A few thoughts. 1. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has for several years been a generic popular music hall of fame. It is, I think, too late to get this toothpaste back in the tube, so the R&RHoF should reinvent itself as such a generic hall of fame with various categories including an authentic rock & roll category. There should be some attempt to define and clearly state criteria for including particular artists in particular categories. 2. If public voting is to be retained as part of the process, there should be transparency about the way in which the public vote counts towards the final decisions on induction of artists, and the extent to which it counts. The current arrangements are unaccountable and arguably fraudulent. 3. In fact the entire decision-making process for induction of artists should be explained as clearly and openly as possible. Of course there will still be disagreements about particular inductions, but at least the process will be above suspicion.

@jamescaron6465 right, I definitely remember her questioning as to why she would ever be there in the first place. I have no doubt that she found it quite amusing to make such an album.
Foreigner’s first record was exciting. It captured the essence of rock when disco was on the upswing but more importantly it was good pop/rock music that introduced the world to the great Lou Gramm. I know Lou is fond these days of talking up Black Sheep his pre Foreigner band but if he had to rely on Black Sheep he’d been a mild success with 2 LP’s under his belt and out of the music biz within a few years. yawn who cares, the place has been a joke for years so if they occasionally get a real rocker, too little too late.no room for ozzy or ronnie james dio or iron maiden but dolly parton yes. never a foreigner fan, but since they are playing with no original members, again, too little, too late.
And what about Sweet. Multiple hits in the US. Influenced many rock bands from the 80’s. Very talented musicians too. They put T-Rex in, so Sweet should be in too.
I can definitely understand the constant criticism of the rock n roll hall of fame because many great rock bands are still being ignored. It seems a bit unfair to have biases, but they want what they feel will bring in the largest spectrum of music fans. Ozzy Osbourne has always been one of the greatest spokesmen for heavy metal, so I am glad that he has been voted in as a solo act. That being said, the hall has to cater to all genres of music under the umbrella of rock to include country and r&b. The reason they have a large variety of artists has to do with pleasing the most people to get them to pay tickets to go to this building to spend money. If it was strictly all what would classify as rock n roll, some would probably not want to visit.
First of all, I don't think that decisions about what is, or is not, Rock & Roll, should be in the hands or minds of Americans. USA citizens, in general, know zilch about anything but still think they know everything and that what they say is gospel and should be accepted as truth by the rest of the world. Secondly; and as a result of the former, this whole "Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame" thing is a joke. It's a pet-project by a guy who wanted to add his favourite artists to an internationally accepted list. Because, hey, everything American is important and should be accepted as such by the whole world. America has produced some great things. They didn't invent much on their own, but they did great stuff. Making music, however, isn't among those things. It took European artists to use original American rock and perfect it, so the USA could claim it was THEIR music and boast about it until this day. I am in possession of over 27-thousand albums spread over large varieties of genres and styles (from classical music to the most gut-wrenching hardcore metal), saw over 2000 bands/artists between 1976 and today. It doesn't make me an expert, but it sure gives me an inkling about what should or shouldn't be Rock. Over half of the inductees should never ever be in this so-called "Hall Of Fame". As mister Noland rightfully said, the "Rock & Roll" part in the name should be scrapped and replaced by "Music". Then we could come to some form of agreement. All hail to mister Noland for not being a typical, brain-dead, American. I'm glad some of 'them' do still have the capacity to think straight. Cheerio lad. Greetings from Belgium.
pump and circumcisions? That is about the all-time most hilarious quote I have ever heard on UA-cam on any topic. hey why don’t we just call the cock ball Hall of lame? Try that one on and see what you think. Great job as always going back to watch the rest of your video.
I attended the opening of the Hall. Flew in from Seattle. I now regret it. Far too many bonehead exclusions / inclusions . No Mc5, New York Dolls , Three Dog Night, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Robin Trower, Tears For Fears....WTF!
Thanks Mike for your passion and insights. I think, as is typical nowadays and going back decades, money is the underlying motivation either directly or indirectly. The people behind the scenes at the RRHOF are likely motivated by an inclusionary mindset considering what sells today compared to the distant past. True rock music doesn't sell nearly as much as other genres anymore because the people that buy music and attend concerts today are usually under 30 and are not fans of classic rock.
I love Sade. But I never thought I was listening to rock. Don`t know Mary Jane.....I`m sure she can do without this honor. This is a "pop' award show under a rock and roll title. Remember when rock was the pop music. Back in the time when people played their instruments and recorded great songs. And a producer along with a record company wanted their artists to develop over time.
I agree with you 100%. It is really not a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, it is a music hall of fame. I do not know how they even consider some of the ones that even got in, I sure do not think of them as rock & roll at all. The first ones you named, I said you are right, and some of the bands that really deserve to be in are not. The good bands have surely paid their dues to be honored in the hall of fame, and some of the ones that got voted in should not even be in the rock & roll hall of fame.
I couldn’t agree with you more. This is supposed to be for Quality rock ‘n’ roll bands over the last few years we’ve seen rap stars and hip-hop stars take the honours and even offering it to get this, Dolly Parton . It seems a plethora of wonders and minor music stars from years gone by now considered legendary for the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame? I think perhaps they should qualify what it takes to make the list, and if there is nobody available in the actual genre, they shouldn’t hold induction ceremonies. Better to be purist than to waste away in a sea of mediocrity.
Music goes back to the days to the early days of human history and is bedded all across the planet Earth so if it was the “Music Hall of Fame” we probably would see more classical composers inducted and more non Western musicians inducted I think the reason why is called the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and despite them honoring non Rock is because they are part of the “Rock n Roll Era” of Popular Music from I would say the 1950s to Y2K
Kool and the gang is fine to me...Cher's ok with me too...if they were successful artist that were played on the radio stations that I listened to back in the day I give it a pass...but totally agree with you on Dave Matthews and others like them need to wait their turn
@@martineldritch I'm 70 years old, and the last "new" group I liked was White Stripes... or maybe it was Primus. Since then, I haven't heard anyone new or newer that I really liked.

Wenner hated prog rock. ELP is STILL not in the RRHOF.
Neither is #ASIA.
Amen to thatFresh! ❤
@@MatthewAdcock-e7tYep! Good call user!
Nor is Procol Harum.
@@MatthewAdcock-e7t Kudos to Asia but ELP were ground breaking !
yet another episode of Old Man Yells at Cloud !
yawn who cares, the place has been a joke for years so if they occasionally get a real rocker, too little too late.no room for ozzy or ronnie james dio or iron maiden but dolly parton yes. never a foreigner fan, but since they are playing with no original members, again, too little, too late.
And there are many, many who agree with you MsBenlane! ❤👌🏆
And what about Sweet. Multiple hits in the US. Influenced many rock bands from the 80’s. Very talented musicians too. They put T-Rex in, so Sweet should be in too.
sinead devoted her life to singing rock n roll (and other genres) and died last year. but we get cher? yuk.
Thanks, Michael. I tend to be apathetic about Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Thanks for letting me know who is nominated.
Always Catherine! I appreciate your kind words! ❤
The Meteors are pure rock n roll ,psychobilly.
Hall of Shame strikes again. Only the last 3 belonged, in my opinion.
pump and circumcisions? That is about the all-time most hilarious quote I have ever heard on UA-cam on any topic. hey why don’t we just call the cock ball Hall of lame? Try that one on and see what you think. Great job as always going back to watch the rest of your video.
I thought it might cut a little too close for some Jay! 😂😂😂❤
ELP should be in !
Yep Mike, I concur! ❤
Bands & artists who aren't in the R&R Hall of Fame but should be: Bryan Ferry (Solo Artist), The Bangles, Oasis, Motorhead, Billy Idol, The Verve,
Will give ya benefit of doubt but no on Oasis ha
@@janet.osmonson7451 The first two Oasis albums are among the greatest rock albums ever recorded. I think they belong.
Until Steppenwolf and Paul Revere and the Raiders get inducted it will always be The Rock n Roll Hall of Shame.
Well said Jay! And then there’s the fact that ‘world music’ is pushed by the media and every outlet! I smell a rat brother! ❤😉
I adore Sade too, but she is about as Rock and Roll as my dog.
Foreigner? Why would they deserve to be their, Did they influence a single band that came after them?
I agree with you 100%. It is really not a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, it is a music hall of fame. I do not know how they even consider some of the ones that even got in, I sure do not think of them as rock & roll at all. The first ones you named, I said you are right, and some of the bands that really deserve to be in are not. The good bands have surely paid their dues to be honored in the hall of fame, and some of the ones that got voted in should not even be in the rock & roll hall of fame.
Well said User as per usual! ❤
Why would anyone WANT to be inducted into that joke of a hall of fame? It's become more of an honor to NOT be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
Music goes back to the days to the early days of human history and is bedded all across the planet Earth so if it was the “Music Hall of Fame” we probably would see more classical composers inducted and more non Western musicians inducted
I think the reason why is called the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and despite them honoring non Rock is because they are part of the “Rock n Roll Era” of Popular Music from I would say the 1950s to Y2K
I certainly agree with your definition of the Classic Rock era Edgy! ❤👌
i can see boston and nazareth, but their lead singers have passed away. its almost to little to late.
Kool and the gang is fine to me...Cher's ok with me too...if they were successful artist that were played on the radio stations that I listened to back in the day I give it a pass...but totally agree with you on Dave Matthews and others like them need to wait their turn
Damn shame BOSTON and Survior still missing!🤥
We,his fans, fought hard to see Peter Frampton inducted into the RHOF! So many artists and bands still due.
How about this? - To be inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame, your music should at least have drums in it.. and a guitar as a bare minimum
The White Stripes are eligible now
@@martineldritch I'm 70 years old, and the last "new" group I liked was White Stripes... or maybe it was Primus. Since then, I haven't heard anyone new or newer that I really liked.
How about calling it The International Academy of Modern Music
Some prominent Rock & Roll purists should create a new and true Rock & Roll Hall of Hall of Fame that features artists who actually play Rock & Roll music. This could include non-rock artists if they have released maybe 5 albums in the Rock genre.
I’d back that excellent idea Dennis! ❤
3 dog night was one of the biggest band of the late 60s and 70s and many..many super hits I agree with the others that ah another writer mentioned its SAD that bands that should B induced aren't...sad.sad.sad..🤘🎸✌
Since insanity seems to have prevailed, I would like to cast my vote for the Sex Pistols in the rap hall of fame.
No Iron Maiden? No Jethro Tull? Screw the Hall of Fame. But have to agree with Ozzy. His solo stuff has been stellar and Patient #9 is one of the best rock albums of the 21st century.
Bands from the 50's and 60's still not in but what's the rush!
