Lori, To feel better reduce overthinking negative thoughts. Be careful what you feed your mind. Avoid comparing yourself with others, avoid storing bottled up emotions, reduce watching negative social media and avoid constipation as it affects the mind. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives relief from stress and overthinking. For a relaxed mind observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils and within the nostrils for 10-15 minutes or more. You can sit on a chair or lay down anywhere, be as still as possible, eyes closed but no deep breathing. Don’t fight your thoughts. Make it a lifetime habit to observe your breath before sleep, when travelling, when reading, at the workplace etc, if needed with eyes open. Best wishes--Counsellor.
I have been on Nardil 20 years. No problems at all, and I take no notice of the diet. In fact, the diet is not correct and has not been updated for decades.
I'm curious if you had experience with psychedelics and MAOi? I prefer to avoid inhibitors as they do have nasty sideeffects but maybe Nardil is different
Yea and improvement it is most likely from the placebo effect. In 47 trails with 5000 patients, placebo effect accounted for 80% of improvement. (Wade, 2016)

@@parnate6382 I was simply pointing out how the commonly explained mechanism, seen in this video, does not (adequately) explain the effect seen from SSRI's. Many drugs increase serotonin, and cause immediate improvement in mood. However, SSRI's increase serotonin levels immediately, but have a delayed improvement in mood. There's a lot unexplained pieces in this puzzle. Many theories, but no great answers.

So... there are two neurons, named A and B. They communicate by eletrical signals, but these signals can't jump between A and B. So when the action potential reaches the axon terminal, the elctrical signal has changed into a chemical signal. Neuron B receive this chemical messages through their dendrites and changes them back into electrical signal. The question is: this electrical signal is the same? I mean: this elctrical signal is exist or not like binary code. 1 = e.signal 0 = no signal. What does the serotonin exactly do? The serotonin change de electrical signal some way? Is it possible? Why is it so important who receive the message, if the message allways the same (an action potential)?
Thanks for the video! It was a very good explanation. I have a question though: I have an anxiety disorder. My doctor said Venlafaxine (SNRI) is probably a good solution to the anxiety, because I had too much side effects with Citalopram (SSRI) in the past. Would you recommend a SNRI over a SSRI in general? I don't have a depression though, it's more an anxiety problem in my case. I did some research on the internet, but I read too many negative experiences, so it makes me really insecure about if I should start it or not.. Hope you can advise me!
NDRI's and NDRA's are they able yo treat psychosis symptoms such as paranoid delusions because of dopamine treatment? I got confusued at the end there.

Please research Robert Whitaker before taking any antidepressant medication. He was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in his work on the subject. His evidence based medicine research is world renowned and published. He has two books. ‘Anatomy of an epidemic’, and ‘mad in America’. Please read and be informed before doing this to your brain and body.
why are we still suggesting that depression is caused by low levels of serotonin? This theory was disproved a long time ago due to no proof at all. This applies to any theory of chemical imbalances whatsoever,,depression, anxiety etc.
Scott Weibye it hasn’t been proven dummy. It is a chemical imbalance I know for a fact. There isn’t any other way of explaining me being so depressed to taking a med and feeling better. That suggests it is a chemical imbalance the meds is changing the feel good chemicals in your brain
NDRIs and NDRAs with a significant dopaminergic component will probably never be used to treat depression. They are too similar to drugs of abuse like amphetamine and cocaine and come with the same associated risks - an altered mental state, tolerance development and addiction, increased risk of psychosis. In prolonged use: anhedonia.
@@eminaalihodzic6478 Wellbutrin (Bupropion) does not have a significant dopaminergic component. It's main mechanism of action is norepinephrine reuptake inhibition, while it's action as a DRI is comparatively minor - same goes for Venlafaxine (which despite this still has some reported incidents of patients snorting it or overdosing it on purpose in order to get high). Medications with the main focus on Dopamine reuptake inhibition have already been researched since the 60s/70s. Most of them didn't even finish their development cycles/approval studies, while others were retracted from the market again, due to having a significant abuse potential, and other unwanted side effects (i.e. Amineptine). With this mechanism of action, you're basically creating substances with effects similar to Amphetamine, Methamphetamine and Cocaine and you're also leaving the territory of mechanisms suitable for treating depression. The next best thing (Modafinil, a weak, selective DRI) is used to mitigate cognitive symptoms and promote wakefulness in patients with dementia, which is already a totally different indication.

MAOIs - particularly Nardil, and the most efficacious antidepressants available. Safe too, contrary to popular belief
But how does it differ from other MAOI? How about the restrictive diet that may not give people the opportunity to use it long-term?
MAOI patches have less of the diet restrictions than traditional ones.
people using moclobemide most of the time ignore the diet without problems

Antidepressants, like SSRIs increase serotonin levels immediately, but take 3-6 weeks to get a clinical response... food for thought.
All this means is that the necessary epi-genetic effects are not instant. How is this at all thought-provoking? Everyone already knew this.

no, you'd need antipsychotics to stop psychosis symptoms, and these drugs usually try to block dopamine receptors from functions.
