Well, she beat a player ranked 40 or so positions below her who is about ready to retire at age 33. Not much to really crow about. Venus was given a mercy draw wild card slot. Out she went in the second round. On to the US Open for the same show.

I grew up watching her and serena play against each other in almost every finals. This brings me back to when I was a 10 or so. So beautiful and inspiring!
This is the normally the match venus loses if she drops the second set. But she got through it.

It took a year to win one match after Lexington. I think she should not have parted with David Witt. He was the best for her.
No, she won 1st round match at Aus open this year too. I am not sure if parting with David was the key reason. For me, injuries and age take a toll on her. She cannot move as well as she used to. And movement is always Vee’s weapon
@@peerlessvinh Don't take me wrong. I love Vee. But the game and technique changes made her game worse. And it makes me sad she loses matches she otherwise never lost.

Shes moving way2 better than shes moving throughout the whole clay court season. But if she wants to win this, she needs to move a lot better still. She did a lot of errors, due to her movement in this match. Her feet wasnt moving fast enough. I hope she will get better as she progress.

She has a lot of injuries going on. Ankle, knee and a chronic elbow injury that sometimes hinders her.
