    How did the Ga beacame Ga2 in carnatic arohan and avarohan? Can you please explain how?

      Carnatic uses a 16 note system compared to the 12 note system of Hindustani. In Carnatic there are 3 - R,G,D and N. G1 according to Carnatic is the same position as R2 but is sung with some microtonal Gamakas. This comes in handy to create ragas that have both the R but the second R is sung as a Ga with microtones. Classic example is Raga Kanakangi which will sound like the main melody of the Kantara song. So G2 in Carnatic is equivalent to G1 of Hindustani.

    Durga
    Bhupali
    Megh or Madhmad Sarang
