    11:26 The carb vent lines are not there to allow the tank to drain fuel into the carb, the engine is running and therefore removing fuel from the float bowl, this means that the tank can replenish the consumed fuel without the need for vent lines, after all fuel is replaced with fuel, not air. The lines are there so that atmospheric pressure is 'delivered' to the float bowl, this means that you have a pressure difference between the carb's venturi and the float bowl, this pressure difference pushes fuel up the emulsion tube, past the needle jet and into the air stream running through the venturi. If the vents get blocked or are under water for a split second then atmospheric pressure in the float bowl is lost, no fuel will enter the air stream and the engine will quit running. (You will end up with wet feet!). The reason that there are four tubes is to ensure that at least one is not blocked and the fact that they exit the carb at 90 degrees to each other has something to do with when the bike is landing from jumps. I extended the two that Irun up under the tank so that I could run them down the front frame tube for a few inches, the ends point downwards. When they are left just pointing forward it is possible when jet washing the bike to force water down them, it ends up in the float bowl which causes problems!

      Jetting can help. Mainly the needle if everything else is solid. Might try the Suzuki needle NECJ

      I have a 17 250 xc. Lower compression rk dome helped. Lectron also smoothed out the delivery. Also that ignition map is very aggressive. The xc has a more lazy curve

    The ribs on the inside create more surface area which helps with cooling. Would have been nice to know the size of those base gaskets in metric... could you just grab your vernier and check?

      I could have but they are installed now.

      The ridges are supposed to create more turbulence in the combustion chamber, assuming that you are not referring to the ridges on the outside of the 'head insert, i.e. the ones in the coolant area', Somender Singh patented the design years ago. The patent has lapsed, probably because in reality they do very little, if not nothing at all... patents.google.com/patent/US6237579B1/en

    I have a 2021 gasgas ex300. I was considering upgrading the head and or the ecu. Would recommend just the head from RK TEK or the other options i've noticed is the TSP package with both the head and reflashing of the ecu. Also Coober makes an ECU replacement, which is in Austria next to the KTM factory?

    You didn't get round to explain the differences between the RkTek , TSP and S3 ?

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  2 роки тому +2

      Sorry. The big difference is that the TSP and S3 are really just higher compression heads where the RK Tek is higher compression and a better shape.
