This style case for the left side of the desk is even better. Segotep makes some, darkflash used to. We need more quality inverted cases (i prefer for left side of desk.)
it looks like the CPU is doing well but not the GPU, in this case. The GPU should running in the mid 60s without trying From owning a Silverstone FT02, some GPU especially the ones with vapor chambers do not like the vertical upright position. They can run 5-30 degrees warmer The Asus Strix for example is known to not like this position. KitGuru's review of this case had the Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 4080 at 65 degrees, even at 50% fan speed under stress test
I used to use the FT05 it ran really cool with the big fans at the bottom and was very quiet. I ran 2 hot SLI cards and an overclocked CPU all on air cooling it was great. The real difficulty was cable routing for the power supply was rather difficult.
I would try reversing the general flow. Take air in from the bottom and back then exhaust it out the front, side, and top. Give that GPU some fresh, cool air.
Yep the most effective way for fans in this case is to have the rear and bottom fans in take and have all other fans exhaust - that includes exhausting out the front of the case, some people won't like air coming out the front but it needs to for airflows to work effectively in this design
I am looking for a case right now....and wife has signed off on it lol. Was looking at 750 and xl mostly. I have a corner desk with a end table to the right. I told her due to the cableing, I would have to have the rear facing the desk and the front facing away. If air was in from rear and bottom and out was top and side/aio that would be perfect. Glass would face out. I really need good filters due to animals.....only neg is buttons would be by the wall.......which I'm fine with as I don't use them much.
Thank you so much for the review. I was glamorizing this way too much and to see that unless you max the thing out, the temps aren't really that much better than another case, I'll just stick with what I got.
Really good concept with today's power and heat hungry CPU and GPU's, definitely a great option over the 1000D from Corsair with the ability to have that many fans at your disposal. Water cooling it could be fun aswell, Would be a great follow up video if it's possible.
Had one of those silverstones and now have a Torrent, having big fans on the bottom and no glass/rgb puke with the Torrent and good temps on air makes me a happy camper.
Can you just try doing every fan flip flopped, meaning intake next to exhaust, so that no two adjacent fans are moving in the same direction (as much as possible)? Just curious how much a random airflow impacts the actual temperatures, if there's a lot of air moving.
that would trash your throughput, yes, each fan would have more air moving across it due to no resistance, bout it would jsut create fresh air pockets around the outside and heatbomb the middle.
I picked this case up at Memory Express not realizing what it's true nature is. It's almost a shock with number of major changes I have to adapt to and learn. Overall, mostly good changes but connecting the motherboard rear to the outside is really cumbersome. At least most fan configuration create positive overpressurization to keep the dust out at the minor sacrifice to total air cooling. It's a very sexy case once you cram with an AIO CPU liquid cooler kit even though I am not a big fan of such unreliable kits (their pumps suck and break down in a couple of years)
So there is one field to improve - I had ALTA F1 from Silverstone and there is one condition for such cases - TT fulfills all, except one - access to the I/O of Motherboard and GPU. I personally think this is one of the best cases, if the price will not be too high - its COMPLETE case with all dust filters, its a pity we have plastic on the top (where all heat will cumulate and exit - plastic "shouts" (reaction to temperature change) is inevitable with time). But that top can be made better - TT, if you reading this - if motherboard and GPU are lowered to accommodate stiffness of the cables, just put some big bar from case front to case back, that will block the vision through tempered glass. After this remove some structure overload and you will get more clearance for cable management near I/O's. Dont forget to give user some velcro stripes for the cables out there (on top). With all that said, to get case top metal structure you can get standard case back side (with standard atx cutouts + 1 for additional fan) and reinforce structure by making it thicker (that top panel) or by adding some structural beams. Or create that panel with welded beams.
@@andya.6482 I ran into this problem with Lian Li upright GPU kit and 3090TI, which as a vapor chamber design. It is solved by basically flipped the orientation but i dont think it's possible with this case.
Fantastic Case. The only downfall was you cannot mount the radiator inside on the side panel exhaust. A 360 or like mine H170i Capellix with fans inside running as exhaust blocks the ATX power cords [CableMod] from coming through the case pre cut slot. There is no pre cut on the mounting bracket for the intake and output tubes for the radiator to be mounted outside by the wiring case area. So I used tin snips and a file and was able to mount the radiator outside and the fans inside. Running in idol the 13900k at 5.5 OC is 30 to 34 degrees RTX 3090Ti Suprim is 28 degrees. Full boar gaming with iCUE set on extreme cpu averages 78 degrees. Best case over the many others i have ever used.
I've got this case coming for a HEDT PC build and awhile back I watched your fan performance review. Would be interesting to scrap the Thermaltakes for the top performing fans from that video and see what the impact would be.
Great video and editing but, how is the 13700k running at or below 60C? Idle temp? At 100% load it will hit ~ 95C even with a 360 aio! If it’s idle temp then I don’t understand why you included that.
I think a full shroud directly pushing 3 fans air into the gpu would improve it even more. Also a shroud for hot air exhaust fan on gpu directly exhausting through the bottom fan on side mount would be icing on the cake.
Greatly appreciate the various configurations, but the other one I'd be curious about is all but the bottom fans. Really glad you brought up the medical meaning of CTE, and looking forward to you getting your hands on the smaller models in this line.
I'm not surprised in a way that this is a Thermaltake case as it somewhat reminds me of my Core P6 case. I actually run 12 fans in that, but it is normally near silent due to the airflow being so good. I do eventually need to get some of those swafans though, I'd love not looking at the back of some of my intake fans.
I like the concept. Just like the PSU's with cables plugging into the side instead of the back, it makes some sense. I like my BeQuiet 900rev2, because I have 4 bays with 2 SSD's each for storage of my massive art collection. But I think BeQuiet ought to consider retrofitting the 900 cases for this. The cable attachments are a bit awkward.... but I suspect once built, for most folks it's not too often you need to change things a lot.
My 4090TUF card is 15C warmer in this 90degree orientation compared the the normal vertical layout , modern VGAs ( heatpipes / vapor chamers ) don't like this upside down position. Half of the heatpipes can't work against gravity. (The part above the GPU core )
Thermaltake needs to make an updated Core V21 cube case as that also has really great airflow due to the mesh sides (save for one side being a plexiglass window) and I can orient the fans anyway I want (with the front intake being a 200mm low RPM thus silent fan). This has helped me keep an air cooled system at the 40C mark in the middle of summer.
I always wanted to see this orientation with the gpu in the back but I had an idea for vents (leading to a fan at the top) that could be positioned to cover the exhaust sides/area of a gpu to extract the hot air instantly to avoid mixing with the case air.
Interesting concept. TBH, I'd prefer a case with this many spots to place a 420mm radiator with a standard layout. I wish they'd make that as well, same size as this one but regular orientation.
Good for looks, I guess, but a horribly expensive way to get very little benefit in cooling. All you really need is: 3 fans in behind a full mesh, 1 fan out, positive airflow.
Keep in mind that this 80 degrees is GPU chip temperature, video memory is usually 15-25 degrees hotter. The only effective way to lower high GPU temps is to replace shitty stock thermal pads and paste with high quality 3rd party ones like Thermalright or Gelid Solutions. No need to spend hundreds of dollars on fancy cases, most basics cases with 2 140s in and one 120 out can provide decent airflows just fine. Removing dust filters and front panel can drastically improve airflow, but this is kinda personal thing.
my dude just exhaust the fans on the rear (next to the gpu), intake the 3 fans on the right side of the case, that should move the heat saturating the gpu along the glass(as heat mostly dissipates towards the left (glass) side of the case) without losing cpu temps.
I never noticed this before but "Airflow From The Rear" has an acronym that is an anagram of the word fart! You DO learn something new every day after all!! 👀 😁
You should try with no exhaust, just 3x3 intake front, back and bottom, then leave top and side unpopulated. Or only exhaust with top and side populated.
I don't know if I would get this case, but I like the visuals and editing of this video! I found it cool (no pun intended) to see the various fans "light up" to emphasize the different temperatures that were achieved.
I don't think this thing can outperform HAF 700 with 13 fans.. Dimitry pls test it.. you have one! 😁 I have that case but also an old system ( saving for new one ) so i can't compare it.. Btw pc looks cool and "odd", i like look of it.. but i think they can't figure out how to cool properly gpu.. Would be perfect with some custom made heatskink for gpu, which will have lenght of 120mm fan and fans can blow through it.. that will have big benefit in this config ( in theory lol ). but how gpu's are designed right now.. no matter where or how you put it it will have the same temps.. fans hit the fins and goes on sides.. Maybe i cross now in science fiction but would be more logical we have third party gpu heatskinks/fins which was longer and you can force air through them, not into them..same principle what we have for CPU heatsinks, just not to be in that shape ofc.. idk that's just my thoughs 😁
Im in my early 40's.. at what point did enthusiast hardware leave the realm of "need".. I think i might be 15ish years too late to come back. My case before my last case was the corsair 800d, so was interested in another monster case. I just wish there was a real effective need, or something you couldn't do.. that was enabled by something like this, or with enthusiast hardware in general. Like it was a few decades ago :)
@Muljz Crasho My current favourite cases is the one with wood on the front (reviewed here) and anything by inwin (though they don't review well at all). Inwin are great, they actually are brave enough to make "homer simpson car" cases where noone else will..
Well, this was kinda made for water cooling. At the very least, the CPU has to have a radiator. For a custom loop, as I'll be running in it, there's be no problem at all. For air cooler, the smaller C700 would make more sense, since the fans by the motherboard are removed, so the front fans are much closer to the the CPU.
Ummm, the 011x dynamic/metalligear neo qube already does that with normal mobo orientation, since the powersupply is moved behind the motherboard, it leave the bottom open and draws air through the bottom, across the video card, and exhausts it out the top..
Would an exposed open setup without any case be better? Or with a room fan blowing at it ? There’s so many fans in this case, it’s like there’s no case
After seeing how you covered this case, I would love to hear what you think about the itx case market after the last few years. Basically update your "The ITX Market is BROKEN" video from a couple of years ago.
If they allow you use a riser that flat mount gpu so all gpu heatsink fin is horizonal and use front side and bottom for intake then exhaust through top and back I think it's way more ideal
Unfortunately this case has a major flaw, this GPU orientation doesn't work well for most of gpu coolers and you will see around 15c higher temps. And no amount of fans will fix that... So you have case that is too large, has too many fans that add to the cost but you still get worse thermals compared even to really small cases. Dmitry great review as always :)
yup. Had to rotate my old FT02 case because of this problem. Its a great concept, but most modern GPU cards are unfortunately not compatible with this orientation.
I was completely set on this case to cool a 4090 until I saw a comment like this on another video - a few hours of investigating later and it does appear to be an issue. It is a common issue with small form factor barebones cases with 90 degree mounts. People tipped their cases 90 degrees to a standard rotation and temps dropped 15 to 20 degrees.
I love this case, it would have been fantastic if it just had better cable management, unfortunate, I would have loved to be 100% convinced, I planned to run it inverted because I have a left desk and I don't mind the power cable going in from the front, but the usb cables coming in as well would be too much.... ughhh
I have been searching(several weeks my now) for a case that would accommodate my 360mm CPU AIO(14900k) along with A MSI Suprim Liquid X(240mm AIO) without having to use a case that either relies completely on intake from underneath the case(HYTE Y60/Y70 and LIAN LI o11 Dynamic) and where the front airflow is not obstructed/constrained by a front mounted AIO. This case looks to be the closest case to fitting the bill and supports a dual AIO configuration where airflow is not choked off in the front. Any foreseeable pitfalls in using this case for a dual AIO setup? Or, is there a case out there that I have overlooked that would be better suited to satisfy these "requirement"?
Other than in theory, I can't see any big advantage of this compared to my 10 fan 011D or any similair cases that have bottom intakes and top exhausts.
I'm curious about how the gpu would perform if it was mounted on a Vertical Bracket in these tests? I'd think that would help dissipate more of the heat from it since the air would flow directly through the heatsink fins.
What would happen if you use 4x 200mm fans - 2 in the front and 2 in the back? Or do turn the GPU with a riser? Or put the 360 radiator or AIO on the bottom? Also, would recommend the TG over the air?
I have 4x 200mm fans, 2x on the front and 2x on the rear, a 420mm AIO on the side. I would expect 1 200mm fan to be better than 2 140mm fans due to the larger fan moving more air. all in all, it definitely gets the job done and is kinda loud, but am sure would be infinitely louder with 3 140mm fans on the front and back. maybe one day they will make this case even bigger to have a 600mm AIO for the side! 😀I would so much love to have that! 3 200mm on the front and back would be amaze balls!
with a 420 aio pretty much any case will do the same temps. changing usb cables is not sth you do every day or even month. people should use the monitors usb hub for temp connections anyway
Not a fan of that case. Most people would be better off sticking with the traditional 011 dynamic form factor, which is also seen in cases like the Asus TUF GT-502. Speaking of fans, you can get ThermalRight's 3xFan pack for $10-15, which for less than $50 can fill one of these cases up easily.
Some of those fans are pointless because they're working against others, like the bottom right wall fan is just spitting out the air the right and bottom fans are pulling in. The GPU specifically, but also everything would improve DRASTICALLY with some shrouding. Honestly this case is executed awfully. Your final shot shows you've installed an AIO to the CPU, but you don't talk or show this at all.
Really cool what you did with the fan lighting during the temperature section. Sweet.
The visuals for the testing section looked great and made things VERY easy to follow, props to whoever decided on that

It reminds of Antec's Lanboy air that came out like a decade ago
I would honestly run the front fans as exhaust
i have same case with 11(14cm)fans + 420 aio and i can tell you aio is mandatory since gpu heat is exhausted directly into cpu heatsink.
I kind of want to see all fans set to intake on sides, bottom blocked off or set to intake, and top with no fans and open/mesh
Innovations is really good when applied.
Would an exposed open setup without any case be better? Or with a room fan blowing at it ? There’s so many fans in this case, it’s like there’s no case
Missed testing opportunity, aio on front, side fans all exhausting almost isolating the heat, 420 rad that is
Been waiting on this case. Now I’m buying it
I get the string-plucks each time there's a fan change but on headphones it was massively unpleasant.
I feel like this video would benefit from a comparison to a Lian Li case. We would see if there is any actual improvement.
Nothing will be better than standard location mobo and gpu with tower cooler on gpu.
How about front exhaust, top 240mm liquid cooled gpu exhaust, bottom -back intake, .... Wonder how would it perform.
A blower card and GPU seperated from the CPU would work wonders here. The Raven RV05 still gets the lowest temps i think
GPU I/O ports upwards is no go for any vapor chamber card.
After seeing how you covered this case, I would love to hear what you think about the itx case market after the last few years. Basically update your "The ITX Market is BROKEN" video from a couple of years ago.
I love that Chris Pratt takes time off movies to do these videos.
Put some HEPA filters on that and it could double as a CR box too!
If they allow you use a riser that flat mount gpu so all gpu heatsink fin is horizonal and use front side and bottom for intake then exhaust through top and back I think it's way more ideal
yeah isnt better to have rear as a exhaust ?
@@tomhartney403 yeah, and it is sad that large manufacturers are not aware of this issue, and they have multi million r&d budgets
8:48 They're releasing smaller CTE versions: C700 & T500
To further illustrate what fans are on, the ones being run as exhaust should have their lights to red.
I love this case, it would have been fantastic if it just had better cable management, unfortunate, I would have loved to be 100% convinced, I planned to run it inverted because I have a left desk and I don't mind the power cable going in from the front, but the usb cables coming in as well would be too much.... ughhh
I love the looks of TT cases but they really need to do something for the GPU temps...
I think they made a mistake upselling the 750 when the 500 seems like a much more compact, and functional case.
What if you make a custom venturi shrowd from the gpu exhaust to a exhaust fan directly? Like 3D print one?
With all that internal volume they should have made a separate gpu enclosure to separate heat sources. Case fail.
This case has a bracket to hang the GPU facing out, I really wanted to see if that made any difference in the thermals.
I get around 80º C under full sustained load on my 4080 in my run of the mill Corsair 5000D.
Other than in theory, I can't see any big advantage of this compared to my 10 fan 011D or any similair cases that have bottom intakes and top exhausts.
What about making the fans in the GPU side as exhaust along with the two at the top with every other as intake?
I really wouldve liked to see a custom loop in this. How many can this thing fit?
I'm curious about how the gpu would perform if it was mounted on a Vertical Bracket in these tests? I'd think that would help dissipate more of the heat from it since the air would flow directly through the heatsink fins.
Why was the GPU so hot at baseline though? What was the load on it? I ask because my 4080 runs at least 20 degrees cooler even benchmarking
this case suck with gpu temps ... my 3080ti hits 92 degrees in 5 sec , i wish they start doing honest reviews i would not buy this case
Honestly, this product just makes me want Silverstone to resurrect the vertical flow Fortress cases.
What about putting the fans for exhaust next to the GPU?
Some of those fans are pointless because they're working against others, like the bottom right wall fan is just spitting out the air the right and bottom fans are pulling in. The GPU specifically, but also everything would improve DRASTICALLY with some shrouding. Honestly this case is executed awfully.
Your final shot shows you've installed an AIO to the CPU, but you don't talk or show this at all.
hmm not sure what this case really adds except a bunch of fans. I'm getting 50c on a 13700k and ~80 on a 7900XTX in gaming in a Torrent.
