOUR FINAL DRIVE IS CORRECT YOU DO NOT NEED AN ANTI CAVITATION PLATE AS CORRECT HYDRODYNAMIC PROPULSION DESIGN DOES NOT HAVE CAVITATION AND NO NEED FOR ANTI CAVITATION PLATE ! YOU ARE BLATANTLY TAKEING YOUR DESIGN FLAW AND SELLING TO UNKNOWING CUSTOMERS THAT THE "CAVITATION PLATE" IS A BONUS OF QUALITY !! WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY ACKNOWLEDGING YOUR OWN DESIGN FLAWS !! Only Stating TRUTH !! Go Research CAVITATION --IT IS ALWAYS BAD !!! Please STOP FALSE ADVERTISING TO UNKNOWING HUMANS !! Solid Build Quality. But Bad Also : )

  • @ronnie918644
    @ronnie918644 3 роки тому +1

    YOU SHOULD NEVER NEED ANY PLATE OVER THE PROPELLER- YOURS IS AN ANTI CAVITATION PLATE_NOT CAVITATION PLATE !! CAVITATION IN FLUID IS VERY VERY VERY BAD !! YOUR DESIGN HAS MUCH CAVITATION AT THE PROPELLER SO YOU TRY REDUCE THE BAD WITH A ANTI CAVITATION PLATE !! HYDRODYNAMICS AND HYDRAULICS !! NEEDING THAT PLATE IS BAD NOT GOOD !!! STOP MISLEADING VIEWERS !!!!
