Harrowing yet empathic, Hulu’s “Under the Bridge” is based on Rebecca Godfrey’s book of the same title about the 1997 murder of Reena Virk, a 14-year old Canadian girl who was beaten and killed by her fellow teenagers.
Vritika Gupta embodies Reena in the eight-episode series that also stars Lily Gladstone as local police officer Cam Bentland and Riley Keough as the author Rebecca Godfrey.
I spent some time with Vritika and her co-star, Aiyana Goodfellow (Dusty Pace), to talk about their interest in making the show, its message, and what they hoped for viewers to get after watching “Under the Bridge.”

I feel like the interviewer doesn’t know that this was a real case, lol. What’s with his energy, he’s so off putting based on how serious this very real event is…
Yea he acts like it’s not a true crime case and , he is siting in front of a poster which says ‘True Crime ‘ Lol!
Agree his energy is ‘off ‘ and very disrespectful to Reena and her parents . Her mum passed away in 2018 but imagine if her dad was watching the guy in this vid . Awful!

Yes of course . People say The real dusty is Missy Grace Pleich . And the real Josephine is Nicole Cook .
The real Dusty people say , is Missy Grace Pleich . In an interview Pleich said that Reena slept with her boyfriend . I doubt that very much . Reena had self esteem issues , the fact that she was hairy etc , I doubt that she would have slept with a boy . I believe Pleich wants to justify that she pretended to be Reena’s friend and lured her into a trap. So she puts the blame on Reena instead of accepting blame . She has no remorse . In the series Dusty is a somewhat likeable character . However in the interview Pleich comes across as manipulative and egotistical . Dusty is overweight , unattractive and dresses and has the mannerisms of a boy/ man . Pleich is attractive and feminine . In the series there’s a girl called Josephine . She is nasty but has a soft side . In real life she is called Nicole Cook. She is physically attractive but her personality is unattractive . She is very cold and evil . She is a psychopath . She had no regret about what she did to Reena . There’s no empathy . There is no soft side to her at all .
There are many teenagers who don’t and didn’t have the ideal life but they did not beat an innocent girl . They do not murder. These teenage girls seemed very spoilt . In this group home, they are given their own rooms , can do what they like , drink , smoke etc and their curfew is midnight . There are no rules or regulations and no consequences of their actions . They are given money . I believe they know how to manipulate the system and the people who run the home . The murderer is from a very wealthy family . Her parents adore her and she wants for nothing . Yet she is evil and a psychopath . Some people are just born evil.
I mean no offense by this but I can tell by your comment that you are young and have a lot of life yet to experience. Almost in every case where a kid or kids do something like this it’s because during their early childhood days they experienced neglect, trauma, abuse or all the above. These girls that you say seem spoiled because they were laughing and getting high together. You REALLY think these girls and millions like them living in these group homes or rehab facilities are having a blast there? You think at night when they lay in bed they dont hope and pray that their life changes dramatically? No human is born evil. They are created by other people who abuse or neglect them in some manner. And those people were probably treated in a similar fashion when they were kids. It’s a vicious cycle that will only stop when people start having some empathy for their fellow humans. Im sadly skeptical that will ever happen. You seem like an insightful person so I would challenge you to do some research on the relationship between kids that commit crimes and their probably horrible childhoods. Im not saying bad parents are 100% to blame for situations like these but they bear the overwhelming majority of it. “Those to whom evil is done, do evil in return”- W.H. Auden

it’s not the interviewers job to do a ton of research on the true crime
story based off the show. He interviews actors about their work. I think he did fine.
The way you talk about reena is disgusting you do not need to discuss about this show or case again pitiful
