This scene speaks so much. Zero has been hurt so many times in his life that the thought of letting someone in scares the hell out of him. I understand this feeling completely. I can relate to Zero in having a hard time letting someone in. When he finally says I love you, you can tell how hard it is for him to say it. Just saying I love you puts his guard down and makes him vulnerable which is something that scares him. So when Jude says it back, he feels like he's finally been accepted and that someone can actually love him. Jude on the other hand also has trust issues, but he expresses in a different way. He seeks companionship because he lacked it through out his life, from his father. He doesn't shut down like Zero because having a family and someone close to him is more important to him than trying to hide that. He wants a relationship from Zero because wants someone to want him back, which is why he keeps trying with him. This is why they're perfect for each other. They both understand what it's like the be left alone and blame themselves for it. They also balance out each other personalities. Jude who can be more needy in companionship, while Zero isn't as much. Jude helps Zero understand that it's okay to be loved while Zero balances out Jude's personality. This is one of the best well developed couples I've seen on television.

I love these 2 so magical on screen. I hated that Zero was not in season 4 their story line was just kinda done. No closure for the fans made me sad.. I would love to see a reunion or spin off of them.....
Actually they do have closure cause James Larosa posted on instagram the scripts he wrote that would have happen in season 5 if the show would have been pick up and it included Zero proposing to Jude on the court after they get back together and later on they have a daugther that they name Hope. Btw Lionel is the surrogate mother.
It's their thing lol. Just like how Jude calls him by his real name sometimes which is Gideon lol. They are the only ones that can call one and the other by those and no one else can.
