5 Spider-Man 2 - Doc Ock vs Spidey was amazing, neck and neck with it's predecessor which won for innovation.
6 Spider-Man Homecoming - cool but too much Tony tech
7 Spider-Man Far From Home - cool but too much Tony tech and not friendly neighbourhood.
8 The Amazing Spider-Man - Peter Parker was too cool and confident (the direction, not the acting)*
9 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - Peter Parker was too cool and confident AND the plot was bad.
10 Spider-Man 3 - Venom wasn't venom and Bully Maguire only works as a meme.
*Andrew Garfield is an Amazing Spider-man and he played Peter Parker's goofy awkwardness much better in No Way Home, I believe that was his own input and it was probably the studio or the director that wanted Peter Parker to be a cool skateboarding, dunking super cool guy bullying the bullies. It did not work for me at all but he was my favourite part of No Way Home.

The Spider-Verse films are well on their way to becoming one of the best film trilogies in history!

Just saw Across the Spider-Verse last night!!!!! ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE.
I highly encourage everybody to splurge and watch it in either Dolby or imax

Doc Ock: NOTHING!
People may not recognize Alfred Molina, or “Doc Ock” in the very first Indiana Jones movie, I just rewatched it, and was blown away at a teenage looking Molina as Indy’s assistant or porter in the very beginning of the movie..
Molina is a brilliant actor in tons of stuff, but usually is sidled to some tertiary character

We went to the first showing yesterday, and we sat there during the credits just saying “Dude” over and over again. It was visually stunning, and met all my emotional wants from this movie. I loved it so much!!!

There is no way in hell I'm putting a animated movie above a good Live Action Spider-Man movie. When the first Spider-Man movie released it changed everything for me and I grew up in the 90s watching the Animated Spider-Man cartoon. I find this animated movie to be incredible but I just can't put it above live action.
As someone who was born in 2002, the first Spider-Man is one of those movies that takes me back to when I was 4, 5 and 6 who fell in love with the character

I think Across the Spider-Verse managed to finish Gwen's Story but not Miles' Story. Cause they are saving that for Beyond into the Spider-Verse.
Across was a master class in animation and in how to properly do a sequel. I usually hate reiterations of original characters, but the Spiderverse movies made me fall in love with Miles. Can’t wait for Beyond next year.

This Man Really put Amazing Spider-Man over Spider-man 1, I can't
I’m old enough to have grown up with all these, and I’m leaning more towards Tom Holland being the best representation of Spider Man for me. I really like the other guys, don’t get me wrong, I have zero complaints, I just Like Tom. Seeing them all together in the same film is a real, amazing and super treat for us.
I liked Andrew Garfield, then Tom Holland, then Tobey. I was never a huge Tobey fan, even when they first came out. I’d put the Spider-Verse movies as the top 2 of all, though (and I haven’t even seen the 2nd one yet!)

@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 I agree, personally I think the first spider verse is a little better than the 2nd because it’s more concise and focused on the main cast, but as an artist the art and animation 2nd spider verse is a masterpiece. Beautiful colors and animation, the colors convey almost everything from emotion to tones
2nd one is definitely worth the watch. Only gripe I have with it is that it’s more focused on setting up the finale than itself. Still a great movie and the 3rd one could easily be the best of all, as all the setup of the 2nd movie will pay off.
Fuck the comics, I like more Tobey and Andrew than Tom wanna be miles.

Yeah all things being equal, if Coy is going to demerit some of these for not feeling like real Spiderman he should be harsher on the Holland flicks.
Most of the Holland flicks feel too much like MCU movies with weak villains and at the start too much focus on Iron Man.
Spider Man Homecoming and NWH being better than Entire Raimi Trilogy is nonsensical.
Nah, Mysterio was great. Far From Home had less problems than those 2.

Spider-man 1 had peter as an angry nerd? That's not how I see it at all. He seemed very content with being a nerd, and that continued through all the movies. He never seemed to resent being a nerd, he was just bullied a lot.

I, personally, would put Into the Spiderverse above Spiderman: NWH just because of that leap of faith scene with the What's Up Danger soundtrack playing in the back. God What a scene it was!!! The whole soundtrack in that movie was epic to put it in simple terms. And Across the Spiderverse just bulldozed through the first part to become my number one spiderman movie of all time. I didn't think they could top ITSV but ATSV is just simply perfect. It hit all the right notes, I felt all the emotions it conveyed...something about both the spiderverse movies feel personal. And that is a big part of why those are in my top 2!

I'm in the same boat, it's weird to say a animated movie is better compared to live action because when the first Spider-Man came out in theaters it was a dream come true, no way I'm going to say "Actually, Now Animated is better" I just can't do that.
Great list. I feel like the way you explained Tobe’s character in Spider-Man 1 is a little bit inaccurate though he was a really nice guy in that movie which I’ve actually heard people insult because they say Peter is suppose to be more sarcastic & bold
The complaints against Tobey's character are more about Spidey than Peter. Tobey's Peter is generally more like the Romita comics and is accurate enough. Spider-Man is supposed to be quippy, not serious like Batman, and Tobey's Spidey has much less (but good quality, for the most part) quips. But I can consider that given Peter's stakes in the Raimi films.

I'm revisiting this video after having finally seen Across the Spiderverse and I have to agree with your putting that movie as number one! No Way Home & SM2 were my top two (now 2 and 3) but ATS was incredible and even blows the first one out of the water (which was great also). Looking forward to part 3!
This gave me chills.. I love Spider Man so much.. I am exactly 24 hours away from watching Across the Spider-Verse and I can’t contain my excitement!!!
The reason the scene with Peter being unmasked in the train works so well is because it is in complete favor of peters arc throughout the whole movie. He basically gets shit on by every person in his life, and after he makes amends with Aunt May, he still needs to find a reason to keep protecting the people, and after he’s unmasked, he immediately thinks what the audience is thinking “everyone is gonna tell everyone, I’m fucked.” But then with their kind gesture back to him by promising they won’t tell anyone, Peter finally sees the good in people again and realizes that they’re worth protecting, it isn’t just as simple as “he represents New York.” Plus if it’s a problem that the people in that train don’t tell anyone he’s Peter, then it’s just as much of a problem in no way home that he doesn’t just ask doctor strange to make everyone forget about mysterio. As soon as you try to bring realism into any of these movies you can pick apart all of them.
Plus they just saw his face. Not his name.
So really wouldn’t be able to tell anything anyways. Except to a sketch artist.

What’s to tell?
I think a school vacation was a fantastic idea for Spider-Man: Far From Home, utilising the school environment in a very fun and exciting way. We've had New York in six other Spidey films, so I think this is conversely a very welcome change, not something to lament! Coy, you say we haven't gotten "our guy" yet, but I think Spider-Man: No Way Home proved that this whole trilogy is about Spider-Man actually becoming "our guy" - No tech suits, alone with his secret, and feeling the burden of vital responsibility more now than ever.
Also, I don't see how Peter in the first Spider-Man is a boiling rage pot - He certainly doesn't have the innate goodness shown by Andrew Garfield's Peter, shown by him defiantly fighting Flash's bullying, but he's just a meek, average high schooler. For someone as bullied as he is, not being a boiling rage pot is actually a good thing! Don't forget too, in the comics, Peter was embittered and resentful at his mistreatment, rather self-centered, and literally had the mentality of "Screw the rest of the world, all I care about is Aunt May, Uncle Ben, and me!" (he had no friends in high school). It's not untrue to the comics to make him not be innately good, and when he does get annoyed, it seems typical of a normal teenager.
In the film, Peter learns "with great power comes great responsibility" through a tragedy, and he lives in a world where everything beats him down - He's extremely unpopular, the target of bullies, and heck, even the school bus driver! A guy won't pay him a fair wage after a wrestling match, the incompetent wrestling system traps him in a caged match with a horrifying behemoth, and J. Jonah Jameson is out to destroy Spider-Man's reputation. He rises above harsh circumstances, to do what's right and live life the right way. Norman is another example of this, but mentally, via insanity, succumbs to the metaphorical stress of his circumstances via the Goblin - The person who could provide funding for his company hates him and wants him out of business, and Oscorp's board of directors are cold and indifferent to his personal struggles, coming off as scummy, self-absorbed jerks.

I feel like my most 'unpopular' Spider-Man opinion is that Electro/Jaime Foxx was great in the Amazing Spider-Man 2 and I really felt empathy for him. I was SO glad to see him in No Way Home.
This movie was so dang good. It did feel it's length, though it probably wouldn't have felt that way if I hadn't gone immediately after leaving work. 😂 Words honestly can't describe how wonderful the film is. The animation has somehow been cranked to 1000 which was almost too much for my eyes in the beginning, but it eased out. The voice cast was amazing. I went with my 13 YO son, and the mother/son elements were great for our outing. I could see him looking at me throughout those moments ❤️

To be fair, in the year 2004 what would people on the train have told the world of Spider-Man that would make him easy to identify? “Yeah Spider-Man is actually an early 20’s kid with brown hair and blue eyes. Oh and we don’t know his real name.” Like, that could be so many people. And Peter Parker isn’t on magazines or anything so none of the people on the train would be able to find out who he was. As for the horror stuff regarding Doc Ock, that’s personal preference and I can see where you’re coming from. I personally love the horror movie monster angle they took with Doc Ock, very reminiscent of Ultimate. As for Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man/Peter Parker being to much of an angry bitter nerd, I would argue that I would like to see more of that since Peter’s whole arc is going from a shy, awkward, introverted, brilliant, but also very bitter and broken kid who feels like the world is his greatest enemy, to a confident, heroic, extroverted, amazing, and hopeful man who helps people because it’s his responsibility and it’s what he wants. I feel if the Raimi trilogy was made today as a live action TV show in the vain of Daredevil, with enhanced visual effects, an even better balance of comic book camp and human realism, and more attention given to Peter’s scientific mind, his bitter rage, and his confidence that comes from being Spider-Man, I think we would have a perfect live action version of the character that’s unique while still faithful to what makes Spider-Man so compelling.

Yes! I've never imagined in a million years saying this, but Across the Spider-Verse tops NWH for me too. It was an absolute masterpiece. No. 1 Spider-Man movie and top 5 comic book movie.
As much as I loved the spider-verse movies, nothing feels more personal, corny, happy, and sweet, like SM2.

My take on your take: 1) If you re-read the Lee/Ditko run, Peter was a *very* angry person. 2) The Webb "cool" Peter Parker is the Romita version. :) And please remember that 3) the first two Raini movies were post-911 films, so they portrayed a sweet New York :) And "Bring On The Bad Guys," a book I read in fifth grade (and it had ASM 40 in it!), changed my life, so I hear you about reading.

Coy, I also want Andrew Garfield to continue playing peter parker in the sony's spiderman apart from Tom Holland's version of MCU spiderman....it'd be totally complete vindication for his version of the character to get further development.

Parker from the Spiderverse trilogy movies...that would be really cool....it'd be a good tie-in to the final conversation between Doc Ock and Tobey's Spidey about growing up and getting his life together...Peter B. Parker did say himself that he's 43-year old spiderman and has had that job for around 22 years totally could make sense!!!

The analysis of SM1 feels off to me. Peter, at least as per Stan Lee's original vision, isn't a good-hearted guy. He didn't have a great level of empathy from the start of his life like Clark Kent did.
He was an outcast who was bullied, and he hated the people around him for it. He hated the popular girls for not wanting to have anything to do with him. In modern terms, he was kind of an incel.
When he got his powers, swinging around and saving people was the least of his priorities. He wrestled for fortune, and then he went on TV for fame. He let a burglar escape and told the security guard who scolded him for not helping, "That's your job. I'm through being pushed around by anyone." He was straight up an egotistical dickhead.
Then Uncle Ben was killed by the burglar he ignored, and he realized that with great power, there must also come great responsibility.
That's exactly what was conveyed in the movie, and I think that's a vital part of Peter's character that sets him apart from other superheroes then and now. He wasn't a very good person, and bad things happened because of it, but he had a wake-up call and found empathy. Yes, it led to a lot of pain in his life, but it also made him happier and gave him the ability to open up to people instead of feeling bad for himself because he was an outcast.
Dont necessarily agree with your opinions on Spider-Man 1 but thats alright. For me Spider-Man 2 is still the top Spider-Man movie because it absolutely nails everything about why we all fell in love with the character in the first place. And its the closest to the original comics.
The Spider-verse movies are great, but they're not THE Spider-Man movie imo. If youre arguing the best movie then perhaps, but best Spider-Man movie, eh. Spidey is Peter Parker to me, although Miles is really cool, hes not the OG. All other Spider-Men are kinda side characters to Peter. Ive always preferred the original characters of anyone.

Awesome Video!!! OMG THIS MOVIE WAS INSANE!!!!!! Not just one of The Best SuperHero Movies, But One Of The Greatest Movies Of All Time!!! I have to see it again to decide if It's Better then The First One, But it Might Be! Which is High Praise because I Love The First One SO Much. This Movie had So Many Amazing Easter Eggs and References to Spider-Man Lore and It Was just Perfect!!! I Freaked Out when Spectacular Spider-Man and Insomniac Spider-Man Showed Up!!!
But also This Movie's Story is so Perfect too! Miles Morales is One Of My Favorite Characters of All Time and He is Incredible in This Movie!!!

I think Homecoming is overall just a really good spider man movie the threat isn't world ending it's pretty much a friendly neighborhood spider man story, and I like to imagine MCU Peter had his uncle Ben moment happen (before Homecoming), which explains his actions in the movie. He has to sacrifice things like his field trip and prom because with great power comes great responsibility and Homecoming was a really good example of that.

I agree with your list almost completely. The only switch I would do there is Put Into the Spider-verse as first, Across the spider-verse second and No Way Home as third. The reason for putting Into the Spider-verse as first is the main origin of Miles, which I just adore. If I could, Across and Into would be sharing the first place, but If I am supposed to pick which one is first, its gotta be Into the spider-verse.
Now watch me change my mind when Beyond the Spider-verse releases
I agree with moving No Way Home down, any scene containing multiverses or Dr Strange after Across the Spiderverse just feel janky and not well thought out. Every scene after the set up though is very good. I personally would still rank Across the spiderverse as second, with Into the spiderverse as first until we see how the plot points it set up are executed in Beyond the spiderverse, as the experience as a stand alone film is better right now.
I agree 100 %. Tbh I watched ITSV after No Way home and loved NWH but after seeing ITSV and ATSV, they easily beat out every other Spider-Man movie to date. ATSV was as great as the reviews had stated, I was amazed by it.

@@gabrielsenademeiralima7894 in TASM, Peter becomes Spider-Man out of pure revenge and assaults random criminals that look like the one that killed uncle Ben. I love Andrew Garfield, but the writing for that version of Spider-Man was awful.
Spidey fan since a kid 5/5 10/10 for me, the collective of spidermans was so adorable. @5:48 Andrew was such a cool spidey i genuinely love Tobey for nostalgic reasons but Andrew's spidey had so much swag i loved it LOL "swag"
