Just Got My China Made Car Hoist / Auto Lift My First Thoughts Review!

  • So I got my L1100 Chinese car hoist / lift and here is my initial review. The steel thickness is comparable to higher priced Bendpak, rotary, etc.. and the shipping weight is around 1500 lbs. Other china made lifts rated at 10,000 lbs only weigh 1300 lbs and use thinner steel , so you need to get all specs to compare them. The lift did come scratched and chipped, but for a savings of over $1500 , I can get some implement paint to match. Now I will do a follow up video after it is assembled to give my final review on it, but I am happy with the quality of steel and lift so far! Now hopefully it works....

    I just installed a AutoLift 9000 lb Chinese lift and the one column was scratched up a bit. My measurements were pretty good ... height was 142.9 and width 138 inches. Paid 1700.00 ... Looks to be pretty good quality but I guess time will tell.

    Rotary Lifts are best quality. I searched FB market place and found a 10k lift well cared for lift for about the same price. The steel and welds are crazy heavy duty and it fit perfectly in my 12 foot ceiling. It is 25 years old and still has many years to live.

      The older lifts and basically any older tool were made to last. Any newer items are just throwaways as they aren't built to last. The lifts at auction around me go for over 2K plus for ones that were in repair shops. Good score

    I have a small two bay repair shop. I had the same problem with a 12K lift I ordered. Suppose to be lower than it really was. However I was not able to drill holes to adjust for the 2 inches needed as modifying the lift in that way would void its certification for commercial use. Sent it back and had to get a different one that did fit. Might be something to consider if getting one for commercial or public use.

      I bought mine from eBay and this is a L1100 . main thing is to look at the different thickness of metal they use for carriage . main frame and arms and compare that to a bendpak. The main hydraulic pump& motor are all china made

    • @JasonYouTube
      @JasonYouTube  4 роки тому +2

      It wouldn't , anyways you would want a 14K lift for that. Never want to push it to the max. Will a 1500 pull a skidsteer? Yes it will , but you would feel more comfortable with a HD2500 or a 3500. Always best to undershoot weight limits

      Rated for 10k means lifting 10k all day long unless it's junk. They actually test them to 1.5x that rating. I'm willing to bet your's won't lift anything close to 10.

    • @JasonYouTube
      @JasonYouTube  4 роки тому +1

      @@helichief The steel is the same thickness as major brands, the hydraulic pumps are same, but they probably used smaller rams on this one. I knew I wasn't going to lift anything over a 1/2 ton truck so it works for me. There are others rated for 10K that have thinner steel then this one , so like anything, you need to compare specs of steel thickness . Chinese steel is weaker then American made steel, but most major brands are made in china with chinese steel so you need to compare the thickness specs of arms, carriage, columns and base plates

    Buy the branded china lift use by the local chinese and you would not see this kind of issue.

  • @tonymontana897

    I just don't trust the Chinese to make anything of reputable quality. Their steel is also questionable. The finish is always poor quality too. It just doesn't have that wow factor as the name brands do.
    I hope it serves you well man. Just my thoughts.

    • @JasonYouTube
      @JasonYouTube  2 роки тому

      Well the name brands are also made in China ( Bendpak) unless you get an older used lift or buy like a Rotary or Mohawk , but then your paying 2x-3x the price of this one. You can find a decent chinese lift , but you need to compare all the specs. For commercial, this wouldn't work but for homeowner ones this work. Think about the floor jacks that you use to lift your car or the jack stands , those are all made in China with Chinese steel. I agree with you that the Chinese steel is questionable and it is softer then USA steel, as I have drilled through USA and Chinese steel. Luckily this one is harder steel , but others probably use the softer steel. I would buy American if they would take less profit for their CEOs and make American made items more affordable. It will change in the future when the Chinese start wanting what the USA has, then USA manufacturing will return. Anyways , Thanks for the comment and watching!

    What were the steel thicknesses on this lift and bendpaks? I’m looking at buying a Chinese lift and I want something to compare to

    • @JasonYouTube
      @JasonYouTube  3 роки тому

      Basically you need to compare all.the thickness specs from carriage assembly to floor plate on the ones your looking at. If the china one doesn't list it then pass on it and find one that lists each part. Compare it to a bendpak in same weight capacity. One 10k lift can have 1/8 steel difference then another 10k , thats why you need to compare side by side with each part

    Everything is made in China. It's fine IF it confirms to the Companies standards. Hell Milwaukee cordless tools are made where???? Yep, China BUT they are the BEST PERIOD. Its ALL about the companies standards...

    • @JasonYouTube
      @JasonYouTube  3 роки тому

      Ya you just have to compare the specs between the china products. Now if it was an American made lift VS China, the American made one will hands down win. Chinese steel is " Softer" . I used a cheap Irwin countersink bit on some china steel and it worked great , tried it on some local American steel, and it burnt up in 1 second! Carbon content , etc.. is less in China products. Everyone that buys these lifts tries to justify it but they aren't rated or certified. Have you put a full size diesel truck on it or anything close to 10k?

    • @JasonYouTube
      @JasonYouTube  4 роки тому

      Nope just my 1/2 ton , but I did compare all specs of steel thickness with the rated Bendpaks and specs were the same. If Bendpaks were made in USA then the steel is better but it is the same chinese steel as any lifts out there.

      @@JasonUA-cam I really would like to know if it can lift a full size diesel truck if you know anyone that can let you test it out? Say something around 8500 lbs. I think that would be really helpful to everyone watching your review. Most people buy it for 10k want it to lift that much.

      I did research on it and it had the same thickness steel as any brand name lift. The specs were the same , and most name brand lifts are made in china with their chinese steel!. That is the key, to check steel thickness of carriage assembly, post thickness, arm thickness, etc.. as others rated the same had thinner metal. I lifted my Sierra 1500 4X4 so around 6k lbs with no trouble. I wouldn't lift anything close to 8-9K lbs though , just wouldn't feel safe enough! Thanks for reply
