Banks never ask you to move your funds. Especially when the account is held by another bank. When you get text messages like that always call the bank using the phone number on the website. It is not the bank’s responsibility - you have to be vigilant.

Screw the banks. They should be doing more. I understand there's a difference between being conned and being vigilant' it shouldn't have happened of course. All the same a horrible story.

i just cant believe people think fraud dept will ask u to move money....they seem young i would think an elderly couple would fall for this...Just call your bank if u see a text .
I get these texts 4 times a month telling me to click on a link...I know its a scam...for every 100 people they get 2...People need to learn from this couple

I am old school, I don't bank online, I know the people at my physical bank, and I always call the bank or go in person . It's better than getting scammed. I also know my bank only asks my name and birthday...no address or password

Any COLD CALLS or texts or anything, you directly contact your bank!, never use the information they provide! Banks do not cold call, the scammers prey on you believing them as they have good details.. your details are available everywhere!

Why didn't they just call the bank number on the official website or on the back of their cards?

For the life of me, I cannot see why your bank would be texting you in the first place. My bank has NEVER texted me.
