There is a comment that says to skip if you have one life, but I can see that people also do no skips, so that could be a problem
If the level clear requirements are anything like MM1 (dont have 2) theres prob a way to clear it without the use of checkpoints that the maker of the course did

Hardly anyone is good enough to do long runs of 1 life no skip. Lets be honest. I see the completion rates on levels. Most people suck at Mario.

I love how Mario escapes hell and, instead of a dark ending, he gets a continue.
This reminds me of the Underwhere, where video game characters go when their games are over. This might be a slight reference to the Underwhere.

Kizuato Akuma No, it’s a dev exit:
In the room with the false flagpole jump, at 479 on the timer, a hidden block will pass over the patch of grass near the steps. Jump at the right time and you’ll get a spring. On the highest mushroom platform, at roughly 469 on the timer, a hidden block with a bob-omb will pass over about 1 block to the left of the platform. Use the bob-omb to break the blocks to the left of the door, and then another door (dev exit) will appear. Enter it and you will skip the entire banzai bill section.

I honestly find this one of the few levels that deserve the Dev-Exit.

No way, this is very creative, it’s something not many people would have thought of
SMM Flo I agree that the actual level design is "just" solid. However, the idea is very creative and surprising (showing us what happens after a game over and how Mario must earn a new continue). That why I made the showcase in the first place.

To hell and then back, this journey was. Mario descending into the fiery damnation of an underworld like that would suggest his soul was fighting to get back out, _it_ dying would mean he's finished.

Isn't this level actually 1-1, but a castle-themed one? This level also makes you feel like you're in the underworld.

So every time mario gets a game over his lives, he is punished by going to hell. Then in order to get out, he has to go through a demonic version of W1-1 and a brigade of enemies that defend the pipe back to earth so he can continue the game?
Now I feel bad.
What I'm more curious about is how he does make the sound effects last so long. Aren't they supposed to disappears once too far away? The "Scary" sound effect happens when you fall at the CP but last until you get to the pipe so much further away..

I've done a "die at least once" level before, and I can confirm this. However, I feel it's common courtesy to at least make it to the Checkpoint when doing a Clear Check.
New title: Mario dies and goes to hell, then escapes.
It reminds me of the Divine Comedy. Mario went to Hell, Heaven, and back to Earth in one level.
