    Dude that was nicely played. The farthest ive gone with sephiroth was his last 3 bars of health at level 1 critical mode ;-;. Anyways Good job bro and keep up the good work. :D

      +Rick Natake Thank you :) And yeah he gets insanely more difficult to predict once that happens so I completely understand! Occasionally I'd just let him hit me up in the air, 'cause then I could just use square to counter attack him once he reappears and get a full combo on him :)

    Nothing but respect, Bro! I'm just finishing up my lvl 1 CM (Kingdom Key) run. It's punishing, but fun as hell when you get those near perfect fights amiright??

      Dang! I don't know if I could do a Kingdom Key run haha I feel like I'd get a little too frustrated xD But yeah it does get hecka fun when you feel really skilled but also challenged at the same time :)

      +R.x.b.y It's all patience and a state of zen lol I swear I didn't panic at all during the fight and that helped me think straight and react fast! But yeah if I recall I think I had to record this 30 times before I got it! He's very unpredictable, and there were quite a few close calls in this video too! One mess up and you're dead unless you're very, VERY lucky!

    I like Dodge Slash as an ability in general, but in a level 1 run - especially against an uber boss like Sephy - probably best to leave it off. Overall, a combination of Flash Step and Sliding Dash deals more ground hits leading to more damage with Guard Break. Using Counterguard to start your combo really close in is a good strategy for increasing the hit rate of Dodge Slash's first attack. Good job there. This challenge is so much more manageable in the original KH2FM. 2.5 being on Blu-Ray fucks up forms. A real shame SE couldn't/didn't do anything about that.

      @briann2911  8 років тому

      +gagejoseph91 Haha wish I woulda known that before I tried to beat him haha but I mean it worked, but I guess not as well as what you're saying d: And yeah if it wasn't for Counterguard, this would be nearly impossible for me! And I was originally going to try not to use forms, but since I didn't have any elixer on hand, I had to use a drive form to do pretty much the same thing, but yeah I didn't know that happened in 2.5 :/ I don't really use the drive forms all that much other than to level up the abilities like high jump and glide, so I probably wouldn't complain too much about it :/ But yeah I'm definitely not a pro as far as fighting strategies! Usually I just do something if it works for me :)

      Brian Noel I'm actually surprised you didnt use Dodge Jump/Glide to knock him out of using Sin Harvest. In fact, I didn't see you use Glide at all. Did you just not have it for some reason? Seemed like a strange choice to not use such a useful ability.
      Counterguard is amazing. Never underestimate the brokenness of some of Sora's defensive traits lol Reflect is love. Reflect is life.
      Since 2.5 is a Blu Ray disc, load times are a bit longer than the original. That means that when you use a form, you're stuck in that "transforming position" for a few more seconds while the form loads. You're invincible, but it throws off your timing since the "blast" that comes out of the transformation is meant to knock an opponent up and allow you to continue attacking right from transforming. Can't do that in 2.5 unless you use "pause buffering", which works just fine, but pausing the game mid-fight just feels weird.
      I'm the same with forms. I don't really use them all too much in general, other than to get their growth abilities and level up rewards. Normal Sora is really well balanced without using forms. Bosses just work so much better with him most of the time, with the exception of some Org13 battles and abusing Wisdom Firaga. The only real exception is Limit form because...well, come on, the thing is fucking broken as hell. It is a form DESIGNED to utterly destroy bosses.

    • @briann2911
      @briann2911  8 років тому

      +gagejoseph91 I had no idea you could do that lol every time I tried in the past it didn't work so I tried a limit one time and it did! And yeah I got glide, but I didn't really find it useful for this battle and I found it kinda hard to use for whatever reason :/
      And I swear that the level 1 run has helped me appreciate ALL of Sora's abilities! I've never really used limits before, and magic I hardly ever use, but YES reflect is bae haha
      You'd think they'd make a patch to load the drive forms into memory so they don't have to run right off the disk :/ Well at least there's a workaround :)
      Forms I kinda stopped using mostly cause it's kinda hard to see your enemies when all your fancy keyblade moves are making it difficult to see past Sora lol Not to mention that the combos tend to be too long to use on bosses before they're just like "STOP THAT" and start attacking you again haha
      To be honest I haven't really used limit form just cause I'm so used to the english version of Kingdom Hearts 2 that I just don't want to take the time to get used to it, especially when I die every 5 seconds when I try something new d:

      Brian Noel If you use Dodge Jump and go right into Glide, you'll begin gliding at max speed. If you jump, double jump, and just tap Glide, you'll still get a decent amount of distance. Pair that with high jump and you'll be able to hit Sephy while he is preparing Sin Harvest and knock him out of it. I'm pretty sure you need to have High Jump maxed out to have the required height to reach him. Trinity is good for interrupting him because it homes in, but sacrifices all your MP. If (...when lol) you go through the game again, keep that in mind. Glide is also useful for avoiding Meteor. Just glide in wide circles around the area.
      Sora is an OP character in general lol Standard runs don't give you much of an opportunity to appreciate just how wicked he is. Critical runs give you far more opportunity to use everything at your disposal. Level 1 runs force you to have a new appreciation for just how deep that rabbit hole goes. KH2FM is an example of an EXTREMELY well-balanced game. I was never much of a limit person, but I always made good use of magic. Magnega + Thundaga = FUCK EVERYTHING.
      Bosses have revenge values. I CANNOT overstate the usefulness of Negative Combo. It seems counter-intuitive to REDUCE the length of your combo, but believe you me, it makes a HYOOJ difference. Finishing moves in KH2 are aptly named. They deal TONS of damage compared to the collective damage your prior normal attacks deal. Even if your combo is 6 phases long including 2 finishers, each finisher is going to take up about 40% of your overall damage dealt in the whole combo. Of course, percentages are relative. If you only use a single finisher, then that finisher will deal closer to 60% of the damage dealt by the whole combo. For the most part, normal attacks are meant to be somewhat weak, but act to power up your finishers based on how many hits you did leading up to them. Because of abilities like Combo Boost, longer combos make your finishers even stronger since your normal attacks deal negligible damage. In a lot of cases, it is honestly better to just have 1 hit lead into a finisher. Specifically Guard Break. It sends the boss straight up into the air. If you DO NOT use another finisher, you can start a new combo as soon as the boss touches the ground again. You can usually loop this 3, maybe 4 times before the boss revenge-values. This means you can get 3 "full combos" before the boss can react.
      To be fair, a level 1 critical run is NOT the prime mode to be playing for trying out new mechanics XD People normally do level 1 runs after they've gotten a firm grasp on everything the game has to offer, used as an extra challenge to put their knowledge to the test. When you're playing a mode you're MEANT to be frail in, it isn't a good way to get acquainted with a whole new form. I suggest doing a normal Critical run with normal leveling and use that file to get used to Limit form. Seriously, man, Limit form is a goddamn juggernaut. I adore Final form, but Limit form puts Final to SHAME in boss fights. It's strength and usefulness simply cannot be overstated. Get used to this form. You'll be VERY glad you did. I played the original KH2 more times than I can count, so using Limit felt weird to me, too, but when I got used to it, it became the best bro a bro could ask for.

      Actually in kh1 you can easily loop him and make him predictable. Every time you combo him you hit him 4 times to force him to counter and strike raid immediately. Last phase you can keep looping him to do heartless angle if he decides to keep countering with it

      You can tell that he is by the Japanese letters in the beginning and the limit form transformation being way faster than it is in 2.5.

      +Noctis Lucis Caelum Yeah I did, but I didn't use save-states 'cause I think that's cheating, and kinda detracts from the fun of the challenge d:

      Noctis Lucis Caelum Since I'm in Windows 10, all I have to do is hit Window Key+G to open up the gaming panel, or hit Window Key+Alt+R to start recording a video and it already had my audio set up. Are you using another application to record?

      Brian Noel True, but I mean like his first phase, I triggered his revenge every time.

    • @briann2911
      @briann2911  8 років тому

      +MaskBladeProductions yeah that usually happens to me too, but doing things like staying close to him will keep him from doing that for at least the beginning part of the match where it's predictable, or letting him hit you up and counterattacking once he reappears will sometimes prevent him from using his revenge.

    I am doing a level 1 critical run but, I got stuck at timeless river. The cars that attack you while you have to protect the burning house keep murdering me :(. Any tips?

      +Paladin Joe That's where I got stuck the longest too. Limits are your friend, and you may want to stock a few ethers or elixers and use reflect/reflera/reflega to defeat the cars, but yeah I understand your frustration :/

    • @briann2911
      @briann2911  8 років тому

      +ChrownZ The second phase is mostly just waiting until the perfect time to block and locking on and blocking if he doesn't pop out of nowhere, but also avoiding his Firaga walls. Honestly trial and error seems to be the best way to learn :/

      @nagitona4941 8 років тому

      Any tips?

    • @briann2911
      @briann2911  8 років тому

      +Nagitona Have some elixers handy in case he uses the move where he gets rid of your magic and your HP 'cause reflect saves your life and it's nearly impossible to dodge his dark spheres unless you have MP left! Other than that, stay close to the walls and keep your distance and once he starts swinging his sword, make sure that you're far enough away, otherwise he'll kill you from behind even if you're guarding! I know that if you can get your timing right, when he has his firaga walls up and you have enough MP, you can use reflect while in the fire to damage Sephiroth, but it's a little risky, and I prefer to save my reflect for situations where I would otherwise actually need it! Also, if he hits you up in the air, if you wait until he pops up again to slash you, and right before he does, press square to counterattack him, you can get a full combo on him without taking too much damage! Hope that all helps!

      +Brian Noel Dodge Slash has a nasty part time habit of dropping combos, plus if your enemy finds a way out of the combo, you'll get caught and punished for it by your enemy. You're lucky it didn't drop in this fight!
