Overdone joke, but still relevant: Reiner: No one can know we have titan powers. Marco must die! Also Reiner: Oh hey Eren btw I'm the armored titan and he's the colossal titan
I prefer the meme about Marco: what do u mean by "my titan" reiner? Reiner: *sweating, not knowing which button to press between "say youre talking about your d//ck" and "just kill him"*
When Goodwin makes an accurate prediction Goodwin: I swear I wasnt spoiled nor read the manga Reiner: No Goodwin... the problem is you’re too damn sharp
Watching it a second just shows you how much of a genius Iseyama is, every twist and turn was planned from day one and its so interesting seeing all of the forshadowing that meant nothing to us the first time.
Marcos death scene was really herartbreaking but i think that it was so well written. Seeing Annie wo acts always tough crying and reiner cracking into Kind of two personalities because he himself couldnt stand the cruelty of his Actions. At this Moment you see him splitting into his warrior and soldier persona.
I guess going nuke right there would have resulted in killing Reiner, Eren and Ymir, let alone destroying that section of the wall and exposing the titans inside to sunlight.
I'm so dumb, I didn't realise that he was holding back, I just thought that they changed the way he transformed for a deus ex machina, man, sometimes my brain really doesn't connect any dots
He was definitely holding back. In Descent, he transformed almost instantly into full form, causing the nuke explosion. In Warrior, he assembled himself slowly, and even then, not even in complete form. Exposed ribs, half body, just enough to function optimally for the situation at hand.
call back to when they were picking up the bodies in the aftermath of this moment, they show Annie apologising to a Dead Marco and Reiner comes in saying there's no point apologising to the dead or something
Bertholdt is very underrated, he is one of the best characters imo and this episode with Bertholdt's monologue before transforming while the music is playing, is one of the best moments in the series, his charecter development is impressive
Marco's death was so disturbing and honestly the most difficult to watch because of how much build up there was for him like one of those pendulum axe executions (idk if that analogy makes any sense). Like death was just approaching him in front of his eyes and all he could do was watch it happen. "Did Hange just die?" "Ya' know, it was really unclear." I caught that but also ansdndfkjhalsdkjfhadlkjfNOTHANGE
I'm tired of people underestimating my husbando Berutoto !! I'm glad you recognize his talent, Goodwin. Everyone forgets that Bert was in the top 5 of the top 10 cadets for a reason!
I never cried watching this show until this episode, seeing how Marco died. He really was the goodest boy and they did him so dirty. Like, of all the people. Marco. And rewatching made me appreciate his character more, knowing how he was going to go out. He was the truest friend, with his solid optimism and unyielding support. And they just let him get eaten alive. UGH it still hurts to see 😭 Not to mention it's basically just children murdering other children.
Descent is such a good episode, only overshadowed by the fact that the next few episodes are much, much better than it. Descent holds a special place in my heart for spoiler reasons, but your analysis about the warrior duo probably means you'll appreciate Descent after the next few episodes, and in S4.
The next 3 episodes (16, 17 e 18) are the best in the whole series! It's impossible not watch them one after the other. Get ready!!! The 17, especially, is breath away from start to finish!
My favorite part of this episode is when Marco is pleading with Annie and just the way they drew her horrified look. It really drove home a lot of emotions.
Heck yeah, this is the episode I’ve been so excited for you to see, always has been one of my favourites honestly. Great reaction and analysis as always! Also, lmfao the “shoulder pat”
Remember back in episode three when they did character introductions? Shadis pointed out that Bertholdt had tons of talent and he would be dangerous if he wasn't so timid? Yeah....we finally got to see what Shadis saw. To land a kick on Mikasa means you are FIERCE.
This might be when the arc became my favorite in the show. Seeing Bertholdt be a confident capable badass after seeing him be so timid and reserved for so long is so satisfying. Also concerning the Teen Titans’ actions, I think it's important to remember what Reiner & Bertholdt said back in S2, when they both kinda expressed that they regretted killing all those people. So while the Marco situation was cruel and hard to watch, I think their justification to themselves is that they would've killed all those people for nothing if they'd let Marco live. If he'd jeopardized the mission, then all those people would've died in vain
I went through all five stages of grief regarding Reiner and then added a sixth one: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance, picking him as my favorite character. Zero regrets.
I'm really enjoying your reactions. You seem very intelligent, perceptive and emotionally mature. Can't wait to see your reaction to "the big reveal" and s4. Reiner is my favourite character.
“No one is in the wrong here... There is nothing to be done... Because this world...is just...that cruel.” One of my favorite lines in the whole show, Bertholdt is such an underrated character.
A good comparison could be made when big nations obligated some people to fight against other people of other nations, even if they don't want it. Is not like no one is wrong, is like everyone is wrong and right at the same time for different reasons.
Marco's ODM gear was how they found out Annie was the Female Titan. She presented his gear when they were being investigated for who killed Sawney and Bean, Armin noticed it.
I'd say it definitely cracked Reiner with the fact that he basically has two different personas so that he doesn't have to come to terms with it. He doesn't have to terms with the fact that he's lying to these people about being their friend and being on their side because he has a persona who legitimately is their friend and on their side. Reiner is definitely too good which is why his psyche couldnt handle the weight of what he had done and created this split.
Honestly, the mystery of not knowing what's really going on in this world is the best thing about this manga/anime. After you learn it, and you will at some point, it's still really really fun, but it will never reach that same height of mystery again.
i love your reactions because they seem unique, well though-out and genuine. i totally felt your disappointment in reinholt, i was stunned the first time i saw how they killed marco (i totally forgot about him as a character). keep up the great content!
Goodwin when Reiner and Bert (who have caused the deaths of literally hundreds of thousands of people and have completely betrayed the trust of everyone,) kidnap Eren and are down to kill anyone who tries to stop them: "Wow why is Mikasa so dark and violent?" Goodwin when Bert tells Armin that there's no chance of them talking things out, that he's going to kill them all, and it definitely looks like he feels like he needs to start with Armin: "Damn, Mikasa is just always forcing the violence" I love your reactions and I like those characters too but broooo lmaooo
The soundtrack at the end of the episode 💃 And the truth about Marco's death was one of the saddest moments for me. And Reiner's goofy ass "why is Marco getting eaten" when he said that I was like wow he has 2 different identities. gotta build that character :)
11:50 - 12:07 Steady we ride silhouette flying over the grass. As the daylight now dies our stallions breathing their last duty chains us our demon haunt us. Fighting for seeds of our crown Death by sundown!
