25,000 years of democracy🤦🏻♂️, as impressive as Palpatine may have been in successfully destroying the Jedi and republic. 25,000 years of democracy, neither Palpatine nor the Sith Empire lasted that long.
Republic had it's share of difficulties in legends, and some Sith regimes lasted thousands of years. However this is not because of their "better way" but because they were hiding. First Sith empire founded by the dark jedi exiles lasted 2000 years because they inhabited a part of the galaxy that was difficult navigate and explore and the republic had no idea they had even survived. They were only as successful in the great hyperspace war as they got element of suprise on their side, but couldn't keep up the offensive and were defeated by republic counter offensive.
To be honest the Republic collapsed for such a short period of time, and so many senators maintained a will to return it that the empire is just a minor speed bump in its timeline. At worstt it should be considered a government in exile for like 30 years or so.
To be fair the Republic is just a coalition of sovereign planets joining together to serve their own interests, which makes it's longevity far less impressive.

@@solareclipse9379 incorrect. Palpatine initiated The Contingency with the aim of eliminating the majority of the remaining, unworthy Empire whilst the worthy few retreated to the Unknown Regions to reform the Empire anew.
